    Paula, I've made these SO many times, for many years! I've even used Sprite and Ginger Ale when I didn't have Mountain Dew! One time, out of desperation, I had to use Coca-Cola....hahaha. Not bad either! Also, if you really want another twist to it, use PUFF PASTRY!! Better than Cresent Rolls to me. Cut the sheets into triangles and do the same. Puff Pastry is my best friend!! 🤣

    Never heard of this which is odd because Mountain Dew used to be my drink of choice! I just celebrated my 2 years of no soda! Big thing for me because I always had a bottle or glass in my hands of Mountain Dew Code Red. With that said Mountain Dew doescome in many flavors. Code Red is cherry so I bet it would make a great cherry cobbler! Live Wire is orange. White Out which is I think pineapple (oh I can taste that one now). Jet Black which is grape. Baja Blast which is berry. And a few others. Some are no longer in all market areas. Thanks for sharing.

    Miss Paula, I looked up the question about the caffeine...apparently the "Mountain Dew" acts like a sugar during baking, BUT DURING THE COOKING/BAKING PROCESS ,CAFFEINE STAYS IN THE FOOD . The nurse/chemistry geek in me had to look it up lol. Btw,we have some Wonderful Apple & pumpkin etc orchards here in NJ.
    If you'd like, let me know & I can send you the names & info. There's one Orchard my Hubby has been going to since he was a toddler & his Dad & Grandparents before him. We've taken our children there as well since they were babies (adults now) They did sell off part of the Farm. It still a good size Orchard.

      @Annett Armstrong --- Try making this with Splenda or Equal Granulated Sugar Substitute (not the packets of sweetener, but the actual granulated sugar substitute that has a 1:1 ratio, 1 cup granulated substitute = 1 cup regular granulated sugar, generally). You can also use diet mountain dew to cut out the sugar there too. Just watch your cooking time as with the granulated sugar substitutes, generally your baking time reduces a bit as it will cook a little faster than regular sugar. I've used the Equal Sugar Substitute to make Lemon Meringue Pies and no one could tell that they didn't have regular sugar. 😊

    This is a great recipe! I have made it several times. I don't drink Mt. Dew either, so I always use Sprite instead. It taste wonderful. You should try it and there's no worries about caffeine. ☺

    This was too funny watching you make this! We've been making it in North Carolina for years but we call it fruit dumplings , not cobbler. And we make it with 111, 1 cup sugar 1 cup butter 1 cup water same outcome. I did see the Mountain Dew recipe at some point and I used Diet Mountain Dew couldn't tell any difference in flavor. Now if you want something really good buy canned yams and roll those up. I've used every fruit there is but yams are my favorite! I've also made three pans of these then put them in a crock-pot on warm to take to company lunch.

    I had almost forgotten about these! Years ago, I used to cater Thanksgiving Dinner for my mother and her co-workers and this was the dish they always requested for dessert except we called them Apple Dumplings...thanks for bringing back the memories!! :)

    More calories I guess, because I’m headed to the grocery store with adding Carmel sauce on our ice cream & these tasty crescents! Who cares, fat & fluffy but more of me to love, and I’m happy! Thanx Paula! ❤️

    Miss Paula, my recipe calls for you to microwave the apple slices for 2 minutes to soften the apples up a little bit. My recipe calls them Apple Dumplings, it's the same recipe as your apple cobbler....it is so good, but I rarely make them because they are loaded with calories.

    I love making this delicious and easy recipe! Although I do cringe having to add that much sugar and then adding Mountain Dew on top...it has so much sugar alone. I cut the amount of granulated sugar in half and use ginger ale instead. You don’t miss it! Still plenty sweet and makes me feel less guilty about eating it with vanilla ice cream. 😊

  • @michellesmith7060
    @michellesmith7060 Před 3 lety +2

    Wow that's ALOT of sugar but it looks like it tastes amazing !!! I wonder about the caffeine cooking off?? That's definitely something I never really thought of but it's a good question.. You put coffee in chocolate cake too so that is something you can look into. My question is how soft are the apples because I am a person who likes my apples softer than most???? I might cook the apples first or cut
