    When I was 14 (1991) and learning to play guitar, I had a an audio CD of this video that served as the only musical instruction I had for nearly two years. I listened to that CD every night when I went to bed and throughout the day for months on end. Even for
    guitar, this whole thing was superb and I will be forever grateful to Jaco for the part he played in my musical education.

      Charles Cote yeah bro, I have never understood the fascination you tube bass players have with slapping. I think it gets old real quick. Jaco was so much more melodic. Like singing on the bass, and that’s much more appealing, at least to my ears.

      @@richsackett3423 Actually, he did. Fender started making fretless electric basses almost entirely because of Jaco. Bassists like Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten play in a melodic style with rich harmonics inspired by Jaco. And in an interview with Marcus Miller, Miller recounts how he was showing off his slap technique to Jaco who sad "Yeah, I can play like that. I just don't."
      I mean, you can say whatever you want about the man, but there is absolutely no denying the influence he had on the world of bass playing, both as a player and as an innovator. It's just the way it is.

      @richsackett3423 Před 4 lety +1

      @@diego2112gaming "Fender started making fretless electric basses almost entirely because of Jaco." That simply isn't true. Why do you think that's factual? Were you playing bass in the '70s? I was. Some people knew Jaco and his playing but he was a curiosity, an oddball. I met literally no bassists in the day who thought he was the GOAT. He didn't have legions of fanboys proclaiming him God of the Bass Guitar as in the internet age.
      I like how some young guy makes the pronouncement, "It's just the way it is." Sorry, Sonny; it isn't. I have no difficulty denying something that doesn't exist. He simply wasn't very influential in his time. It didn't happen like that.
      Name three bassists from the 70s or early 80s plainly and primarily influenced by Jaco.
