I was in Hanoi in June. All the people were friendly to me. Had lots of interactions. Saying hello and smiling made a huge difference. I plan on going back next year. Once of my favorite cities and I travel a lot.

im in Hanoi and i think i recommend it just for a very quick trip, but the scooters scammers and also girls that try to get you to their club its too much for me.
And i think Vietnam has better to offer.

I was in Bangkok for two weeks, its not very clean either. Not as bad as the Philippines but not as clean as Malaysia.
Can you pay in some places with credit/debit card? I mean, restaurants or places to eat.
The Hanoians are like the Parisians , always on the rush and not very friendly . You should go to smaller cities like Danang , Hue , Dalat , Can Tho , Quy Nhon , Ninh Binh , Ha Giang , Hai Phong , etc... where people are much nicer . We always say that Hanoi is not Vietnam like the French say about their capital `Paris n'est pas la France`
