EXCHANGE STUDENT AT UNIVERSITAS GADJAH MADA - INDONESIA

- The story of my 'year' abroad in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Before I left for Indonesia, I really struggled to find information about what the city or university is like for international students so I hope this video is helpful to those considering or going on their student exchange to Indonesia.
I wish I could have made this video to the quality I would have liked; I initially was going to make this video IN Indonesia but we had to leave rather abruptly due to a particular vrus sweeping the world...

UGM is literally one of the best uni in Indonesia and has a long-standing history. Social science subjects are home to several Indonesian country leaders and well-known figures in their fields. Glad that you enjoy your time there...
And I very much appreciate your mindset before coming to a new place, to expect and embrace the differences.
Yeah, UGM students are one the most humble person you can ever met!
@@irsyadrouyani4073 Well many said they're way too humble. Wondering if that is still the case now.
As an Indonesian who graduated from the Uni of Southampton, UK, I can relate with the difference you’re talking about in this video. 😊😄
Wahh, hi kak dira😀💙
Wahh kak diraa
As a local student who graduated from local campuss, I can relate none actually...
@Garamatana epic#same here
As a non-graduate, I can’t relate even the least of it...

Eviwhere aw thank you!! 💕
You're so lucky because yogyakarta is one of the best cities in indonesia. it's my hometown (i work overseas btw), so when i return it feels like a grand vacation. yogyakarta have everything you need, everything you want, and it's a chill and safe place for tourists (i always labelled myself as tourist everywhere i go btw :D)

Glad you enjoy your time in Indonesia :D, now now, after watching this, i miss attending an offline class even more :(. Take care, chloe. Thank you for making this video!!
wah!! as a student at Universitas Gadjah Mada, i really appreciate your video! i'm so glad to know that you enjoy your time at Indonesia :))
And actually maybe she miss a bit about "expensive campus" because UGM is one of most affordable campus in Indonesia as it is public University and placed in Yogyakarta.
Most public univ in Indonesia (especially old campus) got very large land to expand from the beginning.
I raised in Jakarta, while study there for 4 years i can save much money and even start my own business. Miss Jogja so muchh
@@sel__sel Maybe her Indonesian friends told her it's expensive from their own perspectives.
@Shanaya Sharma Perhaps you can contact Office of International Affair of UGM.
Anyway India has many good universities. May I know your motivation to study in UGM?

Wahh cantiknya mbaknya.... sayangnya kemarin belum sempat bertemu, jadi belum sempat kenalan deh. Terima kasih mbaknya sudah memilih UGM sebagai tempat untuk pertukaran pelajar. Semoga ketagihan untuk main ke jogja lagi ya mbak? Hehehe...
the important thing is you ... have a wonderful experience about Indonesia and make you feel homesick for Indonesia ... that's the peak of all knowledge. Because there is a saying in Indonesia ... The more you learn the more you forget ... A little learning a little you forget, no learning no one forgets ... Because the Indonesian people believe that life is not eternal ... one day we can die whenever ... so learn to stop thinking about this world ... and enjoy your life ...
Thanks a lot. Greetings from Bogotá. Now thinking about an exchange semester at Malang.
im here before 1k subscriber..
Good on you for sharing. You should travel back when things are better. I'm based in West Borneo and will be more than happy to be a local guide. You can transit here since you mention orangutan, and check out the local culinary scenes. The food here is different from what you've probably tried in Yogyakarta and Java, since we have a mix of Chinese and Malay cuisines, not to mention the snacks.
Kangen bgtt ngampus di FEB,smoga bisa kuliah offline lagi
Hey mam i want to take migration to Indonesia.i am second year medical student in Russia

Hello beautifull..after watching this video..I miss yogyakarta 😊😊
This video pops up on my recommendation and I suddenly miss the uni days :(
My faculty is FEB (Faculty of Economy and Business)'s neighbor.
As for living cost, Jogja is quite cheap compared to some cities in Indonesia. Dishes in Indonesia have stronger and richer flavors (some are very spicy for foreigners) as we use spices, so foreigners who aren't used to eat dishes with strong flavors might have to get ones with milder flavor. However, the food is rather unhealthy in dormitories area. Luckily, some faculty canteens (like Kantin Sastra in Faculty of Cultural Sciences) offer healthy food like salad or brown rice and veggies. I only had a chance to visit a few canteens, so I can't give more information about this.
I'm glad that you made a review video about your experience! Thank you for sharing
For me I love sweet dishes like Gudeg for example.
anaku sdh presentasi dan interview dgn manchester university. ya Robb berihal rahmat & karunia Mu sehingga anaku berhasil mendapatkan beasiswa dari univ ini. aamiin. minggu ini infonya jawaban dari mereka.
I love your accent!!!
Thank You please come again
Selamat datang di indonesia. Semoga harimu menyenangkan
You were using Lion Air???
Indonesian here🙋🏻♀️ Please use Citilink for domestic flight.
Indonesians love rice. If you want to maintain a healthier diet, simply skip the rice. Just eat the protein & vegetable. Tempe & tahu (beancurd) are a good plant-based protein that can help you feel full. Of course it means you will have to eat your protein & vegetable in larger amount because you skip rice (carbo). But some dishes are made from potato which is also carbo. So you just have to get creative, because if you follow us Indonesians & eating rice all the time, you’ll definitely gain weight 😄😅
To most Indonesian people: you haven’t had proper meal unless you have eaten rice😅😅
Amazing gajah mada 👍👍👍😍🙏fulll
