Your allowing us into both your high country and even your special cabin with your Mom's bear is so appreciated. As a young Texas college student, I worked summers on the railroad for the old Great Northern and Northern Pacific mostly around Wyoming and Western Montana. I would start in Billings and go to Bozeman, Missoula and etc. when I view your hunts it brings me back to that special Big Sky High Country! We saw tons of all types of wildlife and breathtaking scenery from the rail, as most could never see otherwise. If I ever hit the lotto, I'll be a neighbor somewhere in the High County! I love your style and channel. Blessings in your journey. JohnMark
Howdy Jason. Sometimes hunting by yourself has it's own personal and self-reflective benefits. The video you did by yourself turned out excellent! That bear had such a beautiful coat and I'm sure you saved it in some fashion. Thank you Jason! Later on Sir....
Absolutely love everything this gentleman puts out. Great respect, insights and cinematography abound. Makes me long to get back "In To High Country"....
Excellent. Love your videos. You really show the flavor of the hunt and you stress the hunt part. Not the shooting or techy gizmos that so many videos seem to focus on now. Thank you!
Nice Bear Jason, Have noticed that there has been more hunting pressure each year with every species in Montana. I'm glad to see we are getting more hunters. God's Blessings on all your adventures
Howdy Jason. Once again you have made and produced an excellent video! I've never had the chance to hunt bears, but would love to some time. This video makes me wonder what this years's hunt will be like for you. Also, I love your adaptation of El Wencho into your films! Thanks again for your work! Later on Sir.....
The Struggle is Real, but the Reward is so Sweet. Congratulations on such a beautiful color phase Montana black bear 🐻. Always enjoy your stories. Hopefully someday I will be able to get out west and do a spring bear 🐻 hunt. Probably in your home state or Idaho. Not sure yet.
I wasn't able to make it out this spring due to work. Spring bear hunting in MT has become something I look forward to, your passion for bear hunting that one can feel while watching your video's is inspirational. Thank you for sharing. I'd love to share my spot in NW MT with you next spring if your available?
Hang nice shot ! Holly cow you hit your rifle on that stump smh. I did that as a teen and my dad about come unglued! I actually scratched and dented the wood stock. He fixed it and re-stained it but I can still see what I’d done. He ended up giving me that gun. He remembered me doing that the first year I sat alone.
Love this video and you’re narrating I’m new to bear hunting and you broke the myth that bears don’t move in the rain for me which is what I’ve always heard.
Also very curious how you approached this bear once you spotted him did you come from the top or from the bottom and I’m guessing you factored in the wind into this?
@@jasonmatzingerofficial I hunt the Appalachian mountains so it goes from loose black topsoil to rocks in a few feet. And steep as hell. Would u still recommend them?

I always approach with the wind in my face.
Bears love the rain and cooler temps
Awesome hunt what were you carrying
Pretty bear, was it covered in ticks or burrs?
What song is playing in the background?
Live By The Gun from El Wencho
😎👍🔥👌
Jason- what is the name of the intro song you use? Love it.
'Live By The Gun' from El Wencho
Could u recommend a boot that can take a few years of absolute abuse in the mtns?
I love using Schnee's Boots. The Kestrels for early season and the Granites for later in the year or higher elevations.
