I had tongue cancer in 1984 and it spread from my tongue to different lymph nodes under my jaw & chin. After 3 rounds of intravenous chemotherapy, 2 surgeries and weeks of radiation therapy I lived to see my son graduate from high school & college, get married and father 3 children. I was born in 1953 and am now 70 years old. You too can have a long life!

My mom is 77 and had mouth cancer on the roof of her mouth over 30 years ago . They made a mistake in the dx and originally told her she was terminal and would need radiation and chemotherapy but in the end she needed none of that . They did a radical surgery that otherwise if it was what they told her it was still would NOT of saved her. So we are very blessed that the mistake was made and that we still have her living her best life with 3 great grandbabies, and 8 grand children and 3 children. If she can get thru all the reconstruction stuff she went to to make her mouth a mouth again you can do it too your in my prayers

My wife (at age 30) was having terrible backaches, fatigue, and constant constipation. I begged her to go to the doctor. She refused because she grew up in a military family where all the doctors were quacks. After one year she started bleeding and finally went. It was too late, stage 4 colon cancer. The doctor told her with surgery and chemo she had two years to live. Exactly two years of the most excruciating pain, she finally went to be with the Lord. It has been 31 years and my two boys and I still miss her. We love you Karen.

When he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer it was too late for treatment, it wouldn’t fix anything except make him sicker and was told to enjoy the quality of his life for the next 6 months to a year. There was no quality of life. Colon cancer is a painful way to die. He lasted 13 months before he passed at age 62.

It's not as bad as you would think! I was awake when I had both a double procedure back to back one morning 2+ years ago - a Gastroscopy followed by a Colonoscopy. The Gastroscopy without any anesthesia was worse, more uncomfortable due to my natural Gag reflexes. I also have a Seizure disorder, so we had 3 Assistants in the procedural room, and my Doctor waited again before she actually inserted the camera successfully down my throat to do the Gastroscopy.
My Gastroenterologist used extra lubricant for the Colonoscopy, which made it easier. The Colonoscopy was actually the easier procedure, more comfortable throughout..even when my Gastroenterologist had to cut off 1 Polyp that she found. She sent the extracted Polyp to the Lab for Cancer testing after showing it to me. Luckily for me, it was malignant, not Cancerous, not Colon Cancer.

As hard as it is to hear about a colon cancer diagnosis, I am glad that you did follow up and having treatment now. My mother had colon cancer after finally getting fed up with continuing abdominal pains. She taught me what to do if I saw any symptoms, and being a 1st degree relative, I went in for a colonscopy as soon as I noticed something wrong. I did have polyps removed, which were benign. I keep up with follow up colonscopies, which have prevented further complications. It seems that we do have a family history of colon cancer and two of my brothers also have follow up colonscopies when they are due. I'm writing this long note to wish you luck and to hang in there. Hopefully, if anyone reading this and may be afraid of a colonscopy, don't be. Just go and have it done. You will be able to know how you're doing. God bless you, kind sir!

That is the honest to God truth! My Mama was still a young woman when she got cancer of the female organs and the doctors gave her one year to live. She lived 20+ years and met all of her grandchildren. She was cancer free when she died in 1998. The doctors said there was no medical reason she should have lived. But it was her determination to live to take care of her three daughters and see them graduate and get married they kept her alive. At one point she looked so much like death at 90 lbs. Plus she had lots of people praying for her and she prayed constantly. Her doctors even said divine intervention.

It’s for this very reason the cancer scare that I absolutely stopped getting any kind of physical examination from any doctor at all. I haven’t had a physical and 20 years and I absolutely refused to see any doctor if I get cancer it was meant to be. I won’t get treatment if I ever do get cancer, because the stuff they do to you as even scarier than the cancer itself

I’m really sorry you’re so anxious; that’s hard. It’s obviously your call, but a lot of cancers are eminently curable when detected early.
I’m no expert but cervical cancer, bowel cancer, breast cancer and Hodgkins come to mind for starters.
I actually agree that some treatments are utterly gruelling…but they can also be utterly worth it.
My ex had treatment for hodgkins when he was in his early 30s; it was so tough, he considered stopping…but he didn’t and he’s now a 60 year old happily married Dad of twins with a great career (& no cancer).
Catching it early is the best way to avoid horrible treatment (or, to be brutally honest, an unpleasant & untimely demise :-0)

I’m sorry to hear this…my suggestion to you is to look into holistic/natural ways to help your cancer by juicing and not eating foods from the center of the store. Also, gut health is really important like bone broths are very helpful. Sorry to say, but the medical side don’t really discuss much about changing what you are putting into your body like what your eating and drinking makes a huge difference. Processed foods and eating out a lot are not good choices either. There’s a saying by Hippocrates: Let thy food be thy medicine or your medicine will become your food! I’ll be praying 🙏 for you! I hope this helps someone! 🙏❤️🙏

I had my first colonoscopy back in the 90's. I was awake off and on. I could see the screen. I saw the doc burning (?) off some small polyps. Afterwards, in recovery, doc came in and spoke with my husband and mom. I had a polyp that blocked 2/3 of my colon. From what i understand, most polyps have a cap and a stem ( formed like a mushroom). Mine was all cap, no stem. He removed what was safe to remove. I went back in 6 weeks later. It had some greyish black coloring. That came back pre-cancerous. The prep work for a colonoscopy is not easy. It sure is the easy part of KEEPING things right in our bodies. 😊

I, too, was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma December 2015. I had surgery to remove a foot and half of my colon and they removed 21 lymph nodes to test to see if the cancer had spread. Luckily, it hadn’t so I was diagnosed stage 3. About a year later I was having chest pains so I went to the cardiologist and they found 3 tumors in both of my lungs where the cancer had spread. Stage 4. I underwent chemo which shrank the tumors and was given a year and a half to live. I changed drs and found a place that offered me the option to get ablations to burn out the tumors. I had all three ablated plus another tumor that showed up. Ive been on daily chemo with medication I take at home (4 pills). I decided to change my habits so I started walking, strength training and I CHANGED MY DIET!!!! I cut out sugar and processed foods!! I’m now in remission for 3 years and off of chemo pills!! You can do this!!!! Changing your diet will change your life!! I wish nothings but the best for you!! Sending you much love and prayers🙏❤️
