Nice! Coil over lift and 33 inch tires are on my 4Runner To Do list. I was planning on using the stock rims, so thanks for the spacer tip to fix the offset.
The rocket appliances and following TPB insert...instant subscription
You know what they say, keep your friends close and get your enemy's toaster
I installed my 32” light bar because of your video. And now I’m getting 275/70/17, so worried I may have a bit of rub. Thank you again for your videos.
Thanks for the vid, installing the lift and choosing tires on our 2003 this Saturday. Prepared to do a BMC if needed, thanks for letting me know the other things I might have to deal with! I have an FJ cruiser with 33s and it has the same suspension so this should be pretty straighforward. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!
Great info brother! I'm about to buy a 4th gen 4runner and your videos have been very helpful! Keep up the great content!
Thanks for watching!
I have a 2007 V8 , I got a 3/2 lift installed in mine and got 285/65R17's -12 offset.
Went wheeling for the first time yesterday and really impressed with how they handle.
Did you have to trim with the -12 offset I’m deciding to get 0 or -12 ..?..
I love the trailer park boys reference LOL
SMOKES NOW!
Sweet video. Just picked up a white 2006 v8, super useful video.
rocket appliances.... awesome Ricky'ism
You’re the best- great video, lots of information. Helped me make a decision. Well done, Thanks
They look great. I have -10 offset on mine so wonder if they'd rub too much. Guess I better try! 😊
Cool video! Wish you would have taken a shot from the back and front side to see how they look from those angles! 😎👌
Plenty of those angles in my other vids on this channel!
Looks awesome! What is the ground clearance from the rocker panel to the ground in inches?
I have the same exact wheel and tire specs with spc upper arms bilstien lift 2.5 front 2 in the rear and did not have to do a body mount chop either
I love TPB!
your 4tr looks rad.
Awesome video! To fix body mount rubbing on another 4runner you can play with caster to move it away.
Yup, you can notice from certain angles that my wheels sit a bit forward in the fenders
Hey! Random question, I know you live in Canada, how do you handle the rust on the bottom of your 4runner ? I recently bought mine in February! Any advice on coating and brands to use ? Mine has rust but its not eating away at the frame thankfully. Love your videos!
I take mine to a local oil spraying place, I have a vid on it
@@CanadianGearhead thanks! I'll look for it, I am new to ur channel so I am still watching ur videos! So much to go over
I just sprayed the outside of the frame and undercarriage of my 4Runner with PB Blaster Surface Shield. I still need to spray inside the frame with Fluid Film using a spray wand and air compressor because Surface Shield is only available in aerosol cans.
My 4Runner should last the rest of my life if I can keep the frame from rusting. I bought a new 4WD Tacoma that had the frame corrosion manufacturer's defect. The frame rusted through at 90,000 miles and it rusted completely in half at 139,000 miles. Toyota did nothing to reimburse me for their defect. The stealership actually laughed at my misfortune. They're psychopaths. F those guys. I'm never buying a new vehicle again. A Nissan truck would have cost a lot less and lasted a lot longer.
What year is your 4 Runner? I have a 2013 SR5_ 2" lift and I'm wanting to get those tires. Definitely don't want to do a body chop
Putting on 305/65r17s on my 04’ tomorrow😛
I installed -12 offset wheels n went with 275/75/17 on 18 limited. Rubs during solid turns. Not sure how to take care of that or rather if I can diy it. Love the look but hate the rub
Bilstein 5100 2.5in lift running 0 offset 4.75 backspacing runnin 285 70 17. Full turn you have about a 1/2in clearance to the frame.
Is that with the stock rims? Thanks
@@MrDunkkerr updated full lock rubs with method wheels 17s
But very drivable
Picked up some 275 70 17 to avoid cutting and I still rub
Hey what are the measurements from the center of the wheel to bottom of guard front and rear if you dont mind me asking? Hard to get the correct lift where I am so might have to import a kit
You’re runner is beautiful
2009 4Runner SR5, 2.5" lift
Currently have 30.6" tires (265/70, 16)
I'm looking at a set of new tires (285/70, 17) which is a 32.7" tire.... originally wanted a 35" tire, but it's going to cost too much money to get the mods done...
Rims I'm thinking of a -12 offset.
Wondering if these would need any big mods/cuts?
What about the UCA?
If i go up to a 285/70, 17... which is more like a 33.8", would that be a big difference in terms of the mods needed?
Love the channel. How do you like the OME Rear springs? Do you have any weight in the back?
They ride great. I don't typically have much weight in the back but occasionally I load it up with people or gear and it doesn't notice it at all
I’m curious if running 16s would make it easier ??
That is nice 🥇
Where did you good the hood bug deflector ?
Hey great video !!!! Do you have the stock Upper Control arms ??
Yes I do
What's the difference bettween 17R and 17S?
Hey Man, what´s the model of the wheel ??, I mean the rim model. Good video!!
Method Standards
how much did the lift and bigger wheels affect your fuel economy? Are you doing anything about rust underneath?
I have vids about both of those things on my channel!
I have a 2005 4runner v8 and fully regret just cutting my front fender to fit my 33s. Wish I had just pushed it back like you did. Now it is exposing a lot. Any ideas to maybe replace it or get something to cover up the exposure now?
If you're talking about the fender liners you can just buy new ones but if you cut the actual fender, that's a bigger issue
What's the specific paint color on your 4runner? Looks halfway between black and gray; is there a special name for it? I'm thinking about painting mine the same color as yours! Sick 4runner!!
