Do I have to have the move objects cheat on to use the alt key feature?

If you have a macbook these are the controls:
-Move object freely: hold option
-Lift object: hold control & press 9(for up) and 0(for down)
Also her are some other controls that help in build mode:
-Enlarge things: [ or ]
-Rotate objects: (,) for left and (.) for right
-Switch between Sims 3/4 🎥: CTRL+Shift+tab
-Pause: press 0

i’m trying to figure out how to interact with objects OUTSIDE of a lot grid in the sims 4???? there’s a garbage plant literally 1 square outside of my lot and i want it gone.
You will most likely have to use a mod for that! I'm not sure if there's a way to get rid of it it through live mode or not though.

Is there a was to do this with doors or windows? I want my front door to be centered :(

Why my object keep went to the ground, not sliding on air even though i already press alt?

@@Herby345 i'm doing that, but it still doesn't stays in the air, it goes to he floor
First place your object normally onto the counter/table/whatever, without holding any keys, then you move the counter away (your object will move with it as it should. Then hold alt and select the object and move it where you want. After you place it where you think it should go, place your counter back.I believe this is what you meant. Hope i explained it well!

Simarchy when i press the alt key on my macbook air ... it doesn’t move the item freely. it only moves it on a big grid base. (i am new to the sims, sorry if i don’t make sense.)
the item i’m wanting to move around freely is the “just for me basket” and i want to move it onto the “sea horizontal dresser”. but i can move other items freely by pressing alt. maybe it’s just the item itself??
i’d be so thankful if you could help. btw, this video helped me with the cheat code. TYSM!!!
edit: it has come to my attention that i cannot freely move objects on that dresser thing. is this a glitch or is this just how it is? i really want to have multiple things on my dresser that don’t collide

This helped out a ton when building a mansion, with a Luigi's Mansion style hallway, and big bedrooms. Mostly I used it to place shoes near the front and back doors.
I used to play sims all the time and I had totally forgotten how to do this. Thank you!
