The and publishers who hired them shrugged and accepted it. Oh, and another of those publishers? None other than Phoenix Games as they made Lion and the King 3, Dalmatians 3 and Animal Bloody Soccer World... I can hear the screams of terror already... And they sound like the scary nuns from Dingo Pictures' Hunchback of Notre Dame bootleg.

I remember the original Game Informer review. They said they had never seen a developer put such an effort into making a game suck so hard.
5-year-old me absolutely loved this game. Apart from the weird character stats thing, it was just a cheap PS2 game. The worst game ever is a huge exaggeration.

I actually found out what happened to the game. I got in touch with one of the designers. He said that the designers had NO experience working on a game before and The Code Monkeys hired newcomers willing to get into the game industry. They also found it very difficult to programme the game. He is aware of the games infamy and is disappointed with the final product.
It's neat to look into the behind-the-scenes stuff like that. Like look at the Zelda games on the Phillips CDI: when you find out those games were both made in a year, at the same time, on a shoestring budget, by developers with next to no coding experience, and for a console that wasn't even a games console in the traditional sense, you go from saying "wow these games suck" to saying "wow it's a testament to the skills of the developers that these games are even as playable as they are".
Who was the designer? I'd love to learn more about The Code Monkeys.
@@fictionalmediabully9830 It actually wasn't a designer. The designer was uncredited. It actually came from some of its art team. I should have updated my original post. I found out that the design document was unfinished and the game went straight into production. The original producer left the project and was replaced by someone else. The Code Monkeys team only had very small experience working on low budget games which is why this game failed.

It would be great if I could interview the developers someday. The Code Monkeys sounds like an easier low-tier British games studio to research than Asylum Entertainment Ltd.

I loved playing the simpsons wrestling as a kid, and I never got to experience Road Rage because, no joke, my brother drooled on the disc before putting it in.
He drooled on it because he went into a world of his own and just started doing it.

Um, no. Bart went to the Christian school that one time, and Lisa turns up to West Springfield Elementary in Trilogy of Error. And there are the snooty upper class schools as well. And I think at the start of 'Skinner's Sense of Snow' the radio broadcast lists off all the schools that are closed due to the snow storm.

i used to play this game when i was young and if you try hard enough homer can do a kickflip
it's easier to just turn off the console and remove the game disk than having homer do a kickflip, though.

Honestly, I loved this game. I was a master at it. I could do those special moves that required you to move the control stick everywhere. I actually liked the characters commenting on your actions. It makes the game feel less empty in my opinion. The ending is a let down, I had to look it up later. Also, I had never played any Tony Hawk game so this was my first skateboarding game. I still like it, honestly. I would love to play it again if I had a ps2. That and the Spongebob games.

I remember getting this game as a child, and legitimately throwing it away because it frustrated me so much. I couldn't understand what I was doing wrong especially since I owned 2 Tony hawk games and played them well

I had played Hit & Run and Road Rage so I asked Santa for another Simpsons game for Christmas. I had no idea whether there even was another Simpsons game but I thought, if anyone could find one, it'd be Santa. My parents got me Skateboarding and it's pretty much the only time where I wish I wouldn't have gotten what I asked for for Christmas.
I played the simpsons wrestling. I was hella young. Young me didn't understand anything, but the fact that i almost completed the whole game just by clicking every button in the controller makes the game feel funny.
