And thus the other shoe finally drops, every episode of this show had Order 66 in the back of our minds, waiting, lurking, festering. Now, after coming to know the clones and Jedi more we do feel sad about it happening. Certainly makes Revenge of the Sith more somber.

5:29 There’s a small detail that can be hard to notice since its subtle and happens pretty fast, When Rex yells “Stay back!!” a tear can be seen rolling down his face along with the shaking.
Truly showing just how much he doesn’t want to kill his friend and how hard he’s trying to fight the chip, before it inevitably takes full control of him.

Ultimately I believe that Fives did so much more than most think.
Because of him, Rex, Ahsoka, Gregor, and Wolffe all make it through to the age of the empire, where they all serve huge rolls in the rebellion and Ahsoka doing even more after that. If Fives hadn’t made Rex aware of the chips, it’s even possible that the attack on the first Death Star wouldn’t have happened, because while they would have had the plans, they may not have had the resources or manpower to attempt it without help from Ahsoka and the clones.

1.What makes Order 66 so heartbreaking is that most of the Clones didn't just *turn off* their emotions during it. They were forced to kill their superiors, friends and people they almost considered family (Plo Koon for instance treated his Clones really well and often risked his life to protect them, which made them all treat him almost like a teacher, rather than just a general)
In fact, most were completely grief stricken after the fact and either went into self imposed exile or straight up game ended themselves.
    Its *really* damn sad.
    2. Buckle up, these last 4 episodes of Clone Wars end the series on a *bang*

Yeah, it didn't turn the clones into robots. They still loved each other and feared. Otherwise, they wouldn't be screaming when the ship crashed. Or when the clone trooper tries his hardest to save his brother from Maul. The worst thing is that the chip just made them follow Order 66 mindlessly and without regard to their own safety.

I’m glad Beth noticed it at the beginning. The low music, the quietness, everything seems so eerie at the beginning of the episode. A moment when it’s supposed to be celebrated after capturing Maul, the liberation of Mandalore, the end of the war and yet nothing seems quite right because of all this tension that we as the audience know what’s about to happen

Boy, they did a great job keeping you on edge this episode! Once they told you Anakin was going to talk to the Chancellor, you knew Order 66 was about to happen. They then kept things eerily quiet as the suspense and dread continued to build. And then when Rex said he was going to listen to the latest reports, your heart sank, because you knew it was finally here; and from there, it became a desperate struggle for survival. How will this all end? And how much will be lost in the process? You'll see in the heartbreaking conclusion, next time.

You pointed out that Ahsoka wasn't trying to kill the clones. That's a good detail.
She was confused and defending herself because she didn't know what was happening.
She didn't want to kill the clones and was holding onto a small semblance of hope she could get answers but then she had to run before getting overwhelmed.
Imagine that feeling in every other jedi that wasn't at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant or the Jedi who saw Anakin leading the 501st up into the temple. Most regarded the clones as their friends and in the blink of an eye, were attacked by their friends. They were killed, scared, confused and died not knowing why.

Fun fact #1: The Jedi Council's discussion of Palpatine is in fact the one seen in Revenge of the Sith. And I don't just mean the lines are the same, but it's that very recording used in the film, so it's actually Sam Jackson and Silas Carson (Ki Adi Mundi) we hear in the first part. So are the Force echoes of Windu vs Palpatine and Anakin's betrayal, although the "What have I done?" line was voiced by Matt Lanter.
#2: Anakin's clearence code is 8108. That's the date of the TCW pilot movie's premier: 8/10/2008 in month/day/year format.

bit of a “fun” fact, the 501st clone medic Kix really took Fives’ words to heart and investigated the chips himself. He found everything out but got kidnapped by the separatists. However, the ship he was held on (he was kept frozen in cryostasis) was attacked and crashed on a planet. He survived and stayed frozen for decades. During the sequel era, abt 40-50yrs after the clone wars, he was woken by pirates, and traumatized at learning wt happened to the jedi and his brothers. He eventually joined them and technically ended up being the last surviving clone

Unfortunately the powers that be got wind of it and Kix was abducted by Separatists.

