How did Professor Pac of all characters survive the Pac Purge? It's kinda baffling
similarly to chomp chomp, i think it's because his design from PMW is just different enough from the midway design that he only needed a name change (though "professor pac" is really not all that different from "professor pac-man" so idk)
This game sounds like what would happen if you took a crap into an assembler then released it.
Everything about this game utterly baffles me. Seriously, Who the hell thought this was a good idea? Aside from the fact that it has little to nothing to do with Pac-Man, the game as a whole is extremely repetitive and sucks at being a quiz game. It’s no wonder that this is the game that crossed the line and led to Namco terminating their license with Bally Midway. If you really think about it, it’s sort of terrifying. If it wasn’t for Namco getting sick of their shit, Midway could’ve likely killed the franchise as a whole making stuff like this.

i knew this game existed but not until today did i know how absurd it was with it's sunset game over screen and it's epileptic flashing colors and it's offbrand-looking sprites. this game honestly feels like something that would be in a cheap youtube horror arg which is like "check out this weird prototype video game!!! ( it's also cursed by demons :D )" except its not a prototype, its a finished product that they released.
but hey, if nothing else i can appreciate how this game brought us the lovely character of professor pac-man.

This is easily the strangest Pac-Man game I’ve ever seen, especially since it’s supposed to be for arcades. If this was an slower paced and easier edutainment tool for children n something like Windows 95 then it would make a *little* more sense considering even Mario did the same thing despite Nintendo being very strict and stingy about PC games in general, but this is supposed to be in a cabinet and all questions you can only answer in such a small amount of time, with not all of the questions even being right or too vague.
I know this shouldn’t be something to ask, but who even *wants* an educational Pac-Man or Mario game? All of their their games are known for being fast paced and strategic, not slow and thought provoking. It’s an entirely different field. Say what you want about Pac-Baby, but at least that game has a clear idea on what it’s trying to be. I’m sorry, but this game is just worse to me than even that, because outside of just being weird and something to talk about that’s dumb, there’s just no replay value for this whatsoever even for a quiz game without the Pac-Man theming unless you are sadistic to yourself and want to do largely pointless records or something. It’s no wonder why this game is so rare even with the brand slapped onto it. Pac-Baby has a good gimmick, Professor Pac-Man has a good *nothing…*

yep! really enjoyed it too, but i'm waiting until it gets a full release later down the line to give it its own video (and even then i'll probably lump ToreeNET in with it)

I played Professor Pac-Man only twice and it just didn't interested me. If I wanted to learn math, I would just learn from an old school book and not this game.
Honestly the only good thing this game brought was the character of Professor Pac Man, i like him alot lol

As much as I like the character: Professor Pac-Man, this game is undoubtedly absolute SHIT. Like, who tf wants to play a quiz game in an arcade? Aren’t arcades supposed to be non-educational?
arcade quiz games are actually very popular, especially in bars. because of that, they're typically geared more towards adults, but the bar version of professor pac-man never came out, so all we have is this weird kids' version.
@@ahbeef like, why didn’t they first do the bar version first, or god forbid, put this version in bars, instead of arcades?
to be honest, i'm not entirely sure how they handled the distribution of the game since only a few hundred cabs ever went out, and most of them were returned to the manufacturer because the game was so unpopular, so it's possible that it was sent to bars in some cases, but with the caveat of the rom being the kids' version. either way i honestly don't think there was any saving this game. the poor question design and awful presentation indicate the team behind this game either had nowhere near enough development time or had no good ideas. either way it was pretty much doomed from the start
