I like how the melee weapons are incidental. They use what they use because... that's all that's available. They're not picky, they just need a weapon and that's the best current option.
Just kinda a bit of a side rant, I wish Barney had a unique weapon in Blue Shift instead of simply using a crowbar. I feel like a nightstick would fit the character.
Better question is why Gordon and Barney don't use anything else as a melee weapon except the crowbar. I know Gordon is emotionally attached to his, but what's stopping Barney from, say... grabbing a random piece of metal and going all ninja with it? 🙂
I've seen the thumbnail and since I got a lot of HL documentary I watched it while thinking its a construsive explaination of why Shepart don't use a crowbar. This caugh me off guard well done, this made me laugh X)
reasonable logic:he was trained to use a knife but before that a wrench was right within his reach so..after he got the knife it didn't matter. a lively humorous reason:
bro i actually thought that this was gonna be a 1 hour long video about why he doesnt use it
@@EuropaBRace true
@@MuscleMMan idk but people that do half life Content love making 1 hour long videos so yeah.
eyy that's exactly what I hoped it looks like :p
@@NoVIcE_Source you did a great job then lol
Yo! 👋😎
Guess he wasn't a highly trained professional.
Shepard needs to hear this, he isn’t a highly trained professional!
i was going to say it
He was a highly trained grunt/marine, not a highly trained professional
Shepards a highly trained operator he doesn’t need to hear all this
You’re thinking of Gordon
Imagine wearing a helmet.
Hell what?
When i hear BENGK i can feel that
Barney wears a helmet
Helmets are overrated anyways
h

i love how the crowbar never makes contact with him in the video
Good eyes.
It scared him
He’s holding it
It hits his helmet
@@YasonYou use the frame by frame tool
Shepard needs a phD in crowbar's management
Just kinda a bit of a side rant, I wish Barney had a unique weapon in Blue Shift instead of simply using a crowbar. I feel like a nightstick would fit the character.
I’m Operation: Black Mesa
A currently in production remake of OpFor and Blueshift.
Barney wields a Flashlight as a melee weapon.
Minor laceration detected
Poor Adrian doesn't have built in morphine administer _😔_
Automatic medical systems engaged *inject* adrenaline administered
This is a significant improvement over the source video in terms of safety, which is concerning.
There's a source?
The source video was fake, it was with a rubber crowbar, you can see it bending at certain parts of the video.
"He's eh- Yeah like he just doesn't like crowbars ever since this happened."
He's a marine, they eat drawing implements, do you think he can be trusted with something as high tech as a crowbar?
Better question is why Gordon and Barney don't use anything else as a melee weapon except the crowbar. I know Gordon is emotionally attached to his, but what's stopping Barney from, say... grabbing a random piece of metal and going all ninja with it? 🙂
My theory, he knew how much Gordon loved crowbars, so he saved one for him and gave it to him in HL2
@@FunkelMcStumpI believe Barney had a few crowbars stashed away in HL2. 🙂
Because if he did go all ninja with a random piece of metal, one of the best hack-and-slash spin-off games of all times wouldn't exist

I like how this nail is just hammered into a solid concrete slab
thats a fusebox
you know, having a bat as your pfp is pretty fitting, because you seem to be blind
Why was he trying to remove it in the first place, isn't there more urgent stuff happening in Black Mesa?

it's the FUCKIN WEED SOLDIER AGAIN NOOOOOO
Great animation. I like that the crowbar almost teleports to his head rather than lots of frames. It gives it a stylised look.
His ass was so heavy it threw Adrian back along with the crowbar
lol
I blame the gas mask imagine wearing one for no reason that is likely uncomfortable and also trying to pull a nail out a wall, poor Adrian
His face IS the gas mask
Watched a 20 second unskippable ad to get here, worth it
That's what happens when you try to use a low poly crowbar with no notch in the middle. :p
he raised the bar
The crowbar clearly is an opposing force to Adrian
Adrian doesn't need a crowbar, he's a highly trained professional.
Now why doesn't Freeman use a Pipe Wrench or a Combat knife?
because he's stupid?
Didnt find any and i m attached to crowbar "emonitonaly"
"i have all my polygons, and i go chop chop chop..."
It seems that only Black Mesa has highly trained professionals...
He got that dawg in him
DOINK.
Maybe this is how he met the G Man the first time
his ass was too heavy
At least hes wearing a helmet
Traumatising experience.

Shepard's 'outside job'
Shepard:kills aliens and black ops also Shepard:bonks him self my a crowbar
the smartest hecu soldier lol
That helmet had to be strong to sound like that
Because he has an Omni-Tool??? What kind of question is this?
This is a parody of that grandfather who tried to do the same thing.
Dont worry, he's fine, he's wearing a helmet.
The bar has never been lower
That helmet should protect him though.
he fell down due to his heavy ass
I like how this references.... a certain video
what a nice video essay
Its funny how opposing force has the knife and wrench, half life the crowbar, but blue shift has no nightstick/police baton.
and this is why we wear helmets
maybe this is why shephard never returned
he didn’t know how to use a crowbar
Understandable I caan see why but this was great, never seen someone do Micheal Rapaport in Half Life but thank you for this.
He made the mistake of using it as intended
At least Gman doesn't have to work on an extra report now.
Good thing he wore a helmet.
Half-Life: Brain Damaged
He's a little tuckered out
Animation style just like the original, very nice
I was honestly expecting a whole video essay just based on the title and thumbnail alone LOL
He just built different
blud wanted to be just like gordon freeman
Very metallic head.
The Marine Corps will trust Shepard with and M249 SAW but yet they think he eats too many crayons to trusted with a crowbar?
Shepherd doesn't need to use this! He's a highly trained professional!
I was prepared for a 15-30 minute analysis but this told everything 🗿
I'm surprised the guy from blue shift didn't have a baton instead
[MINOR LACERATION DETECTED]
Because Gordon told him not to.
Bad experience moment
This is why Shephard uses wrench. Wrench remove nail with ease.
I leave the cropper to Cordon Freeman😂
you hear about those stories of armies working at home depot before being drafted or whatever?
GOD DAMMIT CORPORAL WHY CANT YOU LEARN HOW TO USE A CROWBAR!!!
Just goes to show why a degree from MIT is so important in Gordon’s field.
not even his helmet could save him
make more shepard vids! they're pretty funny
i will!
Nice animation tho, and good luck further!
Oh, it looks so painful.

This is canon
can we get more shephard please and thank you
atleast he tried
Poor Shephard
Don't worry guys he has a helmet he'll be safe
average crayon eater
he's fine he has helmet on so he fine
bro I thought this is gonna be a video explaining why 😭
lucky he has that helmet.
genius
Ahahaha great video!
i cant stop wathing this
Reminds me of the video of an old man doing the same
Handyman storm trooper capability
It hit him in the helmet so he's fine
I understood that reference!
its because he does tricks with stuff he finds cool
like a wrench
Briliant
splendid
Better question: why doesn't Barney use a nightstick instead of a crowbar?
yeah
Maybe guards in original Half life doesn't have nightstick or im wrong
He accidentally sat on the nightstic-
He is ok
IM SHAKIN IN MA BOOTS MAN THIS IS SO SAD D:
fair enough
