The problem with Monarchy is great men rarely tend to have great sons
The Roman Empire wasn't a monarchy, as it began as a military dictatorship, then became an emperorship. Family had very little to do with who ruled the empire. The army was the basis of power, the only reason why dynasties were a thing, even though family wasn't important in deciding who ruled, was that it was the natural way to past down power to the next generation. The Roman Republic tried to have elections decide leadership, but the Roman Republic collapsed anyway and the transformation into an empire was a necessity for the Roman State to maintain itself.
The plutocratic oligarchy of the senate was the Roman Republics downfall which led to the necessity
of a slightly more meritocratic system of succession to preserve the unity and security of the Romans.
Rome was a military dictatorship it was Byzantium and the HRE who degraded into hereditary monarchies
Yeah Rome was more of a military dictatorship than a monarchy
@@matthewryan3798 from augustus rome was a monarchy and it's a fact. He was an autocratic ruller who had heirs and heirs were his adoptive sons. It's really cool that you used the same music for both Augustus and Constantine's deaths. In many ways Constantine was a new Augustus. What's funny, though, is that Constantine's death was much more of a high note than Augustus' death was, and yet the music still feels fitting for both. Diocletian chose cabbages over the empire... never a more perfect love story.
Whenever I feel bad, Whenever I feel down. I just watch Constantine giving the Praetorian Guard their just desserts. Cheers me right up.
These intros make me desperately want a anime based on Rome that’s dedicated to historical accuracy
@Pecu Alex
Rome anime now or we nuke japan 2 more times.
@Pecu Alex
Hell, I'd want the people who did the *"Vineland Saga" (the name of the anime your talking about)* to either be the ones to make or partner up with some other studio to make a longer running series around some of the greatest and not so great emperors of the Roman Empire. That and possibly some time devoted to developing some interesting characters that grew up in say the hight of the 3rd century crisis, like maybe a young legionarie working his way up the ranks as civil war breaks up the old empire and even getting to see the story of a courageous young Christian that desperately tries to cling to her faith in the face of the cruel persecution of Christians throughout the Empire. These kinds of stories would be really dope to tell and interesting periods of history to explore with ofcourse that good'ole anime flare to it!
@@navilluscire2567 i'd rather want one about Ceasar
In the Orthodox Church hes considered "and equal to the apostles" if I am not mistaken.
Yup
He's also a Saint in Catholicism, together with his mother Helena.

Thanks for the info friend, also Constantine was a Chad.
Gregor Eisenhorn Greetings Inquisitor Eisenhorn, you’re here studying the chads throughout history as well?
@@lordofhostsappreciator3075 Constantine, unlike his mother, is NOT canonised by the Catholic Church
I keep coming back for the intro and 17:16. Amazing moments. Now I want an anime on Constantine.
song name?
@@AllahTheMoonGodwithALLAT Navras. It was used in The Matrix
The longer this show goes on, the more it transforms into a musical, and I love it.
Also that nonchalant 180, from Christcuck to *ONE TRUE GOD*
13:45 - How much useless you have to be to get your cavalry surrounded by infantry?
And how much of a genius chad you have to be in order to surround your enemy cavalry with just infantry.
Usually genius moves are mainly done by exploiting your enemy's incompetence
Duke of Lorraine woah duke haven’t seen your comments for a while
Laughs in the final season of G*me of Thr*nes
@@bartolomesantinovaughnnc.7188 I have less free time since I started my PhD.
Well i cried for Aurelian but im weeping for Constantine.
I'm cheering for the Praetorians.
And I’m sobbing for Majorian
lol I just now noticed on my second watch that the intro song says "hero" but with the very japanese accent sounds like "chi rho", very cool detail.
This is nothing short of art
This is true
those who are wondering what the lyrics say when Constantine btfo's virgin Maxentius, they are Sanskrit
Original lyrics:
Asato maa satya gamaya
tamso maa jyotirgamaya
mrityo maa amritamagamaya
Translation:
From untruth, take me towards the truth
From the darkness, take me towards the light
Free me from mortality and guide me towards eternity (immortality)
The song is Navras by Juno Reactor, which is the adaptation of the Pavamana Mantra (the lyrics)

Me when hearing PRAETORIAN GUARD ABOLISHED:
Jumps out of bed and starts dancing
What a true master piece. Absolutely beautiful with the narration, intro, and ending. Truly amazing
If you ever felt useless remember Praetorian guards duty is to protect the emperor
I want the epic story of how Diocletian was flung through a portal in time and sent six centuries into the past 😂 8:40
Are you denying the power of diocletian and his cabbage

Last time I was this early, Rome was just seven hills
You know, it sounds dumb, but this video did actually restore my faith in God. Take that information as you will
Wonderful thing to hear, bless you
Mate can I just say that you are truly one of the best out there. Combining both history and humour to create a learning and entertaining experience. I love you man please continue to work hard!!! My one complaint is that you don’t upload weekly but I don’t blame you for that the work load is too great for a sole creator but you still manage to do it biweekly and it’s honestly amazing. Thanks for doing this mate
Here before he has to reupload to take off the opening.
@Gary Oak copyright
Doubt that would happen, he edited out a lot of the tunes
@@jonelsonalex140 yeah but you still want to have the original as they are intended
