    BBC reported that a landlord was trying to rent out the cupboard under the stairs with a mattress in Clapham London recently for £500 a month…

      Typical greedy landleech behaviour. No shame. Just utterly disgusting greed.

    Most viewers will not be looking for the cheapest or most expensive rentals. If you could do this again, focusing on more typical one bedroom listings for, say, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, I imagine that would be far more useful for your viewers

    Hi Stu, Would you consider doing a follow-up video explaining the process of how to rent, what is a normal deposit, what is the normal notice to give the leasing company if you want to move, etc.?
    There probably are other CZcams videos on the subject, but I feel more confident about the acuracy of information from a familiar presenter.

    Great video Stu,Campanillas is about 15 minutes from central Malaga on the C2 commuter train which runs from Alora to Malaga centre then joins the C1 commuter line that runs to Fuengirola luckily our property is 1 mile from the C2 line so although we are in the campo we have great transport links

    Really good video Stewie.
    So relevant for anybody thinking about a long term move to Spain.
    Rental prices are astronomical. Higher than in Australia on average, yet unlike Australia. Wages in Spain in general are so ridiculously low. As you and I would know.
    I think the main problem seems to be foreign investors and tourists that are taking over that country.
    With zero protection for the locals from the authorities.
    It's sad to walk around just about any Spanish cities centre and notice nothing but tourists. With more and more local businesses and customs disappearing.
    More and more tourist apartments on offer than ever.
    Suits the government fine as they collect far more taxes through higher rents. Unfortunately a dire situation for the locals that find it virtually impossible to live in their own cities these days.
    Keep up the good work.
    Hopefully we can catch up again this September when we visit Spain again.
    Salu2

    I like the idea of adding real estate videos. I’d think they could be themed, like beach or city living for a family option or working couple, singles maybe…you know, like
    for what one would imagine is the typical renter maybe. Could be a few minutes on Stu’s pics too, so your idea of a deal maybe-not an endorsed thing, just your take. I would love a look at Sevilla and Cádiz, the Canary Islands? Maybe even BUY videos for like 150K 250K, and such, you know what American would likely buy all cash as a 2nd maybe. Anywho I love the idea, can’t wait to see how this develops.

    Thanks, Stuart. This episode was very informative. I was sort of assuming the low end rent amount for places in Madrid or Barcelona would start around 800-900 euros per month. Makes me feel better about moving to Altea. I have no problem living in some dinky, little studio apartment. I'll be out & about most of the time anyways. Added the Idealista app to my phone.

    Malaga especially the centro histórico has shot up in the past few years, going there on a Friday or Saturday night the place is absolutely buzzing with trendy bars and restaurants. It reminds of being in central London! A few years ago Marbella used to be the more expensive place to rent or buy but now it’s the other way around Malaga centro histórico has overtaken it and quite frankly it’s a much better place!

      Malaga rents are completely out of control and the centre has become a tourist trap. Sad to see, seems Malaga has sold its soul.

    Hi Stuart, nice channel! I am happy to rent my furnished chalet in Cerceda this summer for 3000 € a month. It has a swimming pool and a 1000 m2 garden. No problem with parking space. It is located at a walking distance of 600 meters from the Cerceda Aldi, and there is a bus stop there where you can get the 876 bus that takes 35 minutes to get into Madrid. Bicycles available for free upon request. And the garden in surrounded by a fenced hedge so dogs are welcome and cannot get out.

    We lived in La Marina Urb from 2019 to 2020 moved back to the States because of Covid. We are now wanting to move back to Spain and Granada is high on our list. What do you think of Granada? We have been checking rental prices and it seems doable.

      @diegodejuan4825 Před 4 měsíci

      Granada is an incredibly beautiful city and close to mountains and the sea (although the beaches I think are not at the top in Spain). Beware, It can get a bit cold in winter (in the Spanish scale of coldness).

    Does anyone know if the deposit in Spain is fully refundable? In the US the deposit (AKA security deposit) is fully refundable in a timely manner as long as the tenant leaves the property in undamaged & clean condition when the lease period is over.

    • @NancyRuthMusic
      @NancyRuthMusic Před 4 měsíci +1

      It's supposed to be, but it depends on how honourable your landlord is. If they don't return it, there's not much you can do about it.

    And I forgot to mention, imagine if the government legalized any type of narcotics. The same strategies would be applied in order to find the greater fools to extract as much money for a product not worth the cost.

    My God!! Some of the places aren't fit for a dog. People might as well buy a cardboard box and sleep in it. What a joke the housing crisis has become. FK real estate agents, speculative investors and rich foreign investors.

      Hola Martin, like I mentionned in my comment, Idealista is not to be trusted for all its content. Like Stu said, they allow anything to be put online without verification and that's when the scammers like to take advantage. Same goes for the RE agents as they'll create a sense of panic or urgency around certain listings and the psy-ops is essential to try and lure people in. It has become nasty and unfortunately the internet is still the 'wild west' for many illegit practices.

    Stu.... Logic would dictate that most of the Spanish Jobs are in the major cities of Spain... Therefore rent Will be alot more expensive...costal towns Will be cheaper because less people live there all year round and have to work in the big cities...A no brainer really.... Tony cuenca
