‘Adding Honey Supers’ in colder weather with spring build up!

Spring is here at long last! Beehives are busy, it's not quite T-shirt weather but slowly getting there. This video is showing what we are doing with our strong hives with the spring build up, adding supers to those that need it. With temperatures still low at night, and daytime highs at around 12C we are not pulling frames out just yet for inspections until the weather improves a little more, so stay tuned.
We have had an incredibly wet and windy March in England, so it's nice to finally see the bees out and gathering lots of pollen.

Question, will the bees fill your super with the winter feed and not nectar? I suppose it’s a balancing act 👍🏻

Hi Ross and thanks, the bees should bring the nectar flow into the super as it’s a new storing place. Whilst they consume the left over stores in the brood area from winter. Plus bees eat a lot in the spring build up. 🐝
