Had to watch about six times but i finally got it! Thank goodness for common sense because you moved quick and left me with a lot of questions but it all worked out and i have my new 6 cup turner with switches. Thank you!
I am glad you were able to power through and get your tumbler turner. Post pictures up on Instagram and please tag me @jkcanvas. AWESOMENESS
Hey boss i know this is an old video but you just helped me out tremendously!! great video
Awesome. Glad this helped out.
Great video, very comprehensive. Anyone should be able to follow it
thank you for the feedback.
I like that you take time to explain simple and slow. Keep up great work it was my 1st time
I'm not good at doing electrical work but with your video I can do the job, thanks👍🏼
John Lopez if you run into issues hit me up on Instagram @jkcanvas. Send me a DM with pictures. I will help out as much as possible.
Looks like a lot of patience that went along with this project.. See. you on the next one!
View to a grill a lot of mental work too. Having to think through the process. It was fun
Found this video after watching the band-saw box vid. thinking I could use this idea for a revolving stand/stands for displaying my turned pens ,,Thank you , keep safe , Regards Alf
hanks for stopping by. The same wiring concept can be used. Just keep in mind these motors are omni directional, meaning they will turn either direction when power is apply. One time it may turn to the right for a 3 or four cycles then the direction will flip the next time power is applied.
Great informational video!!! Subbing souly on this video thanks for the help, the wife's gonna be a happy camper!!
preston wilder thank you for the sub. If you run into issues please shoot me an email canvas@jkcanvas.net or instagram @jkcanvas. The write up is on my website www.jkcanvas.net under projects.
I’m trying to build a multi cup tumbler turner for my wife. This video is very helpful. It still looks difficult. Lol
timothy Odom check www.jkcanvas.net under the projects page and you will find written directions.
timothy Odom it is really not that hard.
no offense to JK but watch Sandys organize chaos turner build videos. Way easier and less complicated honestly.
I am building almost the same thing. It has a master switch and a switch for each arm. The wife wants to control each individually. I am using PVC quick connects so she doesn't have to screw on the pipe the cup is on to the pipe on the turner. It costs a little more but its a lot easier than having to twist the pipe on and off. I am building her 2 turners. One is a single she will do her work on. Then she'll move them to the 5 arm turner to set. She sells the tumblers so I am making a 10 arm turner. It will include trays to catch the excess glitter. I built a little bottle jig to make it easier to dump the excess glitter back into the bottle without it moving. I think she will be happy with it. You know what they say...
Gonna try, thanks!
Melissa Rodriguez good deal and please let me know how I can assist. Send an email with pictures to cancas@jkcanvas.net or direct message on Instagram @jkcanvas.
I fell in love with that so clearly able to follow and understand are your turn let’s Motorized motors that you can wire a controlled board of A master switch and the 3 way toggle switch would control the motor rotation direction clockwise or counter clockwise? Be curious how would you wire up say 15 motorized switch panel for operating a winch system for a home theater. What’s the lift ability
Great basic video. Only thing I would have added is to tell people to make sure to choose the proper amp rating on the switches they buy. Those toggles come in many different ratings and all look damn near identical. The ending was hilarious...... uh oh 😝
Did not think about mentioning this, however there are links in the description of parts used.
Great video Will

I just got my motors in today and I'm on my way to go get lumber what Size of material did you recommend I like that 6 turntable and that's what I got and that's what I wanna build So my question is what was the dimensions of the sideplates the top in front plates and what size holes did you draw for the motors
Just saw this. I used 3/4 in the video and made one out of 1/2. Both will work
You don't by any chance have a lay out or drawing of a box like with the dimensions and all
@@richardekloff2907 send me an email canvas@jkcanvas.net and I will send you a write up I have.

Thank you very much for this video! Quick question though, I am looking on Amazon for a power cord to use but there are many to choose from. What am I looking for?
I use these.

great video. how would you wire a switch for clockwise and counterclockwise motor
Unfortunately that is not possible with only two wires. I believe that is just how the motors are designed
Thanks for the video I’m so new at this I’ve built the turner and you did show how to wire the one motor however for those of us that are lost how do you connect then all together? I’m not using the boards and I’m only using a 2 prong cord on an 8 cup turner.
Send an email to canvas@jkcanvas.net and I will give you a detailed write up with pictures on how to wire up multiple motors.
