Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Championship. Swansea City represents England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.
The club was founded in 1912 as Swansea Town and joined the Football League in 1921. The club changed their name in 1969, when it adopted the name Swansea City to reflect Swansea's new status as a city.
In 1981, the club were promoted to the original Football League First Division. It was during the following season they came close to winning the league title, but a decline then set near the season's end before finishing sixth, although a club record. It was from here the club suffered a relegation the season after, returning to the Football League Fourth Division a few seasons later, then narrowly avoided relegation to the Football Conference in 2003. Prior to playing home matches at the Liberty Stadium, the team had previously hosted at the Vetch Field. The Swansea City Supporters Society Ltd owns 20% of the club, with their involvement hailed by Supporters Direct as "the most high profile example of the involvement of a supporters' trust in the direct running of a club".
In 2011, Swansea were promoted to the English Premier League, becoming the first Welsh team to play in the top division since its formation in 1992. On 24 February 2013, Swansea beat Bradford City 5-0 to win the 2012-13 Football League Cup (the competition's highest ever winning margin for the final), winning the first major English trophy in the club's history and qualifying for the 2013-14 UEFA Europa League.

Other than Burnley we are the most impressive and play the best football in the league. Don't care what anyone says. Credit to Russ, the staff and players for that.

Yes we do. And then once we take the lead we mess around and let the other team back in the game.

Well done, the lads. Late season run of form is more than welcome, I just hope they can keep it up to the end of the season. Football is football and anything can happen, we all know that. Some tough games ahead and just have to take each one as it comes. NEVER expect 100% - or you are almost certainly going to be disappointed. It is what it is...!

What a difference Jamie Paterson makes when he drifts out to the left hand side. Talented player, if only we could see it more often.

Where are the bright sparks now who called for sacking RM? imagine if they had had their way? we'd be down where Wigan are. Thankfully we bucked the really stupid trend of sacking managers and destroying the great work being done on a long term basis. Wigan played the lottery....Sean Moloney seems a good guy but he has to implement new ideas to a deflated squad. nigh on impossible task with so few games. Hope they stay up, but looks impossible.

A season of if onlys, in what is a poor league really, bar Burnley and possibly Sheffield Utd. Our inconsistencies and individual errors have been costly. Cut them out, we can make a good fist of it next year, with maybe one or two additions too.

how is it a poor league? what do you measure that by? people say stuff like that but it is unquantifiable. it's actually like the PL, tthose with millions against those without. In the championship, it's the parachute payment teams or those with sugar daddy owners and the rest. the standard is pretty high and our second goal proves it.

Whatever the standard of the division is , the relentless treadmill of Saturday/Tuesday fixtures is very demanding. Our owners need to bulk up our squad next season with a bit of quality because the potential is there at Swansea City.
