That is very fascinating! My husband works in slo motion imaging and he was commenting how much work this video would have been. That’s not always appreciated by viewers but we certainly do xx thanks
that's a lovely comment, thank you 💕

It's pretty much a food science video
We need more CZcams creators that put the amount of effort that she puts in
I love how you put so much effort into adding the stop motion to your video, I appreciate the time and effort that you put into adding that little bit of detail that I think really pays off in the final version of the video. I can only imagine how long it must take to not only mix the fondant but do all the stop motion that goes with it, I’m sure there’s little room for error without having to redo the mixing all over again.
yes stop motion takes a long time but i love it 💕💕
@@HowToCookThat Yeah I was watching this wondering which took longer - kneading all the different colours together for the video, or doing it fancy whilst filming it a frame at a time to create the stop motion. Its ridiculous the level you go to to produce these videos, but very much appreciated!

Was I the only one that thought the “red” fondant was orange???🤔 I think it’s the camera playing games
Same
Same omg
Same 😆 i dont see red at all
Same here
Sameeeee i thought i was tripping
I can only imagine how sore her hands are.
there was lots of mixing 😁
I’m feeling super colour blind
That red fondant def looks orange to me
Lauren Jones yes. Thank you. I thought I was the only one
It could be the camera. Sometimes colors don't show very well in cameras and look completely different from real life.
Lauren Jones It was the camera. During the stop motion part you could see that it was a much brighter red.
most color does this, it's called a warm red, because it's leaning toward orange. colors are entirely perceived by how our eyes perceive light reflected off surfaces, none of them are ever really a perfect primary color, and it's very hard to achieve, and even if you do, people tend to see an off color and not exactly what you see. Also computers and cameras don't relay colors exactly, they only relay the reflection of light onto the recording, and our eyes have to complete the image when we look at that rendition, with only that light and any light in that room as reference, but also including the blue light mixed in from our phones and screens and any surrounding light or sunlight, and thats a lot of light reflecting off one image into our eyes, there's almost no way it's the exact color she was seeing, to her it's probably not nearly as orange until she attempts to mix it with cyan. A lot of people will argue that a very reddish orange is totally red, because they just don't catch the subtle difference with their eyes and they can't see a difference that minute, but some of us can. The red is red, but it's a very warm red that leans orange instead of true neutral red which would be very hard for people in factories mass producing it to achieve, they probably went with whatever was the easiest and closest to a vibrant red in quality control, and didn't care if it leans orange and can't make purple with blue since blue leans away from orange in all cases. Also why you can't mix it into cuan, a green blue color, and get purple, it's like mixing orange with green.
It really is an orangish-red. She said that you can't obtain red with the food colorings unless you buy it but that's not true. If you mix yellow and magenta in more or less equal amounts you should have a pretty decent red. Keep in mind this video uses the same colors as a printer: CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key for black) so if your printer can make red so can you! The rest is just some experimenting. Take this as a reference for more or lees equal amounts of each:
Cyan and Yellow make green
Yellow and Magenta make red
Magenta and Cyan make blue
If you want to make purple you just add a bit more magenta to the blue. If you want to make orange you just add a bit more yellow to your red. That's how color theory goes in painting and printing.
The worst part of the video is when it ends. 😢😢
But seriously you are my favourite youtuber! Your so talented and always put a smile on my face!

You’re not just passionate about baking, you’re the scientist of baking. Most of the viral cooking videos are loud but empty, yours are quietly brilliant. You inspire me beyond just in cooking (I don’t even cook) 🤓 Thank you for doing what you’re doing.
I’ll rewatch this video every time I use fondant! Thanks Ann! 🎂🎂🎂
2:23 1 drop of red looks like the perfect amount for a skin colour though!
with a lil bit of brown yeah
There is no such thing as *skin colour*
People can be white, tan, brown, black etc.
i know, but no one is pure pink. XD
Stop Clickbait they’re just saying it would be *A* skin color, not *THE* skin color, but she did have a lot of other skin tones with the Browns and others that she mixed

So pretty and inspiring!
It would be so hard to mix in the bag, it would take so much longer.. if you are really concerned about colour getting on your hands, you can always use gloves. The colour will wash off your hands anyway..
I find it way easier working with _anything_ with your hands. It is easier and way faster.
But apart from that this video was amazing! Saving alot of errors and wasted time!
the editing is remarkable... your effort is much appreciated even a year later 😂
Ann has the most soothing voice in the world. I always watch before I go to bed!!

Beautiful rainbow fondant, Ann.
😊😊
clever animations :)
Reardon Bros yes! There so nice!

agreed
-Hi- Hai Ann!
I agree ☝️
I thought the fading was due to a loss in moisture, but light sensitivity makes so much sense. I use Americolor gel colours and I noticed the True Red and Forrest Green colours fade - I'll mix it, roll it, finish my cake, and come back later to a duller, paler cake. If you're putting a sheen coat over the fondant it brings the colour depth back, but you can't have a matte finish at that point.
I never thought of flavouring fondant, I've been making marshmallow fondant from scratch (ie, melting gelatin and sugar, blending to fluffy marshmallow texture then adding powered sugar) to control the flavour, but mixing peppermint essence into fondant is such a great idea.
If you have a little leftover you can just roll it into little balls and once they dry you have homemade sugary breath mints!
TooManyKats It was air exposure that caused the lightening

