  • "I want to be saved, but I just don't think I have enough desire to be saved." In her broken words and in the sobs, I could pick up, "Pastor, what am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to ask God for more desire?" You know, I got off the phone with her and I began to think about conversations that I have had with some of you, some of the people that are visiting this church, some of the people that have been visiting the Bible study...

I think some people can be saved by just listening to the gospel. But hard hearted people like my self were saved when I was broken down completely by God when I was 35 2yrs back. He sent a situation in my life where I was heart broken became weak I just completely fell at Jesus feet. He knows our weakness and if he wants to save us he will do it and I'm so glad he did or I'd be lost my whole life. Thank you Jesus. Thats when my eyes opened to the gospel the seriousness of the gospel the laws of God which I took for granted all my life. Depending on him. Fearing him. Faith in him.

I think of that verse where it says I will in no wise cast away. I've had to put my thoughts and emotions to one side and just trust in Christ's words . Come to me all who are weary... This verse keeps popping up. The devil and my own thoughts continuously shouting at me. Through it, I simply need to take Christ at his word. For it is by grace that ye are saved, through faith, but this not of yourselves it is the gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9. The Faith needed to believe, confess and repent. Is a gift of God Himself. Confession is not a prayer of emotion, a proclamation from anyone, or even a personal testimony from accomplishment. It is a legally binding covenant with God that agrees fully with who God says Christ truly is and commits their life and living to that truth. Confess in Romans 10:9 is the Greek word Homologeõ- meaning "Same Word " as that of God.

I was touched by the message, but I still have some questioning remainings.
I understand what Tim says. But what about someone who commited apostasy ? Because I did. I won't detail my life, but I can tell you I'm 99% sur I'm part of those spoken in Hebrews 6 4-6, I did exactly the same thing than them. Can ANYONE who wants to follow Jesus really can ? Even if I apostasied ? Because I feel like I really tried to follow Jesus and put my faith in Him, regardless of what there's inside of me. But even if I do that, I always end up realising that there's a part of me who still want my sins. Even if they destroyed me. I want to change, but it seems that I just can't. I don't sin but there's always this part of me that wants to, I always end up feeling the pull of the world . Even if I put my trust in Jesus. That sucks
Maybe I don't really trust ? Or maybe I'm not patient enough ? Because whenever I feel that pull, that makes me doubt my salvation, and the genuineness. It's not just that I'm tempted by a particular sin. It's that there's a part of me that just want to do whatever it wants. I don't want to be like that. What would you say to someone like me ? I don't think it's normal to for a so-called child of God to still be attracted by the world...

What we are called to do is run to Jesus. We fall, we run to Jesus, we sin, we run to Jesus, we doubt, we run to Jesus. Jesus is our hope, our salvation, we have to always repent and turn to him. Every day of ours lives. Hebrew 6 ist not talking about believers who sin or doubt, but about people who never were saved in the first place and went away from a place of religiosity or just were churchgoers without real saving faith.
You fall, you go to Christ, like Tim said in the video, the enemy wants you to look at yourself but we are called to run to Christ and not look at our failure and pity ourselves. It is in fact a battle with sin. The flesh and the spirit are opposite so that we can’t do what we want to do.
Read Hebrew 12. We have to resist sin . We don’t have to grow weary.

@@feder1ca1991 but the thing is that I've never been a christian. I thought I was at the time, but I wasn't. I just had a kind of sentimental experience. I had an enthusiasm over God. But in my heart I wasn't basing my salvation on Jesus ONLY. I was closed to being saved, and I thought I was, but I wasnt. And after a year I started to go back to the world little by little.
Today I realise my mistake and I really want to give my life to God. According to Tim's message, I just have to follow Jesus, and as long as someone (including me) does that, they can be sure they are saved. However, in my case I can get the idea that I apostasied and therefore I am lost forever, but on the other hand I want to follow Jesus... so it's confusing.

@@simonvallee718 all sins can be forgiven but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, and that is another story.
Even if you thought to be saved and you realised you were not, you repent and trust on Jesus for your justification knowing that you would never be able to obtain salvation for your own actions. Repent is the massage. Repent of your sins and believe that only Jesus can cleans you of your sins. No work, no self strength, nothing.
Once Sproul said, before the change of the action what we see in a person that was really regenerated is a change of affection, he hates what once loved and even if he still loves some things that he should hate, he grieve the fact that he love the thing that god hates. Hi there, Simon,
The Apostle Paul had the same problems and he talks about this issue in the Bible -- telling us that he has/had the same problems. If you go to Romans Chapter 7 and read the whole chapter (it is short) you will see how the Apostle Paul describes his agony regarding the way he feels. Then he tells you about Christ, and how Christ causes him to overcome the same things you are going through. He cries out at the end of the chapter: "Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin."
When you have finished reading Romans Chapter 7 then go right into Romans Chapter 8 and find out how secure you are in your Saviour, Christ Jesus despite your desires and need to sin.
      I hope this helps
      Kind regards.
      Liz. (^_^)

