Are you familiar with firearms? This will be your first firearm? This firearm is a 45. If you've been shooting multiple calibers and like the 45, Springfield has some nice ones. I have a 4inch xd mod 2 in 45acp. It holds 13 rounds and is thin ! Most 45 pistols cant hold that many rounds because it gets to fat to fit in the hand. Out of their current selection of firearms, I think this is the best deep concealment edition. Then for a more capable gun I'd go with the elite series. Looking at their website, they have no current double stack sub compact 45s. The elite should be coming out pretty soon 👍🏻
@@maximusjoseppi5904 That sounds like a plan for the future no question but isnt the xd mod2 45 13+1 , I just realized this after my purchase because everything everywhere was sold out

no, you dont need one unless for some reason you dont mind paying $2/rd and only shoot 45 super and dont use 45acp 99% of the time and 45 super for defensive ammo.
@@maximusjoseppi5904 I just wonder what the wear and tear on the XDs would be with occasional 45 Super usage. I might use it for carry, but I'd have to test it for function and accuracy first. Also, I'd probably use more conventional projectiles, like 185 or 230 hollow points. Thanks
Great, I wanted to buy this gun, but now I'm second guessing. 😂. I carry the Glock 43X, 10+1. Your exactly right, with the Springfield XD-S mod2 your definitely giving up capacity compared to the sig.
For anyone reading this... if you want the best performing grains for 9mm or 45acp you’ll want to get 9mm Extreme Defender 90 gr +P (not +P+). In 45acp you’ll want to get the 120 gr +P. Also don’t get confused getting the Extreme “Penetrator” version. As that one is more for animal predator defense or LE shooting through Car doors or walls.
This is my every day carry gun. Very reliable. Hundreds of rounds out of mine and never had a malfunction. Never saw the 6 round magazine. I have a 9 round and a 13 round mag. Even with the 13 round magazine it is easily concealable with a button down shirt. I also prefer the .45 cartridge. 9mm rounds are like BB's and there are plenty of videos out there showing how the 9mm has no stopping power. I want the first round to knock the hell out of the badguy.
@@MkArmy101 ---Came with the handgun man. First Stop gun shop in Rapid City. I just got up and pulled the magazine because you made me think I may be crazy. I'm not. It's the XD Mod 2 in .45 caliber with the 3.5 inch barrel. Came with a 9 round mag and a 13 round mag. Really good gun. Hundreds of rounds and never a malfunction. Accurate and easy to shoot. Great grips.
I think it was a poor business decision not to offer 7 round mags for the xds 45 mod 2. I usually carry my old XDs with the 6 round mag and 2 7 round back ups. Might push some people to look at the M&P Shield 45.
I have Springfield Mod 2 3.3" .45 in double stack, holds 13+1 rounds or 9+1 rounds if you use the flush mag, so I conceal carry with the 9+1 and have a 13 for backup. If I'm inna situation where I need more than 23 .45 rounds I'm probably outta luck anyway.
@@MkArmy101, I believe you're thinking of the single stack configuration. My double stack doesn't take mags smaller than 9 rounds. The grip is a bit wider than in the single stack version.
.45 super and + P.+ is overkill and difficult for follow up shots. I had a friend who was a mash medic in the Korean War and he told me he saw body's shot with 230 grain .45 hardball and that it blows big holes out the back.
If I want the double stack 45 I carry the XD Mod 2 Sub Compact. But mostly I carry my XDS 45 Mod 2. Practice and you shouldn’t need more than 7 rounds to put someone down anyways.
There's a substantial probability in a low probability scenario that you would need more than 7 rounds. Defensive shooting is very tricky and there's lots of unknown variables such as lighting and injuries and number of attackers and movement and so on... If I carry this, I only use the larger mag and have a 2nd in my pocket
I had the p365 I ended up selling it and now I'm looking for a new piece. I'm afraid I won't find 45 ammo and well that's another concern. I've never owned a 45 so I dont have any ammo. I want to know if they sell an extended magazine for the Springfield. The biggest problem will be hiding from the wife. lol
There are 13 round magazines available for the XD-Mod 2. My Mod 2 came with one magazine in 9 rounds and one in 13 rounds. I also got a coupon for 3 additional magazine of 13 rounds in the mail from Springfield Armory for free. The XD is a double stack and the XDs is a single stack.