Thank you I will do that right away
You can use any color wire you like dont have to be black and white could be red and blue and green or orange and yellow
Antonio Claudio Michael i get what ur saying, it’s all copper but best to stick with the code green ground, white neutral, and any other color other than those 2 can be power. 👍🏼
@@BradsWorkbench yeah Brad but natural isnt always white green is defenitly known as a common ground but some times white is ground sometimes blue is ground and red is hot and purple is natural my point is you can use any color you want for ground any color you want for hot wire and any color you want for neutral it's just a color shealth I use orange alot for hot when it comes to certain automotive things most common would be red for hot black for neutral and green for ground but automotive battery connections is red and black so it's always up to the installer what color is used for what task
Antonio Claudio Michael I’m not gonna argue. I guess the NEC is just suggestions. But when the hell did DC power get a neutral?
@@BradsWorkbench I'm not refering to industrial
@@BradsWorkbench one ceiling fans use black as a neutral some pcm and ecm on vehicle black is neutral wiring is subject to the person wiring if your talking about industrial applications then there is a standard color combination but will is not doing an industrial project in the video
great video thanks for sharing. Need to make one for the wife. Doing a 6 turner cup for the wife. Was curious, what did you use for a power cord?
haha re-watching and heard you say it was a garbage disposal cord
Kevin Loomis I like using the garbage disposal cord because it is a three prong with a ground and inexpensive.
What a killer hat in the intro
How are you getting a good crimp on the motor blue wires with the blue butt connectors? The wire is so small I can't even crimp with the red connectors.
I strip a little more and then double over the ends to add a little more to crimp.
@@JkCanvas that is what I ended up doing, but I still had to use a red blade connector to a blue key connector in order to transition between the two sizes.
@@jesseeemerick1833 as long as it works it is good.
Question. I’m making an 11 cup turner. But my terminals are 6 slot. I have two sets of three 6 slot terminals. How do I make it so I use one plug. Or do I have to use 2 unless I get a bigger terminal? Thanks.
Run a single jumper wire to the other terminal block. A jumper wire is like the single power wire coming from the plug. On the side you have the wire from the plug run a single wire to your other block. Now you have power to both blocks and using one plug. The jumper is like an extension cord.
Jk Canvas I am doing a 12 turner. I have twelve terminals/screws on each board. But I'll have 13 wires, one for the power chord. Can I have the black from power chord and the 12th from the switches and motors, attached to the same screw?
We found your video while trying to make my 6 cup turner. You did yours the exact way we were trying. We only have 1 motor hooked up, but it keeps tripping the outlet. Any idea what we did wrong? Why did you add the black to the blue cord from the motor? Wa that needed our just to give extra length? Your help is so greatly appreciated.
Amanda Stedman sounds like you have a wire crossed. 😁😁😁. One of the blue wires goes to the switch. The main power (black) supply wire goes to switch. The ground (green) goes to the switch. The last blue wire goes to the neutral (white) wire from the main power. Please send me a picture to canvas@jkcanvas.net or via Instagram DM @jkcanvas and will be able to talk you through the wiring of the first motor. 👍🏻.
Is it possible to set these up with switches to select whick way they are turning? Or do they auto-switch every time they are power cycled?
They turn switch direction when they want too.
I like it
Awesome POSSUM day!!!
Where can I get individual motors ???
Kenneth Earl Wigglesworth an Amazon Link is in the description.
When using a standard single pole light switch to turn the motor on and off, how do you wire that in?
Using an open terminal secure one blue wire to the top black screw. Secure the power wire to the bottom black screw.
Does each motor need its own terminal?
Yes
@@JkCanvas thanks for answering so quickly because I’m trying to connect it now. So I have 5 black terminals. So I need to go buy another one because I have five motors? To have the red one?
@@GulfCoastArtbyJenny All 5 motors goes to the block the. On the opposite side of the block put the bar and in one spot the white or neutral wire from your power source. The other blue wire from
The motor goes to the silver leg of your switch. Middle leg of your switch is the ground and the brass leg is for your power in. Send me some pictures of what you are working on to canvas@jkcanvas.net. It will help me guide you in the right direction.
