  • This Cadillac was a barn find, and after some hard work she is better than new. Just got back from her first big trip in over twenty years. What an amazing machine. Love these Old Cadillacs.... Thanks for watching!

      @@japanjack62 My aunt had a 1977 yellow on yellow on yellow SDV. I went with her when she bought it brand new. I was 10 years old and I’ll never forget that experience! I drive a 30 year old Cadillac today, and I love it better than any new car!

    Our neighbor drove SDVs and in 80 a Seville Diesel, then a new FB every year until the early 200o's when he retired. His last one was an 06 ?SDV. They were all beautiful colors, usually the De Elegance package. he put like 80,000 miles a year as a sales rep. He told me the ride in a Cadillac was beyond compare...

    My parents owned Cadillacs. They started with a 1970 Sedan de Ville. It was comfortable and powerful, and having learned to drive in it I am now able to parallel park a bus in a spot smaller than the bus. Next came the 1975 Fleetwood. It was gigantic and a bit underpowered but it was like driving on a cloud in a Lazy-Boy recliner. Then came the 1978 Fleetwood. Although they had been significantly downsized, these smaller Cadillacs handled and rode like a dream with serious power and a flawless transmission. The braking and cornering were unexpectedly responsive and smooth. My parents went on to own three more Cadillac sedans. 89, 93 and 97. Having driven all those different Cadillacs, and some more recent ones, I have to say that the 1978 was by far the best one all around. Somehow, someway those late 70's downsized Cadillac de Villes and Fleetwoods were the perfect luxury car. To this day I have yet to drive an American luxury car which drove and handled and felt like that 1978 Cadillac. Any Cadillac owner will tell you...to truely understand a Cadillac, you can't just ride in one...you have to drive it. All that money you pay for one goes straight to the steering wheel.

    A friend of mine bought an 80 sedan DeVille (the newer body style) about 16 years ago had the 368 (not the 8-6-4 one that dropped cylinders to "save gas") was at a car lot had been t boned on the driver's door. She was beautiful except for that, it was what I believe is called princess green with tan velour. It only had 50k on the clock and you could tell it was right. She drove amazing nice and tight still smelled new. He paid around $400 because they couldn't sell it with the damage nobody wanted her. It was a bald top too which was nice. One of the best older cads I've seen despite the damage. It used no oil or any other fluid I ended up with it then sold it to another friend who traded it for a pristine 83 Seville elegante that needed a water pump. Have not seen the "princess" since. Damn shame. Great video though! My somewhat bad weather daily is an 89 triple blue brougham, while I love the car the 77-80 big blocks are the best.

    FYI you could get the de elegance pkg on a sedan deville or a coupe. Giving the owner a Fleetwood without the hefty price. Had an 83 that came with that feature. You are on point about the 425 it was a great engine.

    Had a 83 this interior in leather. 4.1 engine was sucky though. The one way to know any Cadillac is a 79’ year model is the wood grain, it is swirled

    Nice I Have A 78 Deville Also You Ever Have Trouble With Headlights Not Working Checked All Fuses In Fuse Box The Manual Says There Is A Built-in In Breaker In Switch Itself

    • @Cadillacguy100
      @Cadillacguy100  Před 7 lety

      Good you have a Manual- this is your Bible. Have you have traced all the wires back and checked for power? If you have power going to lamps, it could be the bulbs. If all is well, check the breaker you mentioned. Have not had this happen to my car. Good Luck and thanks for watching.
