- My earlier video was "Timing belt change - Alfa Romeo 166 (156) 2.0 TS 16v NO SPECIAL TOOLS NEEDED!"
This time I open also TIMING VARIATOR and I found the problem with exhaust timing when not using the traditional method. MUST TO SEE.

Great detail 🤌

Thank you so much
Is exhaust cam wheel loose? It hase hall sensor for ignition timing. But if it moves independently from cam that run the timing out of place
I am about to buy the camshaft locks for 2.0TS engine, but the shop shows the purple 11/12 blocks for 1.4/1.6 TS engine and a light blue M1/M2 for the 1.8/2.0 TS engine. Looking at this video, I am confused.
Yes, I noticed that too. Oops.
Why did your cam pulley paint marks not line up ?
Tem a referência de todo o material?
Thank you for the video. My mechanic says I have to replace the variator unit, it cannot be rebuilt with the kit. Is this true or is it because he does not know how to do it? After the rings and bearings were done it came back sounding like a diesel and he says its the variator unit.
Sorry for the late answer. Mine was ok and I think that only way it doesn't work correctly is some impurities inside. That main spring inside can't loose it's tension so much.
Hello. What is that high noise/sound at 20:06 - 20:10? Engine sounds different with second belt than in first start. I wonder where it's from. My 1.6 ts sounds the same.
Balance shafts. Mitsubishis make same noise.
@@nakoma5 thx
it is forbidden to use the camshaft locks as a stop when tightening! thread too weak!
Good point!
Not good, because the pulley is still whinning sound and the variator is making diesel noise.