This messge is for Noah. I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.
I really want to respond to what you'd asked.
I was unable to find your name to reply directly to you, so I hope you get the this.
Yes, to answer simply, i think/believe that the Gospel has been tainted, watered down, in such a way that it's essence - the foundation from which it was built upon - has been lost.
The Gospel is Not about what WE DO FOR God, but rather what HE HAS DONE FOR US.
There are a great many who do preach this message....HOWEVER....it quickly becomes about what we do or can do or should be doing for Him.
What ends up happening, is that human performance, trying to measure up, all in an effort to MAKE OURSELVES ACCEPTABLE, rather than living from the place that We already ARE ACCEPTED.
    It is very subtle.
As I stated in a previous comment, this is why so many are suffering, confused, feeling lost, and dont know/understand why they can't be okay.
All the 'spiritual disciplines' have their place and are good and fine and useful.
When they cease to be such, is when these practices and how well WE ARE DOING/PERFORMING THEM becomes the focal point.
If we aren't deeply - and i mean deeply in a way that is most intimate - connected and in touch with, living FROM a place of constant conscious communion of Father's Love FOR US - we will (and you can bank on it) get caught and stay trapped in a cycle of religious scrupulosity.
At this point, the True Gospel message of what God did first in coming to Us, is lost.
Our obedience, etc, stems not from what we do for God, but rather what he first did For US.
So when we slip or fall into the trap, we need to refocus - away from our performance and efforts to measure - no matter what form that takes or looks like - reorienting ourselves to Him & what He Has Done For Us.
When this becomes clearer into view - deep within ourselves - only then can we live from a place of loving Him, and not from a place of trying to earn his love, acceptance, etc.
Check out Mark DeJesus - His message titled 'Learning to Receive God's Love', AND he has a ton of information that is Gospel centered and offers so many people the freedom from the performance trap that so many have gotten caught up and stuck in....myself included.

If you go and read Romans 4, and then James 4 it would seem Paul and James contradict each other, but this is not the case. They are directly addressing specific issues. • @se6135
      @se6135 Před 2 měsíci

@illbehonest regarding Romans 4 and James 4, I find it ironic that although we say that good works don't add or maintain to your justification, you still need to keep making them in order to be sure that you have a justifying faith, and once you start failing a week, month or maybe even a year , you once again come to doubt your salvation, hence one could never truly have assurance of salvation. I listened to the whole video, and it's a very accurate description of my situation, although Tim's other videos on repentance seem to fit my situation as well. Therefore, I'm very confused as to what I should do. I did however realise through this video that I also haven't been sincere in my calling upon the Lord, and that there are certain sins and idols in my life, so I prayed about it, trying to be as honest as possible, while keeping in mind that I can't offer anything and that I can't make anything in my heart, so basically just like Tim always says in his videos, I tried to let go and let God do the saving, if I'm a hypocrite or a false convert, there's nothing I can do. God hasn't saved me, and He probably decided not to answer my prayer, I believe He doesn't want anything to do with me anymore. I was baptised in a pentecostal church, and I still go to church ( baptist). However, it's starting to become more and more burdensome. The only thing that is ironic to me is that my conscience somehow won't let me forget it all about Christ, about faith, repentance, etc.

So people who claim they aren't Christian, but that they follow Christ, are neither consistent nor biblical. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Yes, there are a lot of false Christians out there. But the problem isn't Christianity, it's the false Christians. There are plenty of Christ exalting churches where God's Word is both taught and practiced. And we are commanded in Hebrews not to break fellowship with other believers. You can no more leave Christianity and find God than you can leave the Bible and find truth.

But the moment we are sealed and born again we are just like babies and it takes time to grow up into a person who knows how to walk out their faith and produce good fruit.
When my husband got saved, not much happened at first. I told Him all he had to do was ask and He would be born again. It took about a year before He really began to feel like he was being changed, but God was working in his heart all along, even though he was somewhat unaware of it at first he is very different today.

The issue that Pastor brings out is so real. The Gospel is the Power of God that brings about salvation, and that salvation may only be found in Christ Jesus. We are not saved by works, and "repenting enough" is a work of man. We are saved by faith alone. Faith is not of us. It is of God. In fact, faith is the by-product of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Faith is increased by the Presence of God in you increasing. When we believe the Christ of the gospel, then the Holy Spirit gives us faith.

My point is that when we ask Jesus to be our Lord, we are bought with a price and we do not own ourselves, we belong to Him. He is going to change us in His own way and in His own time. We can do our best to be obedient and to learn His word, but ultimately He is the one who does the work in us. Our own effort could never be enough. Let go and Let God do the work in you.

Right on...the Holy Spirit bears witness with us that we are indeed legitimate children of God (as its written). Without that witness I don't see any reason to think anyone is saved. Its about relationship with God. Jesus said that eternal life is to know Him (John 17: 3)

23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

      Hi there,
I think you need to go and read my comment again. In fact, I will just post the relavent part here for you. I said the following:
"TRUE Christians are those who are resting in the FINISHED work of Christ on the cross, by whch we are saved. The regenerating work of trhe Holy Spirit is the effect of that work and is called Sanctification. It is a distinct SEPARATE work of God.
We are saved by what Christ did FOR US on the cross, NOT by what the Holy Spirit does IN US."
      That is what I said.
      I hope that helps.
      Kind regards.
      Liz.

