Taco Bell built a new restaurant on 50th Street recently close to Avenue Q where Josies used to be in a former Pizza Hut. They went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy early last year, so I assume that's why they closed some of these. Hell, just go a little further down Cooper and lo and behold, there's another abandoned one.
I don't eat at Taco Bueno that often anyway because it's some of the blandest Tex-Mex I have ever had. You may as well be eating a plank of wood TBH. Last couple of times I went was to one close to where I work and not only was the food terrible, but the service sucked too. Got my order wrong multiple times and the last time I went it took like 10-15 minutes just to get a damn coupon to work. After that I was like "Yeah, I think I've had enough Taco Bueno for a lifetime." Why go there anyway when Taco Bell and Taco Cabana is like 10 times better?

Taco Bueno use to only have fresh food not canned or processed it was all homemade. About 8 years ago they changed went more like Taco Bell which taste like cheap crap. Where i live Taco Casa is number 1 u get plenty of meat and bean and cheese plus it freshmade. There still a Taco Bueno here they just cheap on meat beans cheese and it tastes processed not homemade no more. We have alot of local Mexican food places northenos and sevies they got giant burritos way better than Bueno plus it fresh made. Taco Bueno made a run for years in Texas as has Taco bell i think both will go the way of Sears times change people food choices change only the strongest survive Taco Bueno of 1980s had something then lost it i doubt they find there way back but there hope little Caesar came back.
