    If you're watching this for school, don't forget black athletes were not permitted by FDR to visit the president with the other Olympians and his suspension came after he refused to remain on tour across Europe without compensation.
    Even after setting 3 world records for his college in 45 minutes, he wasn't allowed to sleep in the same dorm as his teammates. His name is used as a beacon, but in reality he was taken advantage of and dismissed in his lifetime.

    Giving the middle finger to the nazis like he did, the Jesse Owens award shouldn’t be something given out so frivolously on an annual basis. Just my opinion.
