This was the first gun I purchased. I love it. Never had not one issue while firing & I've put about 3000 rounds down range with it. I know people complain about the "grip zone" but I actually like it. Great weapon.
Does it have a safety? Would the California version of it have it?
@@4EyeFoxbody normal trigger safety and one on the back of the grip if I remember correctly, but no safety lever on mine
1911 style safety.
This will be my first gun as well, went to my FFL to fill paper work for transfer today and while I was filling it out ups man dropped off some boxes, as soon as I drove off he txt me saying my gun arrived lol. Still have to wait for BG check so it’ll be in my hands soon 💪🏽💯
The "grip zone" branding is silly, but I think even a hardened cynic would have to admit it feels great in your hand.
Somebody posted a very accurate comment on this guy: "hickok45 is like the Bob Ross of guns", i couldn´t agree more, its relaxing and fun to watch these videos 🙂
I rotate carry pistols, but this model is the one I have carried most frequently in the last five years. I use the small mag when I feel I need to be more discrete, but normally go with the big one. It is a superbly reliable firearm. I slip a light onto it when it is on the bedside table. Thanks, Hickok45, for another fabulous review.
I love the sound of walking on shell casings and gravel it’s like music to my ears. Hickock is the god of the gun world! He absolutely destroyed that cinder block.
At 4:30 when Hickok walks on the range all you can hear is empty shell casings and shotgun shells being kicked around. Love it

Just bought this
I was on the fence as I have (9) 45's of different brands. I do have (2) XD sub compacts (1) 40 & (1) 9mm. Now I will add a .45 XD Sub in the grip zone format. "Life is Good".
For anybody that wants this gun to carry I recommended I have the compact 45 ACP shot 2500 rounds through it the gun is amazing I love it every day carry 13+1

I'm the pistol, dealer/gunsmith clerk for the county and I had to laugh when you mentioned having to control your buying of some of the guns you test. I have about 15-17 dealers I take care of and they really great guys and are very generous and they always come in with super deals but I have to bite my tongue and say NO! Well I couldn't resist the XD that one dealer brought in, so it's on its way and I always watch your video on that gun that I'm going to purchase, thanks again Mr. 45!!
Hey hickock45 I have enjoyed and valued your videos. They have helped me understand things I once thought I knew. Ex army here and it's nice to be humbled once in a while. You are a heck of a solid shot. Thanks for the review, I just ordered one of these...I had the Glock 30S but could never get used to the glock grip angle. I held one of these today at the store and the grip felt like heaven (and I knew where to grip since it told me where the zone was..)

Enjoy watching your videos (and wishing I had the range in my backyard that you do) and learning new things about both pistol and rifle. One comment you made in this one on the different "loudness" levels of the 3.3 in barrel and the 4 .0 in barrel. Just as the longer barrel will lessen the recoil due to the extra weight, a shorter barrel will should louder than a longer barrel. Not sure just why but this has been my experience. My guess is the longer barrel allow more area for the gas to expand before the bullet exits the barrel.

Just bought my XD last week and I just broke it in at the range today and I love it
For a .45 carry gun, I think SA hit the sweet spot with this gun in
terms of capacity and concealability. Not too heavy, very manageable
recoil and 100% reliable as have been all of my XD pistols. One thing I
would definitely recommend is the Pearce grip extender for the 9 round
mag. I have pretty big hands and I like having my pinky resting on the
grip. Even without it, I was very accurate right out of the box at 40
feet. I paid $388 delivered from grabagun...a steal for this package (1x
9 round and 2 x 13 round mags and a nice case.) Maybe they shouldn't stamp "grip zone" on the grip...seems to really strike a nerve with some folks...that said, the grip is very comfortable.
I picked one up about 9 months ago and "grip zone" is not printed on the grip. So they stopped stamping the grips with that sometime late 2018 or earlier. Great little gun, pleasant to shoot, dead reliable (had some malfunctions with old steel-case ammo, otherwise none), and a good trigger imo.
Good stuff! Certainly one I'd like to get my hands on. S.A. is really doing it right.
But we are all winners with all the great competition in the marketplace.

Never say it is likely your final gun purchase. You can't have too many guns. I am 61 and have accumulated 41 firearms. The Zigana PX9 is my latest, preceded by the Tisas Tanker .45acp.