Well, only one episode to go and the Clone Wars journey will officially be over. Exciting to be sure, but a bit sad being at the end of such a great series. Between this episode and the finale, it's honestly a toss up for which one's my favorite. I go back and forth between the two every time I try to rank my favorite episodes, so these are usually tied for number 1. That conversation between Ahsoka and Rex is so beautiful and heartfelt, really showing the deep friendship those two have and the respect they have for each other, which is why Order 66 activating the literal next moment is such a soul crushing moment (or "shattering" if you will 😀). It's such a great and terrible storytelling moment all at once. I also really love the juxtaposition of Rex before and after Order 66 and just how much he changes, going from the great character with the well defined personality we've come to know over the years to one of the mindless obedient meat robot that the clones started out as back in Attack of the Clones. You can see it in the other clones too, but with Rex it's much more evident. With all that out of the way, let's move on to this episode's fun facts!
The conversation between the members of the Jedi Council in the hologram before Ahsoka joins to inform them of her success on Mandalore is taken directly from a scene in Revenge of the Sith (I'm pretty sure the audio is lifted straight from the movie). The conversation takes place shortly after Obi-Wan and the 212th engage Grievous on Utapau; Commander Cody calls to inform them that he and Obi-Wan have made contact and Mace Windu sends Anakin to inform Palpatine of the news, so Anakin and Ahsoka miss each other by mere minutes. The Venator-class Star Destroyer that Ahsoka and the 332nd Division use to transport Maul and themselves to Coruscant is called the Tribunal. After the very heartwarming conversation between Ahsoka and Rex, where Ahsoka echoes Mace Windu's words from Attack of the Clones about the Jedi supposedly being "keepers of the peace, not soldiers," we get more snippets of dialogue from Revenge of the Sith from Palpatine's arrest by Windu and several other Masters from the Council and Anakin's intervention and fall to the dark side. When we hear Anakin say "What have I done?," we hear both Hayden Christensen's voice and Matt Lanter's voice (the actor who voices him in the series). An interesting thing I noticed is when Palpatine tells Rex to execute Order 66, Rex responds and calls him Lord Sidious; if I'm not mistaken, Rex is the only Commander (at least of the ones we see getting the Order) that addresses him by his Sith name, the others just call him "my Lord." I'm not sure if this means anything or if it was even intentional, it might have just been an oversight or something, but I thought it was at least worth pointing out. When Ahsoka is defending herself from the now hostile clones, we hear the music piece "Anakin's Dark Deeds" from the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack, which is fitting given what is happening simultaneously with the events we're seeing in this episode (Anakin's Dark Deeds is one of my favorite John Williams pieces, I'd highly recommend you guys listen to the full thing on CZcams in your spare time, it's quite good).
After Ahsoka frees Maul, we see him join the ranks of Star Wars characters to get what has been appropriately named a "hallway scene" where a Force user walks down a hallway and takes out multiple enemies with ease and (usually) a lot of brutality. Maul's hallway scene, however, is unique in the fact that he exclusively uses the Force in one way or another to kill the enemies in his way; all of the other similar scenes in recent memory have the Force users also use their lightsabers, which Maul of course couldn't do because he lost his and Ahsoka wouldn't share. When Ahsoka leaves to go find information of Fives like Rex told her to in his last moments before the inhibitor chip took over, she heads to the Tribunal's droid bay where we see three astromechs. Two of them, RG-G1 (G-G) and CH-33P (Cheep) are making their first appearance. The other droid, R7-A7, is the droid assigned to Ahsoka when she was with the Jedi; he made his first appearance in the episode "Storm Over Ryloth" all the way back in season one. When they are trying to get access to the sealed file in Fives' case, Ahsoka says to use Anakin's passcode 8108; I don't know if it's been confirmed, but I'm pretty sure this is a reference to when the Clone Wars movie aired (August 10, 2008, or 8/10/08), launching the series itself. They are able to isolate and incapacitate Rex and take him to the ship's medical bay to remove his inhibitor chip. When they have trouble finding the chip due to it's biological design, Ahsoka puts her hands on Rex's head and recites the lines "I am one with the Force and the Force is with me" repeatedly; this is part of the Guardian's Mantra, a prayer spoken by members of the Guardians of the Whills. We first hear these words spoken by Chirrut Imwe, one of the last members of the Guardians left at their original temple on Jedha in the time of the Empire in Rogue One: A Star Wars story. The name of the guardians is actually a reference to an early version of what would become the Force in A New Hope. The Whills were going to be immortal beings recording the events of the galaxy in a journal (the Journal of the Whills) and the movies were going to be told from their perspective. A New Hope's script was actually titled "Adventures of the Starkiller as taken from the Journal of the Whills, Saga I: The Star Wars" in its second draft. The idea was ultimately dropped, but the Whills have been mentioned in several Star Wars sources, with the Journal itself being made canon in the novelization of The Force Awakens by Alan Dean Foster, who wrote the novelization for the original film.
Whew, that was a lot more than I thought i was going to have for this episode, but we got through it, so that's good I suppose. I can't wait to see you all watch the series finale, I'm so excited! I'll see you on Tuesday for the final episode, season 7, episode 12, "Victory and Death." See you then! 😃

So, after you finish the last (Next) episode of "Clone Wars", are you going to continue the journey? "Bad Batch" is next in chronological order, and you have the bonus of having already met them... 3 seasons of that... The series finale just aired VERY recently...
"Rebels" also makes sense too... It shows the roots of the formation of the rebellion... Might even catch up with some "Old Friends" here and there too... I have a feeling you are going to LOVE Chopper... 4 Seasons of that series...
Another bonus for watching "Rebels"... There are certain "Easter Eggs" found in the movie "Rogue One" that would only be located/appreciated if you are familiar with that series... Nothing that effects the movie, but plenty for "Rebels" fans to lose their minds over...
You really should watch "Rebels" "Mandalorian" and "Book of Boba Fett" BEFORE moving on to the "Ahsoka" series... They all hold pieces to the story line of "Ahsoka" that helps set up that series...

