    Steel wool and Magic Eraser will scratch porcelain! If you use these, you will create grooves in the porcelain. That will add to the stain problem, making a less smooth surface for staining to get worse.

    • @JonnyDIY

      The steel wool is very fine. I've been using those scrubby pads for over 20 years this way, never an issue. But if worried could use even less abrasive scrub pads 👍

    Lysol Power cleaning toilet bowl cleaning gel works amazing! Literally, let it soak 20 minutes and any stains on the toilet rub right off so easily. all them brown stains streaking down the bowl from every water ridge gone so easily. I could not believe how easy. try it, I forget if it smells like licorice or some wintergreen/peppermint, but something like that, not bad for a chemical.. i get migraines from strong smells, it is a strong smell but it is a pleasant smell and it doesnt cause any headaches for me.

    Good cleaning methods. 👍👍👍 If you got a lot of stubborn water deposits, then you need the heavy duty stuff. I use Bring It On. With a brush attached to your drill, that stuff can take just about anything off, even hard water deposits mixed with soap scum and mold that are resistant to acid washes.

      I use a mix of comet and baking soda and scrub with a stiff brush. I make like a paste with it. If really greasy try using dawn dish soap first to cut the greasy parts first

      😆 I feel you. I made sure I wore gloves for this one. You can also just turn off water and flush toilet and fill with white vinegar for a couple days (if you have a spare toilet) 👍

    • @audiophileman7047
      @audiophileman7047 Před 9 měsíci

      Be careful when using acid based cleaners like vinegar and caustic based cleaners; they can destroy rubber seals. Soaking for days may not be a good idea for some cleaning projects. Minimal contact time is probably okay. @@JonnyDIY

    Do not use steal wool it stains the bowl and very hard to get off. Just fill eith boiled vingar and a packet of citric acid and leave it overnight then tap any large chunks with a knife..only tap and it just comes off in chunks.

      No need to use bleach, try using barkeeper's friend powder 👍 also a scouring stick works wonders on tough spots

    • @dustinperry8512
      @dustinperry8512 Před 2 měsíci

      Lady goes by " clean freak & germaphobe" i believe its a couple things , one being lycol rust and lime, . . Not bleach. With some other things. Also for real tough stuff. Brick Acid just dissolves the toughest stains, let it sit for 15 min, just eats it away

  • @RyanK-100
    @RyanK-100 Před měsícem +1

    NO, NO, NO. Never use comet, and certainly never use a metal scouring pad like Brillo. Well, now that you have destroyed the outer coating of the ceramic (the glaze) I guess it doesn't matter. You need to know whether to clean something mechanically or chemically. On ceramic, you must clean chemically. You can use the acid pastes (drain the toilet water) or just use straight vinegar and let it sit for 30 minutes. The scale will be removable with a plastic toilet brush.

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  Před měsícem

      Will try the vinegar again. I've tried before but it hasn't worked for tough stains/deposits. Maybe if left for days on those if could do without use of toilet

  • @TheRgum

    Mine still won’t come out 😢and the water won’t go all the way down like yours

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY  Před 5 měsíci

      Turn the water supply valve off and then flush toilet and hold handle down til all water drained from tank. Then bail out any leftover water with a rag or sponge. I used some white vinegar last week and let it soak all day before cleaning, worked pretty well. Longer you can let set the better. And for stains other than bottom. Put paper towels on then then soak them in the vinegar 👍
