Just gave my flock a bath (just a normal one, no one is molting here). My budgie Sky decided she wanted to bathe with Buddy the cockatiel (well under his run off lol). So, now I have soggy birds on my shoulder lol. Seems I am a lovely perch to preen on. Seen you had a new video up! :D My budgies love chirping to your cockatiel's sounds.
Love collecting the feathers from my 5 birdies. Not sure what I am going to do with them all, but still collecting them lol!!! It is a good thing they don't weight much!
I hard-boil my eggs, then mash it up (after they are chilled), shells included!!! My parrots love the extra calcium opportunities. The first time I ever gave Buddy this, he loved it, even though he had never had it before! Really great way to help females get extra protein and calcium when they are laying as well.
Is that avian tea safe to use when it comes to coating their feathers? I know you should never use anything aside from water because it will mess with their natural oil glands and the oils they have preened onto themselves already. Never heard of avian tea feather spraying. Just curious if it was suggested by your avian vet?
Also, I was going to buy that sprout mix you guys use, when I realize I can get all of those same seeds from Amazon for 1/5 the price they want. All organic. Sprout able. Nothing against anyone trying to make money, but $15 for 1lb of sprout seeds is insane, when you can get 5lbs for $20. Finding organic sellers for mung, brown rice, lentils and buckwheat isn't that hard to find, at least in the USA. There is a huge organic craze in this country lol...
I had to be really careful though, you type in organic, and some non organic things still show up top of the list. Cannot wait to sprout them, I guess they are also really good for people to eat. Might be able to finally get some veggies in my own diet :P (I was thinking of just swollowing them with water, like pills lol)

Hey An, thanks for the comment!
Sounds like plenty of bathing fun to be had lol. Budgies have such cheeky personalities. Yeah shoulders and arms make the best post wash preen posts!
Sophie does too! She has so many. I think she wants to use them for crafts or some kind of jewellery. Maybe you could do something similar?
Sounds like the perfect way to prep them. I forgot to mention the shells! Also true, great supplement to any female laying eggs!
The tea is absolutely fine to use. It's all herbal based and was created by a PhD who has studied lots on avian nutrition. Normal tea is 100% NOT safe to use, but these specific blends are. If you're careful where you get it from it's fine!
We have checked it with them, and they basically mirrored the above (IE it's fine if you're careful what you use)
Great deals! We had some bad some experiences so in some cases prefer to pay a little extra for safety. Many places provide great deals and exactly the same product for less. But as you say, people use terms when they aren't true! Organic is thrown around everywhere!
There are tastier veggies to try for humans though lol It's all in the prep!

My friends lorikeet will play in the kitchen sink (with toys) and a dripping tap for an hour. Cons, don't leave plug near by as they can pull it in to sink allowing it to fill with water and drown. Also, if they use the concept of a sink as a bath, they may try to jump into your hot dish water hurting them! Dont use warm or hot water to bathe.

      Hey there,
If he is actively ripping them out with an audiable sound and it's leaving bare patches then it could be plucking or indicate a problem (such as a skin irritation!)
If he is just removing lose feathers through preening and there's no sound or sign of irritation then it's just the usual moulting!