Question... Are you only running one ground wire? You don't have to run one from each motor correct? I am planning on watching again after I build my turner and before I wire. I was thinking about the other motors and how you said it is the same for each but I am If I am remembering correctly one end of the green you made went on the green from the cord and the other end went on the terminal board. Am I correct in assuming that when I am done that the three terminals will have a white on one, a black on one and a green on one and then on each corresponding side you would have 6 black, or 6 white or 1 green? I hope this makes sense. Thanks for the video. I watched another video to get an idea how I wanted to build mine (but I LOVE the way you have your motors slid down and then through the hole, so I may have to modify now lol) but while it made some sense when he talked about the wiring it was not super clear. He did not use the terminals so I am still deciding if I want to go that route or not. Thanks again.
I JUST had the duh, aaaha moment. One half of a green will connect to the switch, the other half to the terminal so there will be on green on one side 6 on the other, just like the red and the black!!! I Love when I answer my own questions!! lol Correct me if I am wrong though, please.
yes only one ground wire. The motors do not have a ground wire. Each motor has a power and neutral wire. The ground is for the switches only, and that is for the rocker style switches. If you are using a light switch then you will not need a ground. if you run into problems send me an email canvas@jkcanvas.net or Instagram message @jkcanvas and will be able to help better. I like Instagram messages because it is as close to texting with out actually texting.
Do you have to use a 3 prong switch I have 2 prong with no ground
Vincent Clayton send me an email canvas@jkcanvas.net.
I’m going to attempt this tonight. Lol. Can you show me how you put the light switches in the box? Do you use a router to get perfect little spaces? Thank you so much! This is so helpful!
If you are referring to the smaller rocker switches I used a 1/2 drill bit at both ends and a chisel to clean up the sides. If you are referring the big house switches I drilled holes in the opposite corners and used a jig saw. Hope that helps. If you run into problems you can instant message me on Instagram @jkcanvas or email me at canvas@jkcanvas.net.
Cheers
I was finding you on Instagram to leave a message. But you are QUICK!! Also, where on the Turner are you PLACING your switches? 🙏🏽
The SimplySpoiled I put them on the lid offset to one side of the motor. That keeps the wires away from the PVC.
Unh. I spent tonight wiring it all up. And the moment of truth arrived and not one worked.
Now... I’m pretty sure I didn’t get the right kind of colored wire. It’s 14 gauge but it was a single wire not multi strands like the turner wires.
Can I rig this without using the grounding wire? I saw someone who did with the small round LED switch.
I didn’t think the wire would make that much of a difference and it was too late to go to the store. :(
@@thesimplyspoiled1 Send me an email with pictures to canvas@jkcanvas.net and we will get you going in the right direction.
Nice video. Did you use ccw/cw motors?
What are the little key looking terminals called? You said you weren't sure and i don't see them listed. Also, what guage? The other ones were blue, but those looked red.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the my video.
In your video your using only (1) switch those that (1) switch ON ALL (6) MOTOR'S AT THE SAME TIME?
Cheryl Leopoldino no ma’am. One switch per motor. If you are on Instagram send me a DM @jkcanvas
how are you attching them small shafts to the pvc ? THats what I don't get
drilled the center of the nylon bushing out with a 9/32 drill bit which allows for a friction fit.
The video was nice, But I think you did another video that showed the same wiring that was much better (Less Detailed) but showed using and Mounting (most important) the switches to the wall of the cabinet after wiring. In fact that video used a standard single gang light switch. Thanks for all you effort and enthusiasm in creating these wonderful tutorials.
I have made plenty of projects in by sop, but never though to take the time to try can video them. You can imaging editing out all the cursing that comes along with the projects. (Adirondeck Chairs, Kids Toys, Shelving, etc..) And of course the "Honey look at this, Can you make it?" projects. LOL I swear, sometimes the effort cost more then actually buying some of them, but not all.
I did an Instagram video sped up. My goal was to show how the motors are wired. This was a response to numerous questions on how to. Thank you for stopping by.
Can you hook up all 6 motors on the 3 block terminals?
Tyler Mcdowell send me a picture of what you are talking about. Best way is via Instagram @jkcanvas or email canvas@jkcanvas.net.
I'm using the same motors an when they get weight on them they switch directions do I have something wired up wrong
For me every time I turn them off then on back on they change direction on their own. So I do not think you have done anything wrong
So if I'm using 6 motors (just like your's) N if I do exactly what you showed on youtube I could use just (1) switch to "ON ALL (x6 MOTOR'S) ?
Cheryl Leopoldino each motor has a separate switch. If you send me an email to canvas@jkcanvas.net I will send you a wiring diagram.