@@sycamorebacker1 safer, for incompetent untrained negligent individuals, sure. theres no valid reason to carry without a round in the chamber, its just something new or untrained gun owners do. it renders the gun useless for the vast majority of self defense scenarios you would ever encounter.
The reason Springfield kept the XDS 45 a single stack .. due to the overall diameter of the 45acp .. even if the XDS 45 was staggered stacked .. u still would maybe at the most .. get one round.. maybe
I carry a maxim 9 in my pocket all the time so anything is a pocket gun for me. Have it in my pocket this second But yes, the xds is certainly a pocket gun.
Also Underwood doesn’t make a +P+ version for the 45acp. They only have a +P. And it doesn’t fly at 1,600 ft/sec. it only does about 1,420-ish at best out of a 4.5” barrel.
@@ccwstraightshooter9761 any 45 can handle 45 super if you're only loading it for self defense and shooting a couple boxes a year. 45 super isn't meant to be a practice load.
Maximus Joseppi yes that’s my perspective. Only for self defense. Is there a gel test out there on CZcams? Love to see one with pork ribs denim t-shirt out of 3.3” barrel with this round. How come you didn’t buy the double stack XD 45 mod.2 3.3” instead for more capacity? It’s not any thicker than a G19. Although your 6 round XDS is pretty darn thin.
You are not even close with your comparison, the .45acp is a much better concealed carry gun, just because of the way more lethal .45acp round... a thinner hand gun may not feel as good but is way more comfortable to carry for long periods of time then a thicker grip double stacked handgun... and yes in a self defense fire fight the .45acp round is more lethal and will stop any physical threat a lot faster then any 9MM round, and the .45acp round ballistics are more accurate and can be fired just as fast...
I have a legally purchased Springfield XDs .45ACP that's not had a single round put through other than the manufacturer's test for sale. It comes with all the original materials in the original box. I live in South FL. I've got pics for anyone interested. We can work out a fair price.
@@kevinrichardson8859 I am in South Florida. I was simply suggesting that further communication happen directly between us now and not here in this CZcams comments section - for example, email or via phone.
45 super is it's own caliber but it's essentially 45+p+ delivering 620-700ft/lbs of energy. Works in any quality 45acp gun but if you shoot a lot of it you need to get stronger recoil springs
I have the xds in 40 cal an sure it’s single stack but I wouldn’t call it a pocket pistol 🤣 I’m not putting that in my pocket . I use it for home defense . My p365 is my carry
They're closer to pocket pistols than home defense pistols. Any single stack is made w CCW in mind. You should get a double stack for home defense unless you got baby hands. Have you even owned or handled a fullsize duty or compact pistol? If so, I don't see how you'd laugh at this being a pocket gun then to suggest it as a viable HD option is just misleading (it's likely enough but there's better XD's to be had for HD). Putting me being a dick aside, why make any compromises on size when it sits on your nightstand 99% of the time it's when you're not out back or at the range shooting it. And no doubt, you'll appreciate the extra ammo if you were to need it which u might w the robber having the advantage of the element of surprise. Counter that w preparation which is largely training but gear also plays a role. If you're suggesting a single stack 40 as a HD, you need to reevaluate your firearms knowledge or lack thereof.
The OP is missing the point...it is a single stack because its a .45 ACP cartridge! It is substantially larger than a 9mm cartridge. Comparing these 2 pistols is silly IMO.
The 3.3 bites hard and jumps it's a 45 in a 3-inch barrel don't kid anybody, like Hickok45 said it got a bite, he installed a 4-inch barrel slide it was better.
