Ren was definitely losing his mind during many of his older songs. But that was do to brain neuropathy from lymes disease and the psychosis. 😢
Tough stuff, Kelly.
drugs too 😞
It’s a Gorrilaz/Jeff Buckley mash up. I love how much he loves and references his music and vocal style. I wish he would do a Buckley retake!
That would be cool!
Yes indeed. I listened to Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah a couple of days ago. That would be a great one to hear from Ren.
The people responsible for the video are Creative Deploy. There's a link to them in the original video. I know they did a few of Ren's earlier videos.
Also did Suicide, along with an AI team.
Another great one Izzy. King Author was searching for the Holy Grail and they ended up at the dark woods. As you said, he thought it wouldn't be right for them to enter as one unit. Each Knight entered where he felt the woods were the darkest. The meaning is that in order to make changes in the world we must first face our personal darkness. Jordan Peterson speaks to this quite often. Another analogy is the Knight and the dragon. To reach the treasure we must face what scares us the most.
Thanks mate! Looking for the Holy Grail! That was it. Should have remembered. It's a great story/metaphor for how to approach life. I've watched and read a lot of JP's work on ancient stories and the biblical text. It's very interesting stuff.
Thank you 🙏❤ Izzy ❤ for your 🐷 Ren - Heretic reaction! #ren #demosvoltwo #heretic
“What’s the price of creativity? Is it losing your mind?” 😭😭😭
Always a pleasure, thanks Izzy!
Thank you!
I enjoy listening to you philosophizing.
I looked this up because you asked:
A heretic is someone whose beliefs or actions are considered wrong by most people, because they disagree with beliefs that are generally accepted.
Thanks Leigh!
This song is in my top three Ren tracks. I just love the mix of singing and rap and I think you are correct: the seeds of Hi Ren are definitely here. I also love how Ren recognizes that he is a force of nature because he most certainly is. You might want to check out Humble for a similar yet completely different vibe. Thanks Izzy!
Thanks, my friend! I'll check that out soon!
So much depth with clever lyricism and attention to details in the production. Layers!
I love watching your creative mind latch on to something to disect it and develop understanding. Ren's songs are a catalyst.
I hope we are treated to some of your poetic writing soon; perhaps even a new song.....
Thanks Holly! Planning on putting some things out in June.
One of my favorites.
❤😉Oh, I love this song and video. The “I make mole hills out of mountains” lyric; would that not mean he reduces the size of a huge problem. I do that a lot. You get so used to having health problems that you develop the skill of almost laughing it off when a new one develops. However, there are days when the pain is so bad I get upset over a paper cut. Thus, I make a mountain out of a mole hill. Fantastic reaction Izzy. It really fun when you analyze Ren’s lyrics. Thanks. ✌️
Thanks Abby! I realised in the edit, I completely heard that line the wrong way around, repeated it correctly and the talked about the opposite. It's a great line anyway. both ways around.
Can always count on you for thoughtful comments. Thanks Izzy!
Thanks, Bonnie!
Always a fab reaction. As a person who makes his living as a creative (in my case images) I realised long ago I saw the world differently from everyone else. That the world I perceived was not obvious to others around me and that took some getting used to. I am sure other creatives have the same outside viewpoint of the world they may share similarities with others but is in reality a lonely place even after we share our creations. There is always a need for the next creation. Genius and madness share a certain proximity to each other.
Agreed mate. It's a very fine line sometimes! Thanks and glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for setting me on this journey too. Appreciate it.
@@IzzyIzenstain I think I was your first subscriber so I'm invested :)
Here's a band I've been enjoying some of their stuff lately. Maybe not a band to react to as they have few followers but they have something so you may just enjoy watching.. Kind of a late 60's early 70's Funk Rock. Some of their stuff reminds me of the band Cactus (highly underrated early rock bandit you don't know them.

This song is criminally underrated. One of my faves for sure. Really enjoyed your thoughts on this one 💜💜
Thanks Kat!
I love when you share thoughts, stories and anecdotes. Looking forward to hearing new releases from you :)
Thanks! Gonna start to put some things out in June.
Mycavorite Ren track
I will always love this track
Lovely orange Phalaenopsis Helen. That is a hard colour to get.👀🦇
Thanks again for a great reaction. Every time I listen to Ren it blows my mind how good he is. And also how undiscovered he still is! I saw you video come up while I was at work. Had to start watching it on my lunch break. 😀 Still plenty of epic songs to come 😁 Simon
Thanks Simon! Glad to have you here! Hope you still managed to get some food in ya!