Maul unfortunately being completely right about Anakin turning to the dark side is something i didn't see coming at first either. Its really conflicting because the best option, imo, at that moment was to agree to help Maul take down Sidious. She could've contacted Anakin before the stuff with Mace & Palpatine all went down and perhaps stopped it all happening. The bad part of that was the Maul would replace him of course but the entire Jedi order vs Maul would've been a much better outcome than the one we got.

One of the best pillars of strength of this arc's writing is that we all know it was coming. 99% of Star Wars fans probably saw Revenge of the Sith before starting The Clone Wars. We all collectively knew Order 66 was coming. And this entire episode was structured to force the build up to that moment.
We all knew it was coming. We all saw the build up happening. And the exact moment that the shoe dropped...hits perfectly.
I see so many show writers and newer shows rely on unsuspecting twists or "I didn't see that coming" moments but this arc went in the complete opposite direction and I am absolutely here for it.

The meeting was obviously taken straight from RotS, so we know now that it didn't just end in the movie. There was more to it.
Man fuck Mace Windu, lol. Snarky asshole.
It's sad to see Yoda still want Ahsoka back. You can tell Yoda cares for Ahsoka. :(
"This is the way", lol, not sure if that was intentional or if you watched The Mandalorian yet, but that's a main quite from the show, lol.
I can't stand seeing Rex sad. You can tell he's trying o fight the chip, the tear, telling Ahsoka as much as he can before it took full control of him. Fives did not die in vein!!! Without his persistence, he wouldn't have had Rex know, and Rex wouldn't have been able to push through to get Ahsoka the knowledge she used to rescue him. :(
    I can't stand seeing Rex sad. 😭😭

The table meeting scene. You two need to have that little boy in mind. He’s pretty important. His master Depa Billaba has a brief appearance in Phantom Menace. And has been heavily featured in comics. She was Mace Windu’s apprentice. In both continuities, she had a brush with the Darkside and made some big mistakes. In Ledgends she was in a permanent coma. In Disney canon, she woke up with about a year and a half left in the war. She got back into the fighting with her first apprentice Caleb Dume. In her particular case, you can read comics about the character both Legends and Canon are valid. There is also two must read books! Star Wars: A New Dawn and Kanan: The Last Padawan. The novel has an audio book. And the 12 issue comic has a fan dub that is rearranged in chronological order. The comic is about Kanan and it’s set in three different points in his life. The fan dub is really good and on CZcams and you only need to get about half way through it for the backstory.

Hwat makes this mich worse is the clones are conscious and fully aware of what they are doing and what they see so when rex qent fully under the chips control he say himself trying to execute Ashoka but like a puppet coulldnt do a thing but watch

Interesting how Rex is the only Clone to say "Yes, Lord Sidious" instead of "Yes, my lord" like the others.

    • @HarleyQuinn-vb5dm
      @HarleyQuinn-vb5dm Před měsícem +1

I think that's because Rex was just that self aware, that even while the brainwashing had been activated he was still conscious. It's also the reason why he fought so hard to keep from shooting Ahsoka long enough so he could tell her about Fives. He fought harder than any other clone and it's one of the reasons Rex is my favorite.

    • @MarcelJ.
      @MarcelJ. Před měsícem +2

@@HarleyQuinn-vb5dm I'd say it's just that Rex is the only clone that knows Sidious' name at that point. Could be wrong though.

    • @darkest1assassin

No every single clone that refers to sidious calls him lord sidious. The chips are programmed to follow orders from him. Even in the movies commander Cody refers to him the same way. And the next episode Jesse also says lord sidious.

      @@darkest1assassin czcams.com/video/Qt7dTHOxwiU/video.html
Cody and Yoda's Commander both say 'My Lord'. What Jesse says to Rex is: 'You said yourself, we're on special order from Darth Sidious to eliminate Ahsoka Tano' czcams.com/video/GpGfodUy4Ww/video.html , so he knows the name from Rex. Yes, the chips are programmed to follow Sidious' orders, but his name doesn't have to be necessarily included for that.

Darth Maul was a piece of furniture in the original Phantom Menace movie. He's nothing. Dave Filoni took that worthless character and made him one of the most complicated and interesting villains in the Star Wars universe.

Love this episode, but Ahsoka treating Bo-katan with more respect than she does the Jedi is still cringe worthy 4 years later. Her first impression of Bo-Katan was getting m0lested by her, then she witnessed first hand as Bo-Katan turned a freaking flamethrower at civilians, and then she almost got killed by her.