Your review was a big factor in me purchasing one. Perfect for daily carry on the ranch. Have dropped coyotes and 1 hog. Had to put a sick cow down and it was fast. Keep up the amazing work.

Bought one of these about almost 2 years ago as my first/only daily carry weapon, and your video DEFINITELY helped me make the choice. I was originally looking at the XD-S .45, then I saw this video and found one about a month after in my price range and I'd say (including pre-covid times) Ive put about 2000-2500 rounds through it and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for the great content. (P.S. Im about 5'9"-5'10" so I typically carry with the 9[+1] in, but always keep two spare 13 rounders with the "GripZone" extensions on me. Lmao)

haven't tried, but if the mag is double stack, i don't see why it wouldn't work. just keep the package and receipt in case it doesn't.
Love my Springfield XD tactical, accurate!!! I took out a crow at 110 yards with it! These pistols are reliable and accurate!!

I used to carry a full size 1911. But had to go to something smaller. Just bought a XDs mod 2 osp..I love it.

Bought one of these when they first came out to replace my XDs 45. It's my EDC gun and shoots exactly like this demo gun. I shoot it regularly in IDPA CCP EX. Very accurate and run just as good as my Glocks. Only downside is IWB carry. Just a little thick as compared to my XDs. Ordered a Kramer leather rig to carry OWB and it's perfect. If you are looking for a subcompact 45 this fits the bill.
You need to get a Bud's Gun Shop sign for the range, shoot it up a little, sign it and put it on display in Bud's.

It's my second handgun ever besides the M9 (unless you count my sawed off pistol grip breach loading 20 gauge shotgun as my first "pistol") and I just tracked down a Pearce finger extension for my 9 round mag that matches the stock texture. I'll do a review and installation video when it arrives.

Was able to pick one of these up after watching this video from my local gun store, was listed almost $80 under retail so i snatched it up. Edit: After firing about 300 rounds through this thing i can attest that it is indeed accurate and feels great.

Just bought one and looking very forward to taking it to the range……great video!
Finally made it to the range with this one. Federal HSTs on the money at 7-10 yds. Very comfortable to shoot. Fiber front site is easily acq. First few rounds were using the front sight to determine shot placement. I then switched to proximity mode and all hits were in the black circle. Current EDC with 10 rd mag as back up. Got it on sale on GB, now difficult to fine in lieu of the xdm series.

Hickok45 I own three Glocks and had to have this pistol. It shoots great and conceals great. I edc my Glock 26 and my HK VP9SK. I should edc my Glock 19 but that’s a whole different story. Keep up the great reviews!!

slow ass 45 acp
45 is a fat slow round in comparison to 9mm and other smaller calibers. It loses velocity as the distance increases but still surprising you could kinda see it like that.

Lol @ people complaining about the words "GRIP ZONE" on the gun who cares!!...so what! .the grip or ergos feel great...its a long but very smooth trigger pull...I carry this same gun ...and with 13 plus 1 of 45 ACP with a slim very comfortable grip...I feel very confident!!

This gun is a very fun shooter I purchased it after owning a Taurus pt145 that I loved but after researching on the Taurus I found where the pt145 as well as other models total of 9 are currently in litigation for a drop safety issue and an unsafe gun I will not own so I seen your review on this xd45 mod 2 and after getting one in fde and putting 300 rounds down range on target I can't say enough good things about it . So I just wanted to say thanks for a good honest bias review I know your a glock guy but I have watched dozens of your vids and linked a few to family and friends and everyone seems to enjoy your work and after all is said and done. I must agree with you( Life Is Good.)

I love my XD Springfield 45, it works wonderfully on undesirables, and does its job on old ladies that like to cut in line at the WalMart. Too , it just heavy enough to pistol whip small dogs that yap a lot !

I own this weapon and it is a pleasure to shoot and carry.
John Tomai John just out of curiosity I carry the xds as my conceal carry is mod 2 a double or single stack
All Mod 2 are Double Stack. And its about 1/10th an inch thicker in the grip. So.... if your really trying to squeeze down size by carrying an XDS your gaining 1/10th inch slimmer grip, and the reduced weight due to carrying less rounds. Its a trade off that honestly is up to you. Summer shorts scenario, XDS all day long, anything else then my Mod 2 is easy and carries like its not even there.
