  • Fluoroscopy can be used to guide a stellate ganglion nerve block. But as Dr. Michael Verdolin explains, ultrasound guidance can help avoid vascular structures that might otherwise not be seen under fluoroscopy. He discusses ultrasound probe placement, patient position, and how color flow Doppler is used to identify structures to be avoided.

Can this be done on the right side only? I have an AVM off of my external carotid on my left side. I’m seeking this to regain my sense of smell and taste back after 13 months without it after my COVID19 infection. TIA

    hello nice video.
so ganglion is not directly observed, but assumed to be at the surface of the transverse process?
    thanks

the ganglion actually lies ventral to the longus colli muscle. in the past they would contact the transverse process, but that is now considered an inferior approach
