Great episode guys. I’m glad the politics didn’t come into it too much. I’m typically socially liberal and fiscally conservative, but in the trades so many lean right. I just want us all to be happy and do well ✌🏼
My mom does a lot of work with Career and Tech Ed, originally for the state of Michigan but now at a somewhat more local level for the tri-county area around Detroit.
She’s always mentioning her connections and says anytime I’m ready to join a Union and get that pension at 20 years, let her know.
I just feel, and this might be more common than many will admit, like it’s scary to make that change. I’ve worked at three non-Union companies and of course most of the guys bash unions because they had one bad experience, or they “know a guy” who isn’t happy. But generally like you guys said there are pros and cons to all forms of work and leadership. That pension is very appealing.
I was never a handy kid and wasn’t around construction at all, so I worked pretty hard to learn plumbing. I tested for my journeyman three times, but third time was the charm. The questions were tricky and I think the state inspector that wrote the exam had his kid draw the pictures. They were not great.
I love Service and Retro, and typically only enjoy finish work on New builds. Always residential. I give the commercial and industrial guys a lot of credit, but it’s not for me. I like helping people out in their homes.
Currently studying for my backflow certification and I think within the next couple years I’ll try for my Master. I never considered getting it but as I get older it’s more appealing. I’ve been doing this for nine years so why not 😆
Bit or a ramble but outside of work I don’t hang out with any trade guys, and you guys are ALSO nerdy. So it’s nice 😎
Oh we try to not let politics creep into our podcast episodes. We are just there to have a good time and discuss the topic at hand from our personal perspectives. We appreciate the listen and the support!