5.7 makes all its ballistic capability with velocity. In a little bitty pistol like that you're really robbing an already not great cartridge of a lot of its potential
If you don't need more than 5 rounds in a real fight, you got really lucky. Defensive shooting is very tricky and there's lots of unknown variables such as lighting and injuries and number of attackers and movement... If I carry this, I only use the larger mag and have a 2nd in my pocket
@@maximusjoseppi5904 Stats vary depending on the source but most say 2-5 rounds are used to stop an attacker. They also note that sometime many more are required due to variables you mentioned. A 45 vs a 22 would be a huge variable. No way would I carry 5 rounds of 22 or a 22 with a dozen rounds. Even if the first shot was lethal it still might take 30 minutes for the guy to drop. The objective in a self defense shooting is to shoot until the threat has stopped, and if 5 rounds of 45ACP inside 7 yards won't do it I'll load my stuff and deliver it for him.
i dont base my knowledge and preferences based on arbitrary statistics gathered and created by incomplete and unofficial data sources. take a force on force tactical class and watch real life accounts of self defense shootings. there is a high probability in a low probability scenario of you needing 10-15 rounds of any handgun caliber you use. the amount of rounds needed to stop a fight are directly correlated to the capacity of the gun being used haha, ergo, people just empty the gun and thats what you generally should do. so while you are already preparing for a very low probability scenario, why overlook the decent probability of needing more rounds.. and if you have to shoot something in self defense, you are not going to shoot once and then wait a moment to see if it stops attacking. you arent going to shoot twice or 3 times and see if they stop attacking. you should be shooting continuously until it stops advancing which in this particular gun will 100% be till its empty.... at which point, if its not over, your gun would be now taken out of the equation. handguns are horrible at stopping threats, 5 rounds will very likely not be enough unless you get lucky and its a very mild threat in perfect conditions. it all depends on what you want to be prepared for and what scenarios you want to able to defend against. 5 rounds limits you to only the easiest and mildest of self defense situations.
@@maximusjoseppi5904 Never said or suggested overlooking the need or probability of needing more rounds. I'm 100% in favor of ME winning the fight and will use any and everything I can get my hands on. I work in an area where the probability of being robbed by multiple thugs is higher than getting hit by one which is why I carry a CANIK with 16 rounds of 9MM. When I'm not at work I carry 8 rounds of 40 S&W in my XDS Mod 2. I bought the 40 because they were out of 45's.
Everything Sig! But I own no 9mm guns..If I could carry a bazooka for self defense I would...Traded All my Springfield, Love the XD mod2 but I haven't forgiven them yet.

I really like mine but you can't go wrong going to a range and renting a variety to find out what works best for you . Good luck !
They make these in 3 calibers, all three identical except barrel bore. 9mm, 40 cal, and 45acp.
I would strongly advise you to go to a gun range and shoot a .45 cal first, then try a 40, and a 9 mm, only then should you make a decision on your first handgun. Good luck, safe shooting.
No don't get either of these for a first pistol . They're both polymer striker fired POS pistols. You should get a DA/SA to start, advance to a SAO .
Don’t listen to him. Hold it in your hand, feel the fit in your hands, test fire it, and buy what you personally like
Those rounds look pricey Do they feed well a lot of edges Have you actually ran some through ?
Also on the 365 The 15 Rounders🤯 Tactical Development has some really Comfy base plates did a Vid on them and painted to match the Coyote.
I have an xds 4.0 and it fires the 45 super extreme defenders just fine.
You are comparing a single stack .45 to a double stack 9mm. Of course you are not gonna be able to double stack the .45
The XD 45 is double stack. All calibers of XDs are single stack. He should have compared the p365 to the XD 9mm.
@@thebusterdog921 Can someone please help me I have a problem my XD is empty but everytime I dry fire the trigger it stays stuck and won’t come forward again until it’s racked is that normal!?
@@thebusterdog921 If anything he should have compared the XDS to another comparable .45 ACP Subcompact. If there is a double stack 45 that is comparable in size, that would have been worth while
@@almightymontana3865 yes
@@almightymontana3865 Yes that is normal. The slide must cycle before the trigger comes back forward.
Just picked up Xds Mod2 ... I havent takin it to the range yet so the video was very helpful ,,, but im second guessing myself now thinking i should have purchased the Xd mod2 instead for more purchase on the grip and also the extra rounds ... I just hope i made the right decision !!!
Out of their current selection of firearms, I think this is the best deep concealment edition.
