No 6/4 497?
How would you compare any of these with the longtime champ, the 86/186? I was *this close* to ordering a 496 with gold brass valve tubing when I ran across a perfect 186 for less than half the price and grabbed it.
I keep wondering what I’m missing by not going for the 5/4 496 Hagen instead.

Thank you sincerely for your Enquiry. First of all we hoped that you have enjoyed the video and we are glad that you found it informative.
We currently do not have the 497 (6/4) Hagen in stock. The models 186 and 86 are considered as „Champs“ because of its stable Intonation and light response. However the models 186 and 86 are way smaller in terms of size and dimensions in comparison to the 496 Hagen. Moreover factors like the bell size affects the volume and resonance of the sound; with the 5/4 Hagen having a way larger bell fitted on it. Naturally as a result having a much smaller instrument you might lack ( or miss ) the depth in sound.
However if you are in Freiburg and planning to buy a Bb Tuba you are most welcome to try the Hagens 495 & 496 at our Store !