I loved that stopmotion part! Amazing work!
A fabulous tutorial for anyone hew to baking, or just didnt know how to do this :) Would recommend to anyone who was new to it! I can say that I learnt something!
I know nothing of baking and don't like the taste of fondant, but I still learned so much about color theory from this video! You seem like such an expert both in your field and in making videos!
Your nails are always on point💅 Question : Does your wedding ring ever get in your way when you bake?
Nioce!👌
My friend hates the taste of fondant. *insert me taking a large breath* I LOVE FONDANT! IT TASTES GREAT 👍
You’re one of my favorite youtubers so keep up the good work! ♥️
I wish I could work with fondant. Singapore weather is hot and humid, the worst possible combination for fondants. I've tried using it once, and within 5 mins, the entire piece was sweating and melted and sticky.
Try egg white fondant. It's really humid where I am too. During rainy season I use egg white fondant 😊
singaporean here :)
I add a bit of cmc (it makes it hard though) or as soon as I am done I put it away in a sealed cardboard box.
Try Dolce dita's fondant. She's on youtube
Ahlora Chew I suggest working in an ventilated kitchen it’s better I live in a very hot and humid place too
Love the stop motion! This video will be helpful for me, thank you Ann!

I love all of the stop motion, Ann. As a student who has taken a few animation courses, I can truly imagine how long that took.
Y’all keep taking about how the red looked orange but you fail to mention that she used stop motion in her video! You guys aren’t Mentioning how much dedication and time the stop motion itself must have taken!! Not to mention how much time and effort the whole video itself took!? This video is one of the best “how to” videos on CZcams.
I have been a cake decorator 30 some years & this is the BEST advice on mixing color I've ever heard or seen. With Black fondant I mix a charcoal gray and it intensifies to black by the next day.
Love this informative style, Ann!
Me right when the deep red color is mixed through: "oh, it created a nice deep salmon looking color!"
Ann: "and now you can see, we have red fondant."
Me: "Oh."
I love how much effort Anne puts into her videos. Especially with the stop motions.

Yeah that "red," is definitely more orange than red, which is why it made that brown colour with the blue (when complimentary colours mix they make that grey/brown colour).
And I thought I'd point out that a primary red (not the store bought/ready-mixed stuff) would make a purple, which is why the pink works better. Oh btw, loved the video! That stop motion must've taken ages 😂.
That's because red and blue aren't primary colors
@@gimygaming8655 yeah they are
@@usele22_reptile69 czcams.com/video/NVhA18_dmg0/video.html
Educate yourself and don't believe the lies that are passed down to you... it's magenta, cyan, and yellow.
@@gimygaming8655 Primary red is more of a pink. Vermillion probably is the standard red you'd normally think of, again more orange than red. No clue how blue isn't a primary colour though, obviously the normal primary colours are blue, red and yellow, and the primary colours of light are blue, red and green (light works differently to physical colours, if that makes any sense? Like red light + green light = yellow light, but if those were paints it would just be brown because they're complimentary colours).
@@usele22_reptile69 if you mixed cyan, magenta and yellow you wouldn't end up with a dirty muddy brown right off the back. You didn't even watch the link.... your reply confirms that.
Thanks for all the work put into this video. Much appreciated
Thank you for keeping this so entertaining while teaching us! You're awesome!
For the first one she could of put on gloves and mix it
I love wilton the colour right kit was just rubbish
Brilliant! Thank you so very much Ann!!!!
When I saw that blue measuring spoon,
I have those, omgosh I have the same teaspoons as Ann!
The reason why red doesn't make purple with cyan is because cyan isn't blue. Pink is to cyan as red is to blue, which is why pink works
I would still use pink and cyan as your base colors though, they're brighter and more pigmented so you'll have less of a chance to get a muddy color. Or maybe there's another reason why Ann recommended them instead. I know how colors work on paper but not fondant 😅
Juusan013
For pigments or dyes (like food colouring), the primary colours are yellow, cyan and magenta.
@@ragnkja Thank you 😊
Juusan013
I don’t get why she says you can’t get red, since printers use yellow and magenta to make red, and she shows how to make orange by using more yellow than magenta.
@@ragnkja Theoretically you should be able to, in paints it works. Maybe it's hard to get a true red when mixing pigments?
There are a number of reasons red doesn't really work, for mixing, or why it's difficult to get an attractive bright or deep pink with red coloring.
1. Most red dyes skew towards brown. Adding brown tones to red makes it look richer and like what we think of when we think red. Most things that look like a super intense red have strong hints of other colors.
2. You want to mix colors with the same intensities. When people think of a primary yellow they think of Big Bird or canary yellow. When they think of a primary blue they usually think of something a shade or two lighter than royal blue. Royal blue and canary yellow aren't really the same intensity as red, even if it's a pure red. Magenta is roughly that intensity.
There are other reasons, but those two are the simplest.
Since u r a great chef 👩🏼🍳.... u have great knowledge of food .. can u plz tell me is octopus ok to be consumed by muslims ??🤔
the_cat _lover I think so
Yes it is.
Why would you ask a non-muslim a question about muslim beliefs? Ask a scholar who has studied & practiced islam for more than 10 years. These are the people who you should seek when you have question regarding islam or muslims. And to answer your question, no, muslims can't consume octopus.
I’m just super amazed at how she comes up with cool ideas every week👌❤️
Wow the motions were very satisfying and so cool!! You put so much work into this!! The k you for taking the time to!!!

Why don’t you just take
Yellow, red, blue, black and white
Then you have all the base colours
Red and white make PINK
And then you don’t have to by the pink food color