Toyota calls it Shadow Grey
I think the full paint color is shadow gray mica. mine is the same color. Paint code 1F4. It's has metallic flecks in it. Depending on the light it can have a slight brown look, or even a very deep dark green, and sometimes a dark charcoal color. It's a real cool color. It seems to be a relatively less common color. There was a lighter gray that seems to be a more common one.
Hey man. About to do Bilstein 5100 2.5 lift front, 2 inch rear spring lift. Same lift height as yours basically. If I want to do no trimming whatsoever 285/70/17 is out, but what about 275? If 275 requires any trimming just going to stick with 265/70/17
I'm not sure, I've never run that size
Have you had any issues with rocks taking paint off without the mud flaps? I know you have a ceramic on yours but I took the mudflaps off of my Sierra and it just sandblasted the paint off of my rockers. That's been my biggest reservation about taking mine off on my runner now
Yeah that's a downside. Mine already has plenty of chips to begin with and with the tire fitment, the mudflaps weren't actually helping much anyways
@@CanadianGearhead Ah. Yeah I'll probably hold off then. When I bought mine it still had the factory running boards so they're pretty flawless. At least for the most part where they'll hit they're plastic panels on the doors
Would a v6 2wd have a hard time running these wheels and tires? Would it strain the engine?
The engine should have plenty of power
What’s your offset
Idk if you will see this cause the video was posted a while ago but are you running spacers or offset?
No spacers, they're 0 offset
I cut my plastics, but still run on the body mounts when turned at the right angle. Pretty annoying. Might downgrade size or lift more
Lifting probably won't help in that case, you'll need to chop the body mounts
Hi amazing videos, I’m about to get this wheels, but I can’t afford a fox suspension, i wonder what you recommend and btw I got a 2006 Toyota 4Runner 4x2 limited. Thank you
A simple spacer lift will get you the same clearance for a lot less money
alternatively, 5100s with aftermarket coils are a great budget upgrade. I like OME 885
What are the specs of your rims
Hey I have returned 6 months later. How did you move the fender liner on the right side? Because there are like, fluids and stuff on left side and not that much space like in driver... right?
I didn't have any trouble with moving the liner forward on either side
Any recommendations on similar tires that wouldn’t require trimming?
I'd stick with a 275 or less if you don't want to trim anything at all
@@CanadianGearhead right on ✋🏼
Finally got the wife’s blessing to start the build on our 06😁
Do you have a spare tire on the 4runner? How would you deal with a flat? I’m thinking about bumping up from 265 to 285s but sounds like I would have to attach it to the back of the truck.
My current strategy is hoping and praying
I haven't upgraded to larger 4Runner wheels, but when I do, I'll just keep the smaller stock tire as the spare. I'm only going to drive it far enough to repair or replace the larger tire and put the smaller spare back in its place.
What wheels are you running? (Not tires, but rims)?
Method Race Wheels
I wonder if your truck is lifted. Will this fit my stock 07? Thx
Mine is lifted roughly 2"
I have a 3” suspension lift. Will 285/70R17’s fit snug with no trimming or cutting?
You'll need to trim for sure
whats the spec on your wheels bro
17x8.5 0 offset bro
Hey, How many inches are the wheel spacers?
No spacers on this one
Is your back lifted or is it just the front
Rear is lifted 2"
would they fit with stock control arms ?
Mine are stock
Fucken mint. Tpb win
These are 17x9 wheels 0 offset? 285/70 tires?
The wheels are 17x8.5
Name of the bug deflector for the hood pls
It's a Toyota one
Is your rim 8jj or 8.5??
Offset or onset??
8.5, 0 offset
Why is the front lift taller than back?
Because the front sits lower from the factory
what’s the link for those tires
canadiangearhead.com/best-offroad-tire-for-winter/
What size lift do you have?
Bit over 2" up front and 2" rear
what brand are the wheels??
Method Race Wheels
Great video, thank you!!! By law you need mudflaps on those rear wheels though. Run the risk of being ticketed. Cops have better things to do but it's a polite thing for others so you're not chucking rocks on the highways.. But regardless :) Nice rig.
They're only required here if the bumper doesn't block a certain amount of the tire. My old Grand Cherokee didn't come with them at all.
des the 285 fit in your spare compartment?
trying to figure out whats the max i can stow on my 4th gen SR5 4WD V6 hitch
I haven't tried it, I've read that some people can fit one if it's deflated
Can I put the 33s without 3 inch lift?
Mine doesn't have 3" of lift, but you'll have to do some trimming no matter what
Yes. It’s the same concept. Even when you lift your rig your suspension will still compress which would put it back to stock height. So it’s the same lifted up to 3 inch as non lifted. The only things that would make it not compress is a drop bracket lift, Spindles( 2wd only), or bigger bump stops. Which is all silly imo
Hey I was just wondering what offset you have on your standard method wheels? I've been looking to get some for my 2006 4Runner.
0 offset
asshole prick he said it like twice in the video
sorry man im going to have to coppy you on at least the wheel set up. it looks too good.
You're more than welcome to! I have links to everything on my website
@@CanadianGearhead awesome! Thanks. I went the magnaflow muffler route at least for the time being for exhaust. Im going to have the resonator cut off too i think.
@@CanadianGearhead wow. Your website is very helpful!
