I can't really knock the NHS too much as they've kept me alive for the last 60+ years having had 8 life saving operations.
However, towards the end of September 2021, I asked my GP if I could get an appointment to see a specialist and he agreed that I needed to see someone ASAP due to declining health.
Waited some 6 weeks before I received a letter saying I have an appointment in June 2022. Two weeks before that appointment, I received a letter saying that it's been cancelled due to _"unexpected circumstances"._ How did they know that in two weeks, there would be an unexpected circumstance? 🤔🤷‍♂
So June came and went and in July, I got another letter with a new appointment. For March 2023.
So for an ASAP appointment, it only took 18 months to finally see a specialist. And all he said was what every other specialist I have seen, has said to me. _"Due to the amount of surgery I've had, (50+ operations!) no surgeon would dare do any surgery on me unless it was to save my life"._
And last time my missus who's an ex nurse called an ambulance for me, the ambulance came from another county! But it only took 45 mins! I suppose being taken ill at 2 am has it's benefits. But then the ambulance crew have to wait till I've been seen by a doctor and he'd _taken charge of me_ and that forced the ambulance crew to wait for over an hour. Doing nothing.
    _C'est la vie..._

The wife is a senior nurse in charge of a big A&E by night in an area totally run by labour for 3 decades and always way behind England's NHS results. When it comes down to ambulances outside A&E in a labour or Tory area it's mostly down ambulances control gold command not following people like my wife telling them to divert to another hospital with space and under 25 mins away as they all can see the trusts live A&E numbers.

The National Health Service isn't. It's Regional, and Trust based. The "service" accruing to the general public can vary markedly from region to region, and even NHS Trusts within a region. Good management is the key. I can''t speak highly enough of the Freeman & RVI Hospitals and staff in Newcastle. Hexham and Sunderland are reportedly good too.

@@OldGeezersDiary tell you why ? Really ? Do you not know that every Tom Dick and Mohammed is coming over to the UK in order to use our NHS under the guise of asylum seekers and 40 year genius foreign students? ( and their families )
