For this video we will be checking out the wireless charging mod for the PSP 1000! This is a complicated mod to install but it works well and looks clean! Check out the reddit post for the guide on how to install it!

Instead of all this, take a Qi module (5v, 1A or 2A) and solder it directly on the charging port. It will work.
Like this you don't need to remove the UMD driver to add big battery (except if you want to) and you will have it as stock as possible.
I've never understood why it's called wireless charging... should have been called contact charging or something like that
No "wire" between the devices which is plain english.. But contact charging makes sense, guess marketing wizards thought that sounded bleh
Wireless charging sells much easier than contact charging sadly :( but I like it!
because it's wireless....with a bigger transmitter (wattage) you can achieve charge in bigger distance.

@@og_mante5138 as I said, no wire between the devices that are charging. Of course theres a wire to the pad because power without wires is not available widespread yet and wont be for a while
Even though you sacrifice the UMD drive you can make up for it with an sd card (and psp adapter) that has a lot of storage! This is really dope!!
And with a micro sd adapter you.can go bigger, 128gb!

On the psp subreddit, people replace the UMDs with a second battery to make it last 6+ hours

Maybe he used a higher wattage output wireless pad or it could be the metal from around the umd drive interfering with the wireless charging .

Surely if you soildered the wireless pad to the positive and negative on charging port/attached cable , that would just work with original battery?
Your issue is that the metal cage of the UMD drive in the PSP is preventing the wireless charger from working ( shorting it in a sense) From my understanding there can be no metal in the way. Also aftermarket shells are extremely thinner and cheaper then OEM PSP housings. That also may have something to do with it @Tech James

I'm trying to play online with a real PSP model 2000 with CFW 6.60 PRO-C2 and an Android device running PPSSPP, but I'm not getting success. I've tried several tutorials but it didn't help.

i believe he used a thinner psp case or sanded down where transmitter sits just like wireless charging on a phone or even a more powerful wireless charging transmitter.

Any li-ion battery should work. Just find what fits inside of UMD drive space and wire it to the board inside of psp battery (i took apart Chinese 3000 ma\h one). 👍
I'm well aware that this video is 3 years old, but seeing that freaking Qi phone adapter (the part that plugs into the phone) scares me. i bought mine last year to see if i can use it to wirelessly charge my old phone.. i didnt even have that thing 2 days and it was fried. It didn't just simply quit working, oh no... it actually fried. As in it had freaking burn marks. Damn near caught my phone on fire
I think the wireless didn't work because of the metal bit in the umd drive cover, maybe it absorbed the magnetic wave thingys instead of going into the qi charger receiver

I have a US PSP with a failed UMD drive. Also, I think you have the charging pad facing the wrong way because the side the pad would sit with the phone in the case.

This is not worth the hassle, considering the damage done and the fact that wireless charging is slow anyway ...
Not really, PSP's battery is 1800mAh (psp 1000 in this case) all you need is a 5v 2A Qi module and you are done...oh and a good transmitter obviously
The UMD drive needs to have the metal cage removed or the induction can't function.

Maybe he used an aftermarket psp housing it would be a lot thinner?

Their psp is a 3000 btw (you can see on the buttons and where the Sony logo is placed)
Tech James this damage my hardware bad since I have a PSP 1000 Rooter and the CP and FPS was ruined please help me fix my PSP. Also if I didn't have the old PSP 1000 would it work?
Dude reset the graphics card and restart it and change your Rooter to 30Drake and 38X45 and reset back it takes all lag of the rooter. The hardware should need to take time take it out. Don't burn your house lol. This will also. work if you didn't have it on so its you fault don't blame James.
@@redtim5837 ok ill do it and I won't blame James. Then FINALLY!!! do the wireless charger also my hardware is 32X45 Resulation max so I can just reset my DPS and thats all I have to do so its must for faster and no FPS, Graphics drops at all.
the samsung gal s2 has built in coil for wirless charging build in to it removable battery
also try a sell case with no metal rind on back get the ebay cheap clear case i just finished mine in clear pink
Anyone seen those cheap cables psp to usb power cord? You can plug it to a power bank. Better then this, you can get more battery when playing without the ac adapter

You need a fake psp batt, take out the board and remove the lil batt then solder the big 3000mah 3.7v to the board and attach it. I have yet to test a tp4056 module on a psp, but the whole wireless thing is just a sticker you add to the citcuit

doing this is pretty stupid, dangerous, and a waste of time. Wireless charging is slow, and will throttle the CPU. Not only that, but the PSP battery can explode with this method. Also, a tip: Use an L-shaped AC Adapter.