So pleased to have come across your reactions. You are so knowledgeable and thoughtful. Look forward to hearing more from you, and listening to your music. Keep doing what you are doing. You are very insightful. Thanks. 😊👍
Hi Vicky! Glad to have you here! Thanks for the kind words. Love to ya!
Soul breathing probably more poetic than vomiting up 😂😂😂
I've been listening to your music. Would enjoy you vomiting up some more . I'll be watching.
Ren inspires my creativity as well and my philosophical mind.
Ah, I see that profile picture and no hat! Exposing ourselves are we Izzy? I like it.
I knew I'd see you here Fran!! that bit made me smile Izzy has such a way with words but they just seemed to escape him at that moment
Haha! It is better! And they did escape me! :D
Thanks Guys! More music coming from me in June.
Interesting musings as always! I feel that this level of thoughtful analysis is the kind of reaction that Ren's music deserves. The tangents of your own thoughts give the feeling of sitting, chilling out and having one of those deep chats with a friend that cover all kind of topics :)
Thanks! It feels like that to me too. Like I'm talking to friends.
👍👍👍❤❤❤
Hey Izzy, hope you're well man. Totally agree, the messiah is within. Some will free themselves, some will never. Not this time around anyway.
Agreed mate! There's a line I love in I See Houses by The Verve; "I get this feeling that I.. I've been here before. How many lives will I waste, how many tears must I taste before my freedom"
@@IzzyIzenstain Wow! Thanks for sharing. Not heard that before but what a poignant line. Hits a bit close tbh
@@achebwahs1111 I'm thinking of doing a "podcast" discussing some of my favourite lyrics. This is one of the songs I'm considering. There's another couple of good ones on that album too.
@@IzzyIzenstain I like it. Very Original and there's a plethora of incredible lyrics out there.
Sudden fury of a divine messenger
Let me tell you about heartache and the loss of God
Wandering, wandering in hopeless night
Out here in the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned
Immaculate.

@@IzzyIzenstain … same as it ever was
You really drop some good advice here through life lessons learned through trials and tribulations! Just bring the vacuum into the room!
Thanks Joe! Really glad people seem to enjoy me doing stuff like that.
I enjoyed your take on this awesome song. When you said even if you manage to get out of bed it’s success, I thought that’s me. Thanks Izzy
Thanks, Sandra!
Great reaction video Izzy..... Thank you for sharing how making these videos inspires you and helps you in your own life, I have noticed that a lot of reactors to Ren's music and videos say the same thing. Most of Ren's songs have segments that connect more than others, in this song the bit that hits most for me is the - Beautifully sung, All Alone All Alone etc near the end of the song. It's not like i'm alone or anything, but i do suffer with chronic pain and have done for over 10 years. I think that leaves you with mental scars that can be triggered by certain things?..... Looking forward to your new music, have you considered a lyric video for your studio music? Thanks again Izzy
Thanks Barzo! I think a lyric video is the way I will go. Currently researching how to do them and to make them a bit more interesting.
Great song, great reaction ❤ I appreciate your humility. I love how the song changes when he starts to be really personal and vulnerable... Yes, we all have these big questions, but our own life situation is what really concerns us deeply. I love Ren's music probably mostly because of his honesty. I feel honesty, sincerity is the key to everything... to finding ourselves and ultimately to knowing/experiencing God.
Thanks! Totally agree with you there.
❤❤
Pauses as they say are powerful. Hopeful your new songs are coming from that soul space Izzy
Thanks for sharing
They sure are! Thanks!
Love this one of my favourites ❤
This is one of my favorite ren songs 🥹💜💜
The quote about the cave and the soldiers in the forest is from a book by Joseph Cambell, if I remember correctly.
I think I have heard him talk about that actually, or someone reference his telling at least.
❤️🔥🌻
Enjoyed your take on this! ❤
Thanks
So glad to see you react to this. My latest suggestion to you. There is so many songs I could suggest to you but I have been waiting till I hear something in a song that makes me think of you for whatever reason. There are so many different sides to Ren that no matter what kind of music is your thing. Ren can and has possibly performed a song in that style which is why he seems to have a such a diverse audience. Anyway loved how you took this one apart and how you notice background pieces and different instruments. Not many pick up on all aspects
Thanks and thanks for the suggestions! Looking forward to some more! Glad you enjoyed it.
I went straight to Monty Python’s Holy Grail. With the cave and the rabbit.🤣👍💕🦇
Great Movie!