Then for a more capable gun I'd go with the elite series.
Looking at their website, they have no current double stack sub compact 45s. The elite should be coming out pretty soon 👍🏻
@@maximusjoseppi5904 That sounds like a plan for the future no question but isnt the xd mod2 45 13+1 , I just realized this after my purchase because everything everywhere was sold out
@@michaelalfeo4185 yes, the xdm is 13+1 but it's a full size gun. They have different purposes. It came out about 7 or 8 years ago, the elite coming out is an updated version of that so just wait for that one.
@@maximusjoseppi5904 The Xdm elite 3.8
@@michaelalfeo4185 I hope they make the 45 in 3.8 as well, that would be perfection in my eyes.
You're comparing a 45 acp with a 9mm. The P365 would only hols 7 or at best 8 rounds of 45 acp. Get the XD if you want a double stack.
Can this hold more than the regular xd 45 subcompact ?
No, the XDs is a single stack, the XD is a double stack.
The Busterdog ah shit it’s an xds I thought this was xd
I find all of the XD pistols (except the XDM elites) have a lot of mush in the triggers but I shoot them well so I can't complain.
If you say this trigger is bad you've never felt a bad trigger....This trigger is amazing compared to some other companies. It's not BAD. But it's not the best. For the price and performance of the gun its literally exactly what I expect.
I do not know why, but I had to visit my toilete after watching this video..
the new S5 Version has some improvements, like red fibre front sights and better trigger, i like it
I have it love it but need longer magazine
He said no round beats the 45acp....except.357 mag, .357 dig, .40 s&w, 10mm, but other than that I agree
45 super, pay attention.
And everything is better than 40sw and 357 mag isn't a semi auto caliber. 🤣
Did you have to put a stronger recoil spring to run 45 super?
no, you dont need one unless for some reason you dont mind paying $2/rd and only shoot 45 super and dont use 45acp 99% of the time and 45 super for defensive ammo.
Thanks
@@nokoolaid zero.. putting 20-60 rounds of it a year will have zero effect on your gun.
@@maximusjoseppi5904 Thank you.
Note that Springfield doesn’t make these anymore and they were recalled at one point due to the grip safety not working.
That was the Mod 1. They stopped making them because they replaced them with the Mod 2 shown in this video.
Love my xds with 7or8round mgs shorter mags to short my hands
Great, I wanted to buy this gun, but now I'm second guessing. 😂. I carry the Glock 43X, 10+1. Your exactly right, with the Springfield XD-S mod2 your definitely giving up capacity compared to the sig.
Seen the xds 45 carry 13 in a video count me in
Send me video please
For anyone reading this... if you want the best performing grains for 9mm or 45acp you’ll want to get 9mm Extreme Defender 90 gr +P (not +P+). In 45acp you’ll want to get the 120 gr +P. Also don’t get confused getting the Extreme “Penetrator” version. As that one is more for animal predator defense or LE shooting through Car doors or walls.
Guess I'm the only one wondering why the trigger didn't reset toward the end....
He didn't rack the slide after he pulled it.
Want more capacity get the mod 2 dbl stack, 9+1 flush mag" rather than 5rds flush mag , but 26oz empty, compared to the single stack at 21oz,
This is my every day carry gun.
That's because it's a 45acp. No such thing as a 9 or 13 round mag for the XDs in 45acp.
Where did you get a 13 rd?
@@MkArmy101 ---Came with the handgun man. First Stop gun shop in
Rapid City.
@@thebusterdog921 that’s false there is a 9 round and 13 round mag for it
@@bobbybooshay8641well that’s bc u obviously thought he was reviewing the xd mod 2 not the xds
They already make an XDs with OSP rail.
I think it was a poor business decision not to offer 7 round mags for
the xds 45 mod 2. I usually carry my old XDs with the 6 round mag and
2 7 round back ups. Might push some people to look at the M&P
Shield 45.
I have four seven round mags for my XDS get them a gun mag warehouse they're pretty inexpensive
@@edwardfielder8383 Is your Xds a mod 2?
Why not make a mag for XD s at least an 8 round single stack . They should of added two more in mag.

