  • Apple Cobbler or Apple Pie???? You Decide!
Let me know in the comments...do you think this sweet, delicious dessert is a pie or a cobbler???
    Recipe Notes:
    **Preheat Oven to 350 degrees.
You will need the following ingredients:
6 medium apples, cored and sliced (Do not peel apples for rustic dessert)
**You may add lemon juice to keep apples from turning brown/oxidizing.
    1 stick, unsalted butter
    Cobbler Batter:
    1 and 1/3 cup self-rising flour
    1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup milk (2% or whole)
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine ingredients and stir until lumps are removed and mixture resembles pancake batter consistency.
    Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:
Combine 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon to sprinkle on sliced apples. (You may add lemon juice to apples to keep from turning brown/oxidizing.) Sprinkle another portion of sugar mixture on top of outer cobbler crust - about halfway through the baking process as crust begins to form.
    Recipe Instructions:
    1. Slice Apples. (Add lemon juice to keep apples from browning)
    2. Melt 1 stick of butter in baking dish in oven.
    3. Add cinnamon sugar mixture to sliced apples.
    4. Pour cinnamon apples into melted butter in baking dish
    5. Pour cobbler batter evenly over the apples.
    6. Place baking dish in oven.
    7. About halfway through baking time, add cinnamon sugar to edges of crust and across top of cobbler.
    8. Bake at 350 for approx. 1 hour or until butter is fully absorbed and cobbler crust is browned and caramelized/crusty on top. (Baking times vary)
    For Homemade Whipped Cream: (Optional)
    1 cup heavy whipping cream
Add remaining sugar/cinnamon mixture (to sweeten whipped cream)
    1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whisk heavy whipping cream until soft peaks form
Serve whipped cream on top of cobbler (or top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream)
    Enjoy and Be blessed!

This is more like a buckle. A cake where the fruit "buckles" the batter when it rises! Great recipe

For this recipe you can use a sturdy apple such as Gala, Honey crisp, or even Granny Smith if you want some tartness. Choose any apples that you love to eat. ❤️
