- Fishing a beautiful wild river with one goal, to catch the fish that changed my life forever. We catch some incredible fish and cover a huge amount of river, but will we see our target fish on the bank? Light lure fishing on rivers has to be one of my favourite ways to fish, especially salmon fishing, trout fishing and chub fishing. After spending months trying to catch salmon (and failing) on salmon lures like flying `c's and tobys, I knew I had to change things up to be in with a chance on the last trip of the season. I went for a more finesse approach using size 3 spinners (rather than the normal size 1 or 2 I use for trout fishing), let's see how it goes!

I have to say in terms of nature's beauty wild brown trout really are one of the most stunning in colour because they catch the light and display golds n greens you won't see on any other wild fish.
I agree, nothing out there beats them in my opinion! There are some American native species that come close though

Way back when I was a young lad , I caught the first salmon of the season . Was at a place called mennock foot lodge in Sanquhar . got my name in the trout and salmon magazine. River Nith .

Thanks mate! No there aren't any pike at all, i've seen a very small perch once though. Maybe from a neighbouring lake after a flood!

Just amazing. I mean every trout was a beauty, but the big female and male were just absolute stunners. Ended my season last week with 6 crazy looking rainbows. Tight lines and much love buddy 🥰
Thanks for watching! Out of interest, how do you know which one is male and female? The size of the mouth?
@@adventurefishinguk well the second one is for sure a male because of the hook on the underside of the mouth. that´s typical when trout reach a certain size or age. the first one COULD be a male but at this size i really doubt it.

Wow that second trout was a stonker!!!! I haven't caught one close to that in about 12 years, it was really long aswell so a can see why you weren't sure what it was until the net.
Also have to say that chicken sandwich 🥪 was destiny m8.. look where it got you and I'm glad you do it as a part time job as your videos are always entertaining and you fish some absolutely stunning locations.

@AdventureFishingUK Always! Unless you're my mate Andy 😅 Jammy Andy! I landed a 27.5lb hen salmon for him October 2000 on the lower Teifi downstream of Cenarth. Beast of a fish. This was the week after pulling a 6lb sewin out of a low pool on a flying C. I caught nothing both weeks 🤣🤣

I caught a 3lb brown trout in my local river on a 6ft 3/4 fly rod on a dry fly absolutely stunning fish for the size of river which was no big river

Try some Toby spoons they work a charm my first ever time out fishing for salmon I used a flying c spinner about my 5th cast and a 10 pound salmon smashed my lure, flying c spinners and Toby spoons work a charm
Yeah those are what I’d been using most of the season with no luck unfortunately! Been a tough year for my salmon fishing, at least I had one by mistake in spring!

George that big trout was a seatrout that had been in the river for a good while
The thought did cross my mind, but it also had very vibrant red spots which I believe don’t usually come back like the colour does! Although I could be wrong
@@adventurefishinguk Seatrout and brown trout are EXACTLY the same species, Salmo Trutta, only for some reason some decide to chance their hand in the sea. When they return to fresh water and stay for a long spell, their original characteristics often return, red spots and all

@@adventurefishinguk sorry ive been unclear George, what I mean is the fish left the sea to enter the river to spawn and has remained in the river for a long time, as often happens for instance during periods of low water. Should it decide to return to sea it will once again develop its silvery hue

Thanks mate! This is a club unfortunately with no day tickets, plenty of places with day tickets if you know where to look! Lots of google research and a bit of turning up and looking for signs should point you in the right direction 👍

It happened again on a smaller scale, same place apparently. EA haven't given any updates and I don't think anything has been done about it. Not the news I want to be giving out but unfortunately it feels like the system has some big issues
Everyone uses vibrex lures in Alaska where I'm from for salmon they work much better than meps for salmon
