    Received my gloves this week, the identical model, 16oz as in the review. I understand your review is now three years old. They must have taken notice or you were just really unlucky as mine are perfect. All the stitching is 100% on point and there are no manufacturing faults that I can pick up on at all. Great gloves, highly recommended.

      @Maximalisms Před 3 lety +1

      best would be to have 2 sets of gloves with a dedicated set for sparring when you’re ready. But to be honest, it might be a while before you spar and I started out with a pair of 14 all around gloves for a while before I got sparring gloves and headgear

    • @Daniel-cp2ps
      @Daniel-cp2ps Před 3 lety

      Don't get too hung up on weight - rival for instance use weight as hand size indicator - the padding is the same thickness.
      Theyre also different depending on the type of glove. Again using rival - 16oz sparring - 14oz bag - 10oz fight - xl.
      If possible get yourself to a shop and try on different brands as hand size varies per manufacturer as does hand shape. What might be comfortable to you wouldn't be comfortable for someone else.
      As for the number of pairs - if budget allows get at least two types - proper soft sparring gloves and hard bag gloves. Using bag gloves gives better feedback on your knuckles, allowing you to be more accurate and improve your striking. The soft sparring gloves can be used on the bag for when your hands might be a injured or the bag is as hard as concrete.
      Some gloves are more "universal" in that they have "medium"padding which helps with feedback and longevity but at the detriment of your sparring partner.
      Ideally all three types have their uses and now that I have found the "correct" glove for me (through trial and error im afraid) I have all three types in my bag.

      @mumble97 Před 3 lety +6

      Winnings are closer to 4-500 bucks for a pair. If you look at the website the base prices are for 8 oz. When you change it to 16 its far more. Winning is not bang for buck they charge up the yahoo like other Japanese based companies like Nintendo. Plus I believe they are pro gloves so if you spar and hit the bag in them they probably won't pass inspection for comp. These are much better value, just not a lot of street cred

    I have a pair of both the rfx fight gloves and rfx bag gloves and the quality is terrible. The leather is poor, the stitching is poor, the logos are coming off, the stitching is pulling apart in high stress locations.
    I have other various rival sparring gloves (rs100, rs2v 1 & 2) and they're all fine. Its just the rfx that seem to have issues.
    But for my hand shape they're the most comfortable glove I've had, particularly the thumb.
    With regard to phenom - I'm convinced they're the same manufacturer / design. Even the head guards are almost identical.

      Wish I saw this before I ordered my Guerrero HDE-F. Literally the worst pair of gloves I bought. Stitching is off, laces were frayed and coming apart, Rival printing was off, deep crease on the front knuckle of left glove, and the liner inside was so loose it felt like it was coming off around the fingers. Emailed customer service with Rival boxing Canada and they said their R&D saw nothing wrong with the gloves and would not refund or exchange for new ones. Very disappointed. Never buying Rival again. Very poor quality control and even worse customer service.

    TBH the left and the right looks a little bit different other than the flaws. The leather on your left looks more wrinkle in the finger area and the edges. I guess the two might not be made by the same person. It feels like some people make the left hand and some people make the right hand and in the final stage some one put them in one pair. Otherwise there should not be such an obvious difference.
