    I carry a revolver. Revolvers are not only the only type of handgun that I shoot, but 90% of my range time is spent shooting revolvers. And before anyone declares me a boomer or fudd or whatever, I am 34. I just really like revolvers.

    I was gifted a Taurus 605 revolver, chambered for 38 sp/357 mag. He gave it to me recently, after I expressed an interest in getting into firearms. It was also after I bought my Sig P322, as first firearm. Although I probably would not go out and buy a revolver, it is fun to shoot. Shooting a 22 and then switching to the 38 or 357 round/revolver is pretty surprising and fun.

    I like the optic option but I wouldn’t carry it with an optic on it. Optics on a revolver is very different from optics on a semiautomatic, and it is very difficult to go back to gutter sights.
    I carry revolvers and if you put the time in, they are very accurate in my experience. They certainly aren’t as easy to run well out of the gate, but I really like the options that you have.

    I just bought a 692 with the .357 and 9mm cylinders and a 3" ported barrel. It really rocks so far. I've only run a couple hundred rounds through it so far, but it'll get a lot more. It's a great budget hunting revolver for mid range. The one thing that I was torn was on going with the 605 you are reviewing. I do like red dots, but I prefer adjustable sights. Less bulky and you don't have to worry about the thing going dead. I really like the lesser muzzle flip when having the ports, and having a compact barrel, porting and the ability to plink and practice with 9mm rocks. I currenly have been using my .45 Colt Charter Arms Bulldog as my carry revolver. I think the revolver shines when you need to deal with bear or you want to hunt and carry, which is my primary use for carry.

    Do Revovlers Suck? Taurus 856 Toro First Looks
    1. Mulit-chamber pistol, so no single chamber to worry about a round in the chamber and not finicky about ammo it shoots. No failures to feed or eject, no stovepipes, and so on.
    2. Fixed barrels are more accurate than moving ones even on autoloading pistols. No slide going out of battery when when muzzle is pressed against a threat.
    3. Incredibly reliable and rarely ever jams.
    4. More power. Better accommodates high energy magnum rounds.
    5. Multi-caliber. Shoots more than one caliber.
    6. Safer with less negligent discharges due to double action first shot and has either transfer bars or hammer blocks.
    7. Ease of operation with no slide to cock the hammer or chamber a round. Can be fired from a pocket.
    8. Comfort of concealed carry.
    9. Legality of only six shots forces the shooter to be more accurate who is responsible for every round that leaves the pistol with a lawyer attached to every bullet.
    10. Brass cases are self contained to save for reloading.
    If six shots with two reloads totaling 18 rounds is not enough to stop multiple threats then the problem is not capacity. Let's not forget about autoloader shortcomings and there are many. Yes I have autoloaders but also revolvers and they do have their place. I shoot autoloaders well but I shoot revolvers better.

    I enjoyed your video. Can you provide the web address for Harry’s holster. I’m personally more into semi automatics hand guns. I first bought my wife a M&P Smith & Wesson 22 LR. Great gun,
    I absolutely don’t have no complaints about it except even after taking the wife to the range and training her to shoot. She was afraid to load it and chamber the round. What’s the use of having a gun if she is afraid to leave it loaded.
    I realized with her advanced age and that she needed a small revolver for small hands. I took her to the gun shop and after holding several different types of guns. She picked out the Taurus 856 toro with a 3 inch barrel.
    I’m not a fan of the potted type silver metal but it is what it is. I told this is a 38 special and will kick way more than a 22LR. But I told it has better stoping power.
    I wanted something old school and easy for her to use. I don’t have nightmares anymore of her having a loaded semi automatic and no longer worry about her doing an accidental discharge
    What is nice about this old style Taurus is that we can load the 6 bullets and leave it on the night stand.
    I told my wife most home invasions or I should say home defense emergencies happen real fast.
    You’re not going to have time loading it and messing with safety buttons in a panic situation. She can leave it on the table loaded. Point and shoot which makes it simple.
    My wife was not a big fan of down grading to. 6 shooter. I explained to her if she has to use 6 shots, most burglars would run after the first shot is fired.
    This simple Taurus revolver that comes with a limited warranty will no doubt will last a very long time, but I think with little maintenance to it. I would buy quality gun oil, spray, inside the chamber. The trigger is a little stiff for my wife. I might take it to the gunsmith to see if they could make it easier for her to pull the trigger less pressure.
    I told my wife just cock the hammer back and shoot. Anyone in their right mind would run away.
    I will definitely add a red dot scope to increase the value. This is the kind of gun that will last 100 years easily if you keep it well oiled and in a maintained condition.