Interesting comments on creativity. Your reactions are always thought provoking. Now I'm inspired to read the King Arthur stories again.
Thanks Sharon!
Hey buddy, it says in the beginning of a couple of the videos, including games and screech tale. His name is Samuel Perry. I’m sure his name is in the description.. but he does the majority of his videos and friends for a long time. He definitely does other artist as well. Cheers
Thanks Joe!
Hi Izzy, thanks for reacting to one of my favourite Ren songs. I heard that a lady friend who was seen chatting with Ren in his live "Murderer" video does his artwork. Perhaps she does these visualizers as well. Heretic is one of my self-identifying words. Its origin is in ancient Greek and it means "one who chooses" as opposed to the orthodox view which just accepts what they are told. Anyone who refuses to accept the official version of truth may be a heretic but the most famous or infamous were the Gnostics in the early Christian era and the Cathars in the middle ages.
The story of the knights seeking out a path through the woods was explained to me by Joseph Campbell. He said that the Holy Grail myth is very relevant to our lives and we all must cut our own path through the forest rather than follow the beaten path. This path we create for ourselves is path of the heretic. That is all I can recall about it.
She came on later, I think the illustrator for this, ready for you, diazepam etc is the same artist that did the AI vid for suicide
@@LeeannG There are so many mysteries still surrounding Ren. You may well be right, Leann.
Louis Mardlin (Creative Deploy) is the creator of a lot of Ren’s visualizers including this one.
That woman is Brigita. She did a lot of the work on Precious, and does art design for Ren, including album covers, clothing and other merch.
Cool stuff, Patrick! Thanks for sharing all that. Enjoyed reading it. "The one who chooses" I love that.
That was it, they were searching for the Holy Grail. Should have remembered that. It's a great metaphor for how we should navigate life.
Great reaction to a great song! Thank you ❤️
I also highly recommend Ready for You!!
Thanks Lana! I've added it to the list.
It is a long while ago now that I was trying to find something that could explain why I did not think like other people. The best things I found were a book called The Colours of Your Mind by Jerry Rhodes & Sue Thame And the Myers Briggs Character Types - Good Hunting
Thanks, David! Appreciate the recommendations! I'll look into them.
Love this track - one of my favourites
Another banger for sure, great take again.
Thanks!
Nothing is “for the sake of it” in Ren’s more serious songs. This is a favourite of mine and your reaction helps me to understand why. So thanks for your ruminations. Enjoyed it. ❤
Ruminations with Izzy - Perfect!
Thanks!
Another work of genius from Ren ❤
I love you insight. ❤
Thanks!
13:25 looks like your arm and it’s creeping me out 😂😂😂
Haha!
Hey Izzy, RENegade here. If you look in the description of Ren's Lyric video for Masochist Ren lists the website he used to make the latest lyric vides. Ren also promoted them on a live stream. Tried to post the name here for you but the you tube gods were viewing it as spam . Someone else answered who did Heretic in the comments. Hope that helps !
Lyric videos and his illustrated visualizers are two different entities though
Thanks mate! I'll look into that!
❤
Creatives are not afraid to swing the pendulum further towards it's extremes, to find out what I don't know. I, on the other hand, feel a need to pull it straight, mostly in fear of a lack of control and safety. Extremes are dangerous and I, as the youngest child an a moma's boy, have been taught to not rock the boat so to speak. hmmm It's a programming I am constantly battling, because I have such difficulty in expressing myself and thoughts to others, and to put myself out there where there is a chance of being hurt. I don't fear pain, or being derided. I guess I fear failure. Failure hurts the most. If I cannot live up to my own impossibly high standards, then what is the point in showing more of me to the world?
The point I would guess, is to learn and to grow, and from my experience failure is how that happens. No-one succeeds without first failing many times. To quote Rocky Balboa; "It ain't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." Also, I get it, and realising it is fear of failure is a step in the right direction. But; "The cave we fear to enter, holds the treasure we seek". I guess you gotta ask yourself which is worse, the pain of failure or the pain of regret. Be brave, my friend. Doing nothing, isn't really living at all.
Can't remember if I suggested this one for you or not, but it's in top 5 Ren songs for me, and once again your breakdown and observations are just great
Thanks Malcolm!
Someone whose beliefs/actions are considered wrong by most people
Thanks Margaret!
as I understand it, a heretic is a person abandoned by god.
Interesting! Thanks!
You are not John Peel's son are you.
Haha! I am not.
