Random thought... The "dining room" becomes your office and the entry way (receiving area) becomes your dining room. You close the farther kitchen entry and move the fridge there, and you open up a door where the fridge is to lead towards the new dining room. It's a way bigger space with beautiful lighting 😊

    • @Amal_hope11

For the time being, while you make your dining room plans I think instead of centering the table in the middle of the long hall that is that room I would try shifting the table directly underneath the windows. Makes it a delightful spot for mornings sitting looking out at the pool letting the light shine on you, and gives the passageway more space. Also, I really like the idea of the mirror, even if it's not as large as you would like. Cover the breaker box with the mirror then add more paintings or hangings to balance it and by moving the table you have more walking room so you don't have to worry about knocking anything off that wall. LOVE hearing how to replace a sink, that kind of hands-on demonstration is my favorite kind of video.

But imagine a nice buffet/sideboard on the wall to the right of the door. It would make a great key drop. Then a halltree to the left of the door. I also feel like lighter colors work better in a kitchen, it makes food look better, and makes it feel more spacious. All your pieces are made for this house, they're a match made in heaven. The kitchen also lends itself more to bronze than brass! I am also impressed that your maximalist vibe is more pared back , that bench seat under the artwork in the walkway is 👌.

If you can (structurally) tear the wall between the kitchen and the dining room down and make one room out of it
Your kitchen could go across the „sink wall“ all the way to the „cutting board wall“ and you could have an island with the stove in it ❤ and than a really cool range hood over it 😍 and maybe a coffee bar on the wall where you put your art ? That would be so pretty 😍
Of course waaaay in the future ;) loved the video

For the dining room, maybe consider a long bench against the wall with a long narrow table?
Kitchen cabinets: those handles/hardware are giving a nice vibe, so now I’m thinking a light cabinet color would give a good contrast and at the same time, the light color would bounce light everywhere and make the room look bright and fresh.
Living room: with the fireplace there, this is where I would go moody all the way. Maybe even a little hint or a corner of a cigar/wine/chess room leather formal moment.

Love all you did, especially hanging the cutting boards. How about a banquet in the dining area. Building it yourself you could add some build in storage under the seating, then with a long bench that can be scooted under a table would help keep a walk way nearer the windows open. Also think staying lighter with the kitchen cabinets is a better choice than going dark, which may be too much for your narrow kitchen.

I really enjoyed this series. It was reminiscent of the videos of when I first found your channel. You make a good point about going bold when it's temporary, but the brick, tile, and hardware make the kitchen so busy and closed in that, IMHO, keeping the cabinets lights like the walls is easier on the eyes. Now, I want a new kitchen sink in our kitchen! Wow, it made the kitchen more cohesive 💕

I’m so excited to see your home evolve and progress over the years! I’m so curious as to what you will eventually decide to do in the big kitchen renovation, especially with the door to outside and two entrances. I’m wondering if having the far dining/kitchen walkway and the kitchen door to outside door closed up could work? That way you could get a lot more storage, perhaps find a prettier place for a fridge…. After looking at the dining room, I can see it being so beautiful to possibly change those 2 sets of windows and French doors to all French doors, so you could possibly have more of an Al fresco dining experience outside on nice days. Regardless of what you eventually decide, it will be so fun to see what you come up with- your renovations and designs are always stunning!

I would almost do the cabinets in 2 tone. I'm not sure what the colours look like in person but I'd do the uppers and the pantry/oven cabinet in a dark tone and do the uppers in that light colour. Keep the moody feeling but bring in a sense of airy-ness.

Have you considered a bench along the wall under the breaker box (maybe an old church pew?) that would work as seating for one side of a narrow, rectangle table? It drastically cuts down on space needed since you don’t pull chairs in and out plus would allow a nice place to sit with a gorgeous view to your amazing yard!

  • @Lucinda_Jackson
    @Lucinda_Jackson Před rokem +1

The new sink looks just beautiful!! Really gives such a finished look. Great save on the fit - good thing Romeo missed the power tools, though! 😱
I love all the other things you've done so far. It's shaping up, especially since you're pretty much staying with what you already have. And you've only been in the house a few weeks!!!
Love the rug in the kitchen, the pictures and bench, the pots...everything! For the cabinet color - since you asked us (even though by now it's probably already painted!) - my two faves are the Smoky Taupe and the Black Truffle. The Taupe has a green undertone that plays nicely with the counters and backsplash as well as the brick. And it really picks up green tones in the rug. And if you weren't intent on changing the hardware only to change it again when you do the reno, you could probably get away with keeping what's there with that color. It picks up the black lighting and the black in the rug so the black hardware isn't bad at all. The Truffle with that brown undertone (red/brown?) does the same things. If you are looking for a more dramatic look, the black is definitely the way to go. You'd probably need to switch out the hardware to a brushed nickel if you went with the Truffle unless you like the idea of having it just blend in. That's the tricky thing with black and choosing hardware - there's not a lot of room for subtlety unless you choose a deep bronze which I think you will feel clashes with your faucet. Hardware either really stands out or completely disappears on black.
My least favorites are Haven of Coziness and Strong Influence. With the counters and backsplash having such a golden hue, I think the pink undertones of Haven are a clash. Same for the purple undertones of Strong Influence. SI is a truly beautiful color and it does look nice with the brick, but the eye will mostly be catching the interplay of that backsplash and the cabinets, I think. But you, of course, can see it all in person and in different lighting while we just have a near guess at best.
I can't wait to see what you choose - I'm getting definite Strong Influence vibes! 😂

The chairs could go under the table on the opposite side and create a pathway between the wall and the table. Just a thought. You are so talented construction would be a breeze. I was thinking two tone kitchen cabinets; the dark on the bottom and lighter on the top. Also imagining the dining table close to the window (almost touching) and the chairs opposite each other to allow for the walk way and for up close and personal view of the pool area.

Since you are working with “temporary “ solutions, may I suggest painting all the walls the color of your last kitchen cabinet color. Dark colors inside will make the outside pop. So many different ideas for tables, desks would give you a thinner profile, pic/nic tables with built in benches, wallpaper tables and best of all with your building skills a reclaimed wood plantation table. Happy decorating!

Love the last dark/blackish color and why not, like you said! If it was my house, that wall that separates the kitchen and what they say is the dining room would go away, making that whole space available for kitchen dining with maybe the dining area running against the window wall, or make it all kitchen and figure out where in the 2 large living room/front rooms you could put a dining area. That's what I would do. Love that space and the house! Absolutely just so homey!