Where can you get a 13 rd
@@MkArmy101, if you live in a communist State like California or New York you can't get a 13 round mag legally.
@@warpartyattheoutpost4987 no I wondering where I can buy a 13 rd xds mag. The highest they make is 7 I thought
@@MkArmy101, I believe you're thinking of the single stack configuration. My double stack doesn't take mags smaller than 9 rounds. The grip is a bit wider than in the single stack version.
.45 super and + P.+ is overkill and difficult for follow up shots. I had a friend who was a mash medic in the Korean War and he told me he saw body's shot with 230 grain .45 hardball and that it blows big holes out the back.
overkill? you mean can we make it any stronger
Maximus Joseppi Agreed but that’s what backup mags are for.
Lot of background noise, do you live next to a waterfall? lol.
I had the p365 I ended up selling it and now I'm looking for a new piece. I'm afraid I won't find 45 ammo and well that's another concern. I've never owned a 45 so I dont have any ammo. I want to know if they sell an extended magazine for the Springfield. The biggest problem will be hiding from the wife. lol
I’m with you! Lol.
@@billionaireinvestor awesome and thank you sir
Why would you NOT have a round in the chamber?
i know people that dont because theyre worried about their kids ever grabbing it or new gun owners who it just scares them.
@@sycamorebacker1 safer, for incompetent untrained negligent individuals, sure. theres no valid reason to carry without a round in the chamber, its just something new or untrained gun owners do. it renders the gun useless for the vast majority of self defense scenarios you would ever encounter.
The reason Springfield kept the XDS 45 a single stack .. due to the overall diameter of the 45acp .. even if the XDS 45 was staggered stacked .. u still would maybe at the most .. get one round.. maybe
Give me 7 rounds of 45 over 11 of 9mm anyday
Is that really a pocket gun?
I carry a maxim 9 in my pocket all the time so anything is a pocket gun for me. Have it in my pocket this second
But yes, the xds is certainly a pocket gun.
Yes it is a pocket gun. Unless you add the red dot and light. Then you'll feel the difference.
Yes fairly comfortable
Also Underwood doesn’t make a +P+ version for the 45acp. They only have a +P. And it doesn’t fly at 1,600 ft/sec. it only does about 1,420-ish at best out of a 4.5” barrel.
They do. It's called 45 super kiddo 👍🏻
Maximus Joseppi is the XD rated to handle 45 Super?
@@ccwstraightshooter9761 because I carry an infinity firearms custom 2011 if I want a double stack 45 on me. Have it on me now.
Was thinking you were in south Florida (Broward County) and wanted to sell it...I have the cash and all necessary credentials
@@kevinrichardson8859 I am in South Florida. I was simply suggesting that further communication happen directly between us now and not here in this CZcams comments section - for example, email or via phone.
Never heard it referred to 45 super .
45 super is it's own caliber but it's essentially 45+p+ delivering 620-700ft/lbs of energy.
Works in any quality 45acp gun but if you shoot a lot of it you need to get stronger recoil springs
Maximus Joseppi ok 👌
Pretty sure he made that point in the video. The size of the gun is similar I think that is the point of comparison
The 3.3 bites hard and jumps it's a 45 in a 3-inch barrel don't kid anybody, like Hickok45 said it got a bite, he installed a 4-inch barrel slide it was better.
That grip is so long it could easily accept 15 round 5.7x28mm mag. Sadly, no one makes pistol like that.
5.7 makes all its ballistic capability with velocity. In a little bitty pistol like that you're really robbing an already not great cartridge of a lot of its potential
The XD 45 sub compact mod 2 is a better choice
really hope you never have to use those rounds from either weapon..
Made in Croatia?!
All XDs are. The guns were designed in Croatia, springfield just bought the rights to the designs and rebranded them

If you need more than 5 rounds of .45 to stop an attack you're in the wrong fight.

It's not a Derringer, but it is a pocket pistol.
Not if you wear skinny jeans 😂

I don't see that pistol handling the recoil of .45 Super, my HK45C doesn't love it but does it and that is vastly more robust than this pistol.
