Sadly this seems to have backfired very badly.
It’s imposed militantism, asking those players to kneels is nothing else but totalitarianism. Forcing someone to support a cause independently of his own beliefs or lack of them is totalitarianism at it’s core. Don’t pretend they have any choice. Imagine if one of them would refuse to kneel, he would soon be prayed upon by social media, his teammates, commentators, they wouldn’t defend him in the name of freedom of speech (because you can’t think freely anymore).
What we see here is the western version of North Korean citizens « spontaneously » expressing their love for their leader or against american imperialism during those propaganda military parades.
