you'd have to either eat a lot of bad mold all at once or for a long period of time for it to do any serious damage. Diarrhea isn't usually a severe health problem, anything can give people diarrhea. I wouldn't recommend eating mold but I would suggest that they don't panic if they accidently ate a small portion of it on their bread or something, just drink lots of water and it should flush out.

The whole box will not be thrown out because one orange began to rot on the way to another country, people only think we live in a world where we have infinite amounts of resources to do whatever we want. I worked taking care of an elderly woman once when I was in Uni as a means of making some extra cash, and her son was always there when I took care of her. The house had a huge stank of mold and humidity.... I could never even drink a glass of whatever there cause everything was just so badly kept. It was so bad, the son's breath also smelled of mold. Don't ask me how or why.... maybe it was all the kitchen utensils that he used that had mold, I have no idea. I even caught him one day just out of it and talking to himself on multiple occasions. He even admitted to this, just saying it was natural to him. Oh and the shoes he would wear... you could just see any dent and lining on them just filled with mold. I felt so bad for him, apparently he was a retired accountant and lived alone with his mother who was in her 90s and far gone with dementia and he too had lost it, becoming isolated in this house. I can't imagine just being with your mom at 60 every single day and you yourself start losing control of your own mental health. Truly the most unhygienic place I have ever been and the saddest work environment. I left after his mother died a month or two later. I few years later I saw him on the subway. How did I know? I smelled a really strong smell of mold and when I looked around I saw him sitting there staring at me. Never saw him after that. I always wondered what happened to him if he digested the mold in anyway....

I put it in the oven and start eating once it’s done, but I’d notice it doesn’t taste “right.” Not exactly a horrible taste, but not much of a good taste either. Almost tasteless in a way. So I’d tear off the cheese and look at the bread, and then I’d see green moldy spots all in it. Thankfully I’ve never gotten sick tho, just grossed out

By the time I got to the ER an hour or so later, my throat had closed up, and they jabbed me with adrenaline and I passed out. They had to do that twice so that I could breathe! And the gasp I heard from the nurse when she saw my face was enough to confirm that I was pretty f'ed up. That was only one of the times I nearly died!

I don't think people would be inclined to eat food with mold growing on it, thankfully, 'use by dates', fridges, good packaging and better general knowledge about food safety prevents most of these problems.

Idk how anyone could get that far with a piece of moldy bread, when my bread starts to go bad, the smell of yeast, punches you in the nose. Coming from someone that will cut mold off cheese and use the rest

The taste of mold stayed in my mouth for 2 days, even after brushing my teeth and using mouthwash
