This little pocket handheld is my go to for trips currently. With onion os aswell really opens the device up.
The screen on my analogue pocket is so awesome it definitely is my favorite little handheld for everything until the ps1 era begins. I have the 353v and 35xx as well and they are amazing for the price, but unless I’m playing ps1 or newer I’m grabbing the pocket for that amazing screen and build quality of the device.
On the Castle Vania game, you jumped over the monster backwards like ah pro😂

As soon as you mentioned the RG353V during your live stream, I was compelled to place an order for it right away! 😁 Now, all I need is to dedicate some time to personalize it with my preferred games. Although it arrived with a variety of pre-loaded games, I've been enjoying those for the time being. Thanks for making this video, I hadn't thought about getting the Nintendo Game Boy with the green screen and the pixelated look.💖💖💖

Tbh the build quality of the AnaloguePocket makes it worth it to me. There’s enough plastic in the ocean that animals end up eating and the next thing you know the salmon im eating gives me mercury poisoning.

I really like using my RG35XX. Mainly Gameboy and Atari 2600 games (using GarlicOS). Nothing like firing up Asteroids on the 2600 to just blow up some rocks.

Still my main go to! Faster and better performance than the 35xx and near perfect performance on the android side for psp, n64, saturn

I love my anbernic. The battery life is killer just used it on a 4hr flight and it held up like a champ with minimal battery drain!

I have the Pocket and a couple handheld emulators. I can't tell the difference in accuracy. Still, the handheld emulators play more systems and have better support for things like save states, retro achievements, online multiplayer, and the interfaces are just gorgeous. The only thing they don't do is play your physical cartridges. The screen on the pocket is also leagues ahead of the best-looking emulator handhelds and modded handhelds that I own. However, if I could only have one I think I'm going with my Miyoo mini plus. 2D arcade games and PSX is what's most important to me.

I just received this as a gift, I have no pc and don't know what I'm doing. Any help from anyone would be appreciated.
Did it come with an SD card? If so there should be games on the sd card
If not you’ll have to download roms somehow. If you don’t have a computer you can use your phone I think if it’s not iPhone and has an sd card slot. Only problem with using a phone is you might have to find some sort of fill unzipper. Don’t quote me though it’s been ages since I used a phone to get roms or emulators
I got the RG353V that came with an SD card of games, and I have been enjoying playing it. I just don't know how to do anything past that.
Unlike the Analogue Pocket and everything Analogue makes, the Anbernic is actually available to buy. Like click a button and and a few weeks later bam! It's at your door.
Last 3 drops of Pocket have been very easy to get, quality isn't matched either. Howerver I use an Anbernic on the road, Pocket while at home.

Fun fact: It's actually Game Boy and not Gameboy.
The Analogue Pocket is a sleek looking system capable of playing original cartridges and it has an amazingly rich screen. It also matches the actual original Game Boy color much better and closest than anything you can get on a cheaper handheld emulation device which shows it being a bit too green. Russ from Retro Game Corps mentions this in his "Playing an Original Game Boy" video, which he appropriately titled it "Game Boy". What isn't cool is the company themselves who held onto people's money for over a year and some people didn't get their units and they went ahead and started releasing newer units before some people ever got their first ones.
I wouldn't spend $200 or $250 on a handheld to emulate games with their openFPGA cores though. The menu itself is boring to look at. Very plain. For $80 or less, you can get a great emulation handheld that's capable of doing PS1 and more (unlike the Analogue Pocket) that has a vibrant IPS screen with more buttons and you can scrape your library easily to include colorful box art, preview videos, manuals in PDF format you can view right on your device, and game descriptions. And you can view these on the fly as you scroll through your library. You're not going to get that on your Analogue Pocket ever. Best I've seen on the Analogue is a little black and white marquee of the game and you can't see it until you click on the game itself. Kind of useless.
I went with the P version bc i have big hands. No regrets.

Gameboy emulation on the ambernic systems is great. I love playing Kirby dreamland for gb and streets of rage hacks on mine. Neo geo also is great on there.

full disclosure, i have an anbernic but hardly use it, probably because i have SO MANY other ways to play games, including evercade, switch, old handhelds like my ds, 3ds, gameboy, playdate, not to mention my chicken boi handheld (hehe) but it's great, plays vectrex and atari 800 games, too. i really need to play with my anbernic more, thx for another great video
I can relate lol! But they are great to have I think, and worth keeping around whether played often or not. Side note: My Atari 2600+ arrives tomorrow!! 😱

I got mine for $94 through Temu. I've had it for just over a month but haven't put it through its paces yet since I barely travel. I like it so far but the downside is I find the screen too small to read the text on most games (even with my glasses). I figure if I end up getting another it will have to be horizontal with a larger screen, like the retroid pocket 3.

@@NEONBattleBitch you're over complicating it. No need for gels of any kind. Just a file, and nail clippers will do you some good, especially if you're that busy. 5 minutes is all it would take.
You'd probably get more views if your nails had some care put on them. Just look at other reviews with hands in the forefront and compare.

Nice review! In the case of using it as a console, can you hook up like an Xbox or an 8bitdo controller to use rather than the system itself?
8Bitdo for sure, haven’t tried others. All you’d have to do is plug the HDMI into your TV and use a controller - BAM - console mode 😉
How is the HDMI out consolised experience? Does it output widescreen signals for widescreen games or do you end up with double black bars?

It's pretty clean. You can manually adjust the picture aspect in the emulator settings menu :)

I'm thinking of getting an rg353 device and want to be able to use it as a true hendheld, but also a retro console and would likely change between modes a couple times a day.

That screen really is worth it in person though. I’m not interested in nodding original hardware myself and pricing is similar if you have someone else assemble that for you.

There's no contest compared to the Pocket, but Anbernic's and Miyoo are still very good for what they are. I keep an emulator on the road inb my backpack and the Analogue Pocket for at home.
