In this video, I share how to make your own song lyrics and come up with song topics to write about and generate endless songwriting ideas for beginners.

I created this formula as a result of those days when the muse decided not to come out to play and lyric writing inspiration was nowhere to be found.
This video takes you step by step through a simple formula I created and I hope it gives you the same results it gave me.

I think if you apply yourself to these exercises, you will at the very least, get some benefit. Free writing for example won't necessarily result in a finished lyric, but it could spark that one phrase or seed that later becomes a song.
I often look at paintings or photographs (either family/friend or from around the world) & come up with a song/lyric based on what i see or feel from looking at the picture. Sometimes characters jump out or places or just an emotional response to it. 🙂 1 of my ways of lyric writing
Maybe you already know what you want to write a song about & maybe you have no idea ,this system will work for you either way using as little brain power as possible
1:Formula (Idea 1 + Idea 2) (Theme + attitude/emotion = tons of lyric ideas)
2:(Idea 1 house) (idea 2 sale) put them together mean (The house is for sale)
3:Now think why would a house be for sale ,the first thing that come to mind is moving on or loss so there we have a basic ingredients for a song (Theme)* (Universal Theme )*
(If you have no ideas & dont know how to fit them into your theme ,what emotions to apply & how to use it all to get lyric & song ideas )
4:Then Set a timer for 5 mint & keep writing whatever that comes in your mind ,after that read it back & see if any ideas interest you & make a note of them
5:Pick 10 random facts about yourself or someone else if you can't think of any random facts just Google personality questionnaire
6:Ask yourself what is new in your life or someone else or world?
What has changed ,What have I acquired /lost?
7:Use headlines from internet ,news anything this can also be done with random words & phrases from news ,articles,advice columns & lyrics
8:Pick a photo or a picture from Google & write about that
9:Pick a line or title from a movie,quotes,cliches,memes, catch phrases ,ad slogans & pom durables words use a random word generator to come up with 2 words
10:Use nouns,adverbs,verbs ,etc ,descriptive words & put them together conversations, get ideas from your or someone else conversation & experiences
11:Now what do we do after we found our ideas ,here's ex from headline 1 from a miss universe headline & 1 for my headline about a volcano in new Zealand
12:Now pick a theme (universal theme) ex (regret) now pick an emotion/ attitude ex weird
Formula (Miss+ Volcano) ( Regret+Weird)=tons of lyric ideas
13:Now just start brainstorming ,if nothing comes to mind just use these 3?s
(Even draw a picture how does this miss volcano look like )

Tech N9ne has said he gets ideas by sitting watching tv, with all his horror DVD's right there. He opens one song with the following line: "Michael Myers, man I'm mental, messy murder, monumental"

Another great video. What do you reccomend for songwriting without having access to an instrument? I always used to come up with music first, but unfortunately all my instruments are currently not with me.
Cheers Jason. there is a website called jamstudio.com. you can easily put a chord progression and even a full arrangement together using their samples, plenty of different styles, instruments and it's really easy to use. hope it helps.

I have so much inside me that it feels like a gut punch that it won't come out. I always envied songwriters as I thought it must be very cathartic to be able to pour your angst out like cuming and crying at the same time. I would like to write something one day that fills someone with sorrow and love and melancholy and nostalgia and happiness. The thought that someone might feel these emotions while singing my lyrics is just too awesome to imagine. Let it be me for once.
