I don't know anything about Mr. Vandenberg. I've never heard of him before, and this is the first video I've ever seen of him. My initial thought was that his eyes say "He's not afraid to die"
And then he started talking about "the state of no mind", and after these 3:43 minutes, I'm inclined to think I'm either psychic, or he's leaning towards the real deal.
I'm very interested in learning how his fighting style can be "exceptional", and at the same time more open and arm-flailing than Al Harrington's Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubeman Emporium and Warehouse.

I have been following Mr. Vandenberg for a long time and this video is taken out of context and edited from a documentary “March with the Devil.” In the documentary, he was talking here about his Gorkhali Khukuri teacher who is a Christian not a Hindu and married to a Christian Karen woman in Burma. He was not talking about all Gorkhali who in general are Hindu and don’t eat or kill cows but worship them. He served in FFL best unit the 2rep with ex special ops and elite soldiers from all over the world and many Gorkhali too. Some of the Serbians who served with him are now part of the Pink Panther diamond heist gang. He is truly a unique individual and to me he is just being respectful here to his teacher in Burma and other Gorkhali he served with in the Legion. Respect for this warrior for me.

Paulie, and others looking at this video, be very careful if you try to imitate what you see here. He might be able to get away with flicking around two blades, but frequently violates a core principle of kukri combat in not respecting the safety zone. Example being in minute 2:22 where he is making a deep long diagonal cut down with his right. It is heading toward his left knee. Should clear this by stepping. In answer to Jeremy, yes, they are more typically used singly, not in pairs.

Draw that knife through the zone of your check hand. Not gonna happen cause the balance is not there. I practice with the Natchez Bowie and it will terrify you. As an edged weapon lifelong student, I can see these are probably the ultimate weapons to take into a knife fight. But you simply cannot carry these around in case of self defense...if you ever had to use them and then explain yourself subsequently in court, you are going to look like a complete psychopath. Its a shame because they have huge advantages as far as edged weapons go. Defending against a regular blade is already incredibly difficult, with the way these blades curve forward and the tip heavy balance and associated velocity of the mass.....most defense techniques are going to come up fairly short. Also, those Kukri blades are far more shatter resistant than the usual steel we are used to seeing in sub 1,000 dollar edged weapons....that is because they are hand forged using old leaf springs from amiercan cars...and you can imagine how strong that steel must be to begin with...and then after hand forging over and over...its damn near the closest thing you can get economically to an ancient Japanese sword.
