I saw Shamrock in storage at a Hudson River pier about 1986. It was just prior to her restoration and she looked pretty sad, but you could see the beauty in her lines. I'm so grateful to the people who loved these boats enough to restore them.
Wonderful shots of the boat . But it does not give any idea how tall the mast is , it is huge ! I'm told it needs 7 tons of lead in the keel to keep it upright too !
This is for Henry Taysom, My Great Uncle crewed Shamrock 111, and looked after it down Durgan on the Helford River, Cornwall, Edward Downing was my Great Uncle, he was my Grandmothers Brother, also I have a photo of Uncle Edward. I have even got a photo in a locket that was left to me by my Grandmother Rhoda Downing, hope you can contact me. I am on Facebook Jacqueline Richards . You have got a lot of relations on our family tree. As my Grandmother and her brothers and sisters were all born in Durgan, by the Helford River. Jackie
My late Grandfather Edward Downing served on SHAMRROCK 111 and I would so much appreciate as to how I might find out about the crews at this time . Can anyone help ?
+Henry Taysom Sorry cant help. You can see that they still need a lot of crew as they do not allow all available modern appliances to be used. Their appearances in B ritain are quite well publicised , If you have a chance you could go and see them. and talk to the crew.
Yes I can, Henry . You have got a lot of relations on the family tree. As my Grandmother had brothers and sisters, all born in Durgan, by the Halford River. . Edward married Mary Grace Sullivan, she was born in 1874-1939. I have been trying to get hold of you on Facebook for some time. Please hope to hear from you, with all this news? regards Jackie (Richards) Mrs.

Wow, breathtaking views of a stunning yacht.
I think Sir Thomas Lipton would be pleased these boats are sailing and racing again.
this is great sailing in the best wind/waves to be found anywhere - i've experienced it, with these J yachts thundering by.... :-)
Look at how thick the boom is on that boat!
OK guys, we're going to have another "man overboard" drill.

The only thing out of contest and ridiculous is the crew sitting outboard on the windward side.......