@Aaron637 There are only 2. Faith or works. Grace or merit. A gift or wages (God being in debt to us). These are the straight forward arguments of Paul in romans. Those who side with works as being the basis of justification have a different gospel. Or if they say it is both faith and works that justify…it is a contridiction - for it is a dichotomy. black or white, there is no grey. Its either a gift or something earned. thats Gods motive in salvation is his glory, showing his goodness!

Carnal mind is at emnity against God. (romans 8:7) it does not want to turn to God and it can`t. Look at this verse in its context and you will find that man who is born in sin, is INCAPABLE of doing good, and it will never be able to unless He is born of the Holy Spirit. "And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." (John 5:40) We were dead in our transgressions and sins and never out of our sinful nature could we ever haven gone to God.

@Aaron637 ...Choose to be born the first time. I never asked to be born, and I didn't ask to be born again....God worked soveriegnly and graciously by His Spirit. This new birth gives both Faith in Christ and repentance (a change of mind regarding sin). That said we still have the flesh (Rom 7) and at times we desire bad things still...for we have a physical body/mind and are tempted. But it is simply faith in Jesus, that He died to take our sins on Him and give us His righteousness....

You are right it is not because we state we have faith that we are saved. Anybody can have faith - faith in what?
Do you know how we get saved? Do you know what the Gospel is? You say it is good news for mankind, but what is that good news?
The Bible says we are not saved by good works, in fact we are told that our good works are like filthy rags! So, if we are not saved by good works, what does James 2:19 mean to you?

21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'

You have put the cart before the horse. You are a man of passion Tim Conway, so you MUST preach of the SUSTITUTIONARY life Christ lived and His SUBSTITUTIONARY death, burial and resurrection and that WORK OF CHRIST is EFFICATIOUS and is IMPUTED to His sheep. He made PROPITIATION for His sheep! Salvation is of the LORD. We are cleansed and made righteous by CHRIST'S finished work on the cross and HIS ressurection in which we have HOPE. Where is the Gospel?

This is a sad vid. People are confused. Its simple...Romans teaches it pretty plainly. If you desire to be saved you can be...for Christ will by no means cast anyone out. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone. Grace because those who have a desire for salvation/desire of Christ/conviction of sin are those that have been born again by the Spirit of God (John 3). The new birth is nothing we do to ourselves, it is God alone who regenerates a person. Like we dont...

  • @Afrikitty

@TheFeroxConspiratio Yes, we are saved by faith, but is not faith that saves us. Faith is the instrument used by God whereby we believe the Gospel and it is a passive faith. It is the OBJECT of our faith that saves us and that object is Jesus Christ and Him crucified and raised. If you go to my channel and look in my profile section, you will see the Gospel proclaimed there. Let me know when you have read it and come back to me. I will tell you more. :-)

The gospel is plainly articulated in Romans. Plainly. "Whoever confesses with their mouth and believe with their heart that Jesus was raised from the dead will be saved." So if your trusting soely in what Jesus has done for us...that is die for us, take our sin and bear our punnishment as Isaiah promised....you will be saved. As it is written "For whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame". Believe and be saved. Simple. Study Romans 3 and 4. Faith alone in Christ alone!

@Aaron637 Dont become a galation and a legalist thinking works can merit your salvation. No amount of obedience can undo our past wrong. - nor religious acts, nor emotions. If it is going to be a gift it must be by faith alone....otherwise it is not a gift it is wages, this is what Paul argues. And God is no mans debtor. If we are going to be saved by grace, it is by faith alone. (Unless you can offer an utterly flawless life, perfect in every respect under divine scrutiny...no one can.)

John 6:44; "no one can come to me unless the Father who has sent me draws him." nothing can save us but for God`s Holy Spirit to move upon our hearts. and you are saying that God has not forseen it? God has not planned it beforehand all that is to happen? who is man to God? man`s will itself is corruped and he will ONLY choose God when God`s holy Spirit moves upon him. If someone like in the case of this video desires to know God, the Spirit has obviously already moved, and drawn him to God.

John 1:John’s Witness: The True Light 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
John 14:Jesus Promises Another Helper 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
John 16:The Work of the Holy Spirit 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
1 John 2: Let Truth Abide in You 26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
1 John 3:The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
Galatians 6:Be Generous and Do Good
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
Ephesians1:Redemption in Christ 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
      Colossians 3:Character of the New Man 12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
2 Timothy 2:Be Strong in Grace 10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
2 Thessalonians 2: Stand Fast 13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,

    @silverwolfalpha,
I do not mean to belittle you - I ask that you read Romans 8:28 again please, and tell me where it says that man is able to respond to God?
Ephesians 2:1 says "You were DEAD in your trespass and sins. "Titus 3:4-5 says that we are washed and regenerated BY THE HOLY SPIRIT because of the work done BY CHRIST on the cross.
Saying that God's omniscience is dependant on our response to Him is taking away from HIS Omnipotence, which says the HE ALONE is all powerful to save.
