    I just love how fondant makes amazing cakes or cupcakes, I just hate its taste and its difficult handling in a city like mine where everything is super humid and hot.

    • @nazia2164
      @nazia2164 Před 5 lety +1

      Brix Perez I agree about the humid part. My city is so hot I'm almost scared to start working with fondant

      I have this issue 3 seasons a year, it is definitely challenging! I like my winter cakes, so much easier though then the furnace dries the fondant and it wants to crack. Can't win.

    Can I use anything other than vegetable shortening?

  • @noori6982
    @noori6982 Před 5 lety +7

    Can you use something other than shortening to lock in the moisture of the fondant? I just wrapped my fondant that I coloured and planned to use later in cling/saran wrap and stored it in an airtight container in my pantry.

    • @wilton
      @wilton  Před 5 lety +4

      Unfortunately, we cannot recommend a substitute for shortening. If you prefer not to use shortening, try double or triple wrapping fondant tightly in plastic wrap before storing in an airtight container. If the fondant dries out a little, you can try kneading a very small amount of water into the fondant to add moisture back in.