THANKS FOR THE THUMBS UP EVERYONE. N THANK YOU JK CANVAS FOR UR HEART N ALSO UR THUMBS UP..
Cheryl Leopoldino you are welcome. Hopefully I answered your question.
@@JkCanvas im gonna shoot you an email id also like to get the wiring diagram since I'm building on for the wife
@@jspitler353 email received and working on getting a good diagram for you.
I'm hooking a speed control switch onto it can you explain how to do that
You are putting a speed control on a miter that spins at 3-4 rpm’s. Sounds like a waste of time and money, but the speed control will have power coming in from the source and the other input is the motor. The speed control takes the place of the on/off switch.
@@JkCanvas so there no need for that speed control
@@doyminix8340 in my humble opinion it is a waste of money. The motors I used turn so slow they don’t need a speed control. Now if you have a motor that spins 100 rpm or more then yes a speed control is needed.
I got everything set up and wired... but only the first motor will spin... I triple checked all the wires were in the correct spots.. any ideas what I did wrong?
Jennessa Waller send me a picture of your wiring and switches via Instagram @jkcanvas or email canvas@jkcanvas.net
I’ve got 4 motors hooked up but I can’t turn them all on at once or it trips the GFCI. Running only 2 at a time is fine but when I turn on a 3rd, it trips the switch- what am I doing wrong or what did I do wrong? Help!!!
Traci Sweet check your ground on all motors. The GFIC trips when a differential in current is detected due to a ground missing. It could as simple as the ground wire not being tight.
Traci Sweet send me an email canvas@jkcanvas.net of what you have done. Send a pic that shows the whole box the. Several of the motors and the wiring. I will be able to help you out better. We will get this figured out.
Jk Canvas thank you so much, will do! I appreciate the help very much!
Hey, I went to connect the other five motor, and they all didnt work, have any guess of why. I have a theory
Christopher Going send me a picture of what you have to canvas@jkcanvas.net. Send a couple but not zoomed in. Also send a picture of the switch you are using. My guess is the ground is not on completing the circuit.
Soooo did you ever get it working? Because at the end you tried it and it did not work.
andrew rossington yes I did. Dumbass me plugged the wrong cord in.
Where can I buy the turner motor ?
Jan Lepisto in the beginning I put a card for the initial build that has an Amazon Link.
I've seen little laser lights wired into the tumbler turners i love this idea any idea where to find these
Not sure the question you are asking. Are you referring to the laser or how to make a tumbler turner?
@@JkCanvas the little laser lightsthat are wired in also above each turner
Katherine Eichinger those are 120v 15 amp rocker switches.
i wish i knew how to upload a picture some people are adding little laser pointer lights above the turners for me it would be awesome since i am old was wondering if you had any idea where i could find something like that
Katherine Eichinger send needs a pic to @jkcanvas on Instagram
We've watched the video 10 times and it's not working...any idea why? We are using the same switches ...can't figure it out
Jenise Freeland sounds like you are not completing the circuit. Send me an email canvas@jkcanvas.net. Send pictures of how you have it set up
If you are using a Two Prong extension cord make sure the ribbed wire is attached to the motor and smooth wire is the source of the power for your switch. Lastly make sure you have a ground wire running to the switch. With out the ground the circuit won’t be completed.
Just following up to see how your progress.
Do you have diagram of the wiring?
David Blakely no I do not.
David Blakely send me a DM on Instagram @jkcanvas if you have issues. Include a picture so I can help.
not really sure why you added a ground when the motors doesn't call for one
jeffery king the switches called for a ground and I use three prong plugs.
Just realized I’m on my sons account. 😂😂😂🤦♀️
Do you need the 3 prong switches I have 2 prong switches.
Couple minutes in and I am totally intimidated. Yikes!!!
Joy Shackelford it is not that hard really. Trust me you can do this.
Couldn't see what wires were going where, total mess!
Totally confusing unless your an electrician. I learned absolutely nothing.
Not really that hard. Black to one block white to another block and ground to the last block. One blue wire gets a black wire that goes to the switch. The other blue wire goes to the white block. Take a black wire from the block to the other leg of the switch. Then a ground wire from the block to the switch. I am not an electrician by any measure but I was able to figure it out and you can too.
You did everything way too fast and I can't see anything that you held up, (boxes of terminal ends) Also I couldn't see where you were putting/screwing in the black , white, red and green wires. Please go slower for all the beginners. Thank you ! 😊