    The "revolvers are easy" arguments are so ignorant...semi autos are not complicated. If you can't rack the slide on a semi auto, you won't have the strength to pull a revolver heavy trigger.

    • @rbm6184
      @rbm6184 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @xxxlonewolf49 Sounds like you have never pulled a revolver trigger before. All of my sisters have revolvers. They hate autoloader slides and jams and they like their revolver triggers. Don't have to worry about a round in the chamber either with six or more chambers. Revolver reliability and simplicity can't be matched by autoloaders.

    • @xxxlonewolf49
      @xxxlonewolf49 Před 6 měsíci

      @rbm6184 W/e fudd. When teaching my 70 year old mother to shoot, yes double action (as all semi modern revolvers are) the trigger is heavy. The same as racking most semi auto slides by hand...but, you can push the slide on something to rack it. So take your fuid ignorance back to you straight line family tree. You cleanly had ignorant sisters bases on lies & fear you fed them.

    • @FitnFire
      @FitnFire  Před 6 měsíci

      I see your point but most revolvers have a single action function. So, cocking the hammer (which in 95% of the examples I have messed with was easier than racking a slide strength wise) provides the user to have a very light crisp trigger pull that does a few things.
      1. Increases accuracy
      2. Admittedly, slower than a semi-auto but also allows for the brain to work.
      3. Creates a consistent, reliable chambering of a round.
      While revolvers are NOT 100% reliable, they are consistently more reliable than a semi-auto. In addition, limp wristing is a thing for young, inexperienced, or weak handed people that can contribute to additional failures. Revolvers are mostly immune from those issues.

    • @xxxlonewolf49
      @xxxlonewolf49 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@FitnFire A lot do, yes. But go look at the ones aimed are defensive use, almost ALL double action trigger only, for "safety". Instead of more training to KEEP FINGER OF THE DAMN TRIGGER. (a constant problem when I take my mother out shooting...she does the same crap with her dyson vacuum too, finger always on the trigger...a constant battle)
      I will take a modern semi-auto any day over the literally FUDD MYTH of Revolver reliability.
      If you need the gun, to slow you down for "brain to work" you need to train better/more and not let tech slow you down when you need speed.
      A modern semi-auto can have just as light and crisp as a trigger as Revolver...like all things, IF YOU PAY.
      Limp writing is a thing yes, so don't do it. TRAIN with the piece you carry.
      That 'you can do a stupid thing' with X item does not mean you should not USE X item.
      Yes you CAN take your toaster into the bathtub...but I prefer to keep & use mine in the kitchen.

      @FitnFire  Před 6 měsíci

      @@xxxlonewolf49there are tons of options for defensive revolvers to have single action. I own 3 defensive revolvers and all 3 have single action. The Taurus 856 in this video is a great example. I also have a S&W 638 with a shrouded hammer but it still gives you the option to cock it. It’s like saying you shouldn’t by a P365 and pocket carry because it’d go off in your pocket and ignoring the fact there are P365’s with a manual thumb safety. Again, the revolver is merely a tool designed for specific sets. If you would listen to episode 3 of my podcast, you’d hear very well articulated reasons why revolvers are useful. If they’re not right for you, fine. But, eluding that no one else should use them is pretty elitist.

      I can see you’ve never pressed your pistol against anything and tried to pull the trigger. Some of us have been in actual fights and know that grappling on the ground is a real possibility. Using a semi-auto pressed against can disengage the barrel lock-up and render the pistol inoperable. Revolvers do not have those issues. The revolver is a tool much like a tack driver works better installing baseboards than a 2lbs ball peen hammer.
