Jon did an amazing job. He struck a great balance with all the emotions going on in Shane’s head: someone is is envious of his best friend while also genuinely caring for them. He may’ve gone down the wrong path but it’s more of a tragic situation
I read the first comic recently and I honestly don't agree with your comment in the slightest. The Shane of the comic is literally an idiot and a bastard from moment 1 and hardly has as good development as the Shane of the series. They have nothing to do with each other.

Shane truly is one of the best characters in the walking dead, shame he didn’t survive for long. I would really have liked to see how Shane would have handled the conflict with The Governor, or the war against Negan.
@@ToleasekEditI think Shane would be killed by Negan because he would be more aggressive towards Negan in the line up sequence than Rick was. I think Negan would see Shane as someone he couldn't control so he'd kill him.
Better then rick. Shane wins still let me tell you how. Rick's biological kid died. Shane's biological daughter lived. Would u rather be rick and live but lose your son, or be shane and die but your daughter gets to live on. Shane wins in that aspect. Its Shane's kid not Rick's. Haha you lose rick.
@@G3RM3X617 Carl died saving a doctor's life. Shane died because he was butthurt he couldn't raise his biological daughter. Carl died a hero. Shane died as a member of the friend zone.
Everyone thought Shane was insane, when in reality he just adapted way quicker than everyone else did. He was in Season 8 mode while they were all in Season 1 mode. If he and Rick made peace and he stayed on the group, the rest of the villains would've been smoked and a lot of good people would've survived.
Fallen world or not Shane was definitely insane. Some sort of borderline personality disorder and narcissism that was always there, just became out of control

Shane may be a jerk at times but I like it when he beats the hell outta Ed, because he really had it coming, cause he was a wife beater and child abuser. So Shane practically PUNISHED Ed for what he is. I'm sure some of you get the pun, cause he plays the punisher several years later.
@@khicomrostudio8658I think that scene alone inspired Marvel to hire Jon Bernthal to play the Punisher. In Daredevil Season 2 he straight up murders a pawn shop owner who is a pedo.
Shane was also a cop which im sure he saw plenty of abuse cases in which he couldnt do much. Im sure there is a long last hatred for people like that in his mind
I wish shane was around to fight the future villains like: The governor. Joe and the claimers. Gareth. The wolves. Negan and the saviors. The whisperers. The reapers. And, the commonwealth soilders.
Shane would have died by the hands of the governor just like Rick. Michonne was the only one to truly survive the governor 1 on 1 combat, when she killed the governor’s daughter. She saved Rick from being strangled to death.
After being a fan of the show. Then recently reading the first comic, as a previous commenter stated they really couldnt have chosen a better actor and script to combine together. Seriously John here is practically identical to comic Shane IMO
Watching this now i realize shane beating up Ed could also sybolize his lost of Lori sice she pretty much disowned him and when rick came back to his life alive snd needed something(one) to take his anger out.
Jon Bernthal is such a phenomenal actor who brought the character to life better than anyone else possibly could have. To be able to play a character so well that the audience has genuine love for him sometimes and genuine hatred at other times is no easy task.
i remember watching the first episodes of the show and getting a feeling that Lori and Shane were actually doing way better than Lori and Rick. i strongly dislike Lori as a character, but it does seem like she was a lot more comfortable with Shane because he, unlike Rick, was never scared of any kind of conversations. remember how Lori walks away to her tent when she doesn't agree with Shane about something instead of talking it through, and how Shane later on says "not that difficult, right?". it might have been a manipulation of Lori's, but it might have also been her expecting the same behaviour as Rick's - no discussions, nothing but silent disagreement. and well, honestly, all the scenes depicting interactions between Shane and Carl and Shane, Lori and Carl (frog legs scene for instance) never fail to make me smile. Shane would've made a really good and strong father and husband, decisive yet caring and protective. and damn he IS a great friend, despite what is said about him sometimes: guys he literally made sure either the walkers or the military never managed to get to Rick's ward, was heartbroken when he thought Rick died and took care of Rick's family immediately - not because he wanted to make them his but because it was his friend's wife and child, people he knew and cared about just as much as about Rick, he did a noble thing without hesitating for a second, without a single thought of how they could've become a burden to him or something.
Shane and Rick as bros was ironically one of the best things about the show over the comics. Shanes insanity and obsession felt so forced in Season 2, and definitely the one death I wish was changed.
@XHBunny could you pls make a "All Mike Barnes Moments for Mike Barnes in Season 5 of Cobra Kai" . People keep missing moments of his in their videos. Thanks!
