How To Make A Custom Halo Helmet [Tutorial ]

- Have you ever wanted your own custom halo helmet, but every time on etsy or ebay they go for roughly 150 dollars or more? Well, when the Halo Master Chief helmet by Disguise came out, we saw it as the perfect opportunity to make our own helmets inspired by our halo persona's used within RTR. In this video we will show you guys how to make your own Halo helmet, without it breaking the bank, and have it look professional.
The process itself took a while to get started, and being in New York during the month of December didn't help much either. None the less we got the job done. Larry and I hope that you guys enjoyed our little video on how we modified these helmets!

Those helmets look awesome dude.
I have weathering so possible weathering methods you could play around with. Have you ever tried chipping medium for weathering? I’ve mainly seen it used on scale model vehicles, but 343 used it on their full scale masterchief costume that gets used for events.
Basically spray the helmet a dark silver, then spray a chipping medium ( or even a regular hairspray which is cheaper), and then spray whatever colour you want on top. Use water and dampen a cue tip, and run it along the edges where the paint would ware off. Basically the water reacts with the chipping medium or hairspray and removes the top layer of paint and doesn’t react with the bottom layer. It looks a lot more like chipped metal if done right as the silver is layered at the bottom.
You could also try some washes, thinning down darker paints to almost a water and covering the entire helmet in a thin layer and will settle in the recesses. Works best if you seal everything with a clear coat and using a different type of paint for the wash. So like if you paint the helmet with acrylic, do a clear coat and then use an enamel wash. This way you can use enamel thinners to remove parts of the wash from certain areas, or altogether if it doesn’t look right and it won’t damage the acrylics.
There’s some tutorials round on here for those methods if you fancy playing around with them. But great work with these ones, they look sick😁
thank you so much for the great advice! I actually plan to weather my helmet with a wash and add lights. If I use an acrylic black paint wash over my clear coated helmet, it should do the trick right?

@@HighCouncilMedia ye an acrylic wash should be fine. I’d recommend building up with thin layers, using quick brush strokes and a fairly large brush. Watch out pooling on flat surfaces as that can be a bit of pain 😁

Thanks! Yes, currently with the hype surrounding Halo merch and scalpers, things have gotten a little out of hand. I would try looking in target and party city a little before or after Halloween since that's how my friend and I got ours.

Its possible Target or Party City will have them again this year. I would recommend checking those two places either shortly before or after Halloween. Although, who knows how long they will continue to make this affordable Helmet. Best of Luck and Happy you enjoyed!

To those doing this make sure to search up halo INFINITE helmet not the halo 4/5 one it will not fit ur head i see too many reviews from dads dudes n gifters n such saying theres "2" versions of this helmet when they're confusing the two different styles from games.
