More BX videos!!!!! The content here is always great! I love my BX2680, if I was closer to your dealership there is no question I would have purchased from you guys!
I love the cut on my bx2380 and 60" deck. Once its leveled and you have some really sharp blades, its cuts just as nice as a zero turn mower. I see on some forums that the cut quality is not there with these tractors, but 99% of the time its because they never check level front to back, or balance left to right. And most guys are mowing with clogged decks and dull blades.
Once adjusted front to back, and left to right properly, with the right pitch and some sharp blades.......These mower decks will stripe the lawn as good as a commercial grade mower
Nice to know as I'm leaning towards the BX1880🌻
Thanks Neil. Bought the 54" deck a year ago - would have bought the 60" if I had watched your video first
Great point!!! Almost bought the 54” but decided to go big😜. Bought the 60👍
I’m thinking about getting the 54 to get access to smaller gates, but I might just look at a quick disconnect for the chute now
Wow, this was a main question I had before ordering, and was leaning toward the 54" for all the wrong reason I guess. This vid answers that question!
Me too! Credit to Neil Messick for pointing out two very important, counterintuitive points!
Thanks! I was just debating on 54 vs 60 on the BX. I think this made my decision!
I’ve had two BX tractors, a BX2200 and my current BX2660. Both with 60” decks . The 60” deck makes servicing the primary fuel filter much easier because of the extra travel in the lift.
here is a question for you as you own both. Will a current model bx mower deck hook right up to the BX2200?
From what I've seen..yes...they are the same deck and mounting points. The BX2660 was just a upgraded power plant with a cosmetic face lift.
@@keithdaniels5918 Thanks, that's good to know. I have a bx2200 with 2500 hours. The deck is getting worn out but the tractor still runs fine. I see no reason I cant get another 2500 hours out of the old girl. I may just buy a new deck and see you in 10 years.
oh man where was this video a year ago
Man I wish I knew that when I bought my 23s from messick last year
i have a BX2350 i bought used. it came with a 54" deck, a really nice deck almost no wear. im quite happy with it, but if i were buying a new machine and had a choice of the decks, i would too go with a 60" deck. it does make trimming allot easier with the larger deck. i just ordered a set of gator blades for my deck, hope it will eat up some of the clippings.
how much have the decks changed between different BX models?
Love you short, sweet and informative videos. I bleed green, but you’re starting to turn me orange.
Can you run the 60” deck ok the 1880?
48 inch deck on the 1880 will fit inside of the garage with car in there. Tight fit but will work. 60 inch deck would be too wide to store. I was originally looking at the GR2120 with 48, but recently found that the 1880 has 48 deck option which is awesome.
My 60" deck on a BX is a challenge to get level. Picking up the side to reseat results in varying readings. Its a 10 yr. old machine, maybe the deck is tweaked? I use a John Deere gauge to measure the side to side and front to rear blade heights. Do you have any secrets on leveling these decks?
Bought a mower in 2008, was a hard choice between a 4x4 Kubota and a zero turn. I finally went with the zero turn because of the huge amount of places I mow where you pull in then back out, with the zero turn I can pull in, turn around and drive out. It was the right choice but I still miss not having the Kubota too. If the Kubota had also come with an air conditioned cab it would have won 😎
There is one in the b series with heat and cold
where do you attach the parts to the tractor that hold the mower to the tractor. no one shows that. the instructions are very bad. I have a B3030 and a RCK60-30B mower.
Out of curiosity how is the speed difference in mowing with the BX series mid-mount mower versus a good quality zero turn mower? I realise that you can't turn as well and I don't have that problem as few trees but this option is only a few dollars more than a good zero turn mower and would make a lot more sense if it was compatible in speed as it would spend 95% of its time mowing.
💥That was an excellent video. I just learned something new. Thanks Neil!!!
Correct . if I'm wrong but the 60inch deck is a half a foot longer the 54?
Can you put a 48" deck on the BX23S (or 2380/2680)? I'm getting conflicting answers from my dealer and other tractor owners. I have a few very tight spots I'm worried about.
Kubota does not show it as compatible, but I'd suspect it probably would fit. The only real way to know is to try.
Hi there, if I have the 54” deck would it not be possible to order the springs and bolts from the 60” deck and modify to get this better contouring?
No.
Can you do a video on the compatibility of of the bx mower decks over the bx generations? Thks.
The model codes ending in -23 BX fit the 50-60-70-80 series. The -22BX fit the 00 and 30.
Messick's thanks
Any reason why can’t get the 48 inch mower deck on the BX2380? I’m seeing that it’s only offered on the BX1880? Thanks.
It fits
Are there different blade options for the decks. Like a mulching blade?
I don't think there is from Kubota, but tons of aftermarket options such as from Gator. I have a lawn tractor that I run Gator G5 mulching blades on....a much better mulching result from the G5's over the OEM 3 in 1 mulch, bag, discharge blades by a large margin. If you want to mulch, get the Kubota mulching kit, and order some Gator G5 blades that will work with the mower deck and you'll be set...I suggest ordering 2 sets of blades, 1 to be on the mower, the 2nd set to be sharp and ready to swap at least that's what I've done with all my lawn tractors over the years. Maybe you could coax your Kubota dealer into throwing in a 2nd set of regular blades too and check with them and see what they offer or can order as far as mulching blades for you as well.
Up until about 3 years ago I never mulched, I always side discharged....leaves in the fall were a constant struggle. Now I mulch and leaves are no longer a dreaded chore, the gator blades make dust out of the leaves its great. I don't have a bagger for my lawn tractor although I've thought about it a few times for times when the grass is really thick and heavy and want it off the lawn quickly and easily.
Does the BX1880 still come with a 48" mower deck option?
yes.
Are those not optional
Do either of those decks have an anti-scalp roller on the front/middle? It didn't look like it in the video but it was kind of hard to see. I've found that an anti-scalp roller on the front/middle of the deck helps a lot.
No, no center roller.
My 60" deck on my BX2380 DOES indeed have an anti-scalp wheel on the front center of the deck. I've heard the 54" does not.
you have a video about the BX1880 and the BX2380
Many, yes.
Hi does anyone know if the b series use the same attachment as the bx ?
It's does not
What make/model would you recommend for someone looking to replace an old Cub Cadet 1450 with a brand new machine?
Keep the Cub Cadet. There is nothing made today that is comparable in size and capability to the old Cubs.
Tommy W is kinda right. No one really makes a garden tractor like that any more. This BX series is as close as it gets.
@@MessicksEquip So out curiosity what is the retail on a Kubota BX with a belly mower, no loader, turf tires maybe R4 (??) Tires
Question. Even though I dont live in you area of the country I enjoy your videos and had thought about buying from you, and having a tractor shipped. But I have heard from friends and read online that Kubota dealers will not work on or honor warranties unless they sold you the tractor. Why is this? If your a licensed dealer shouldnt they be a dealer and not independent of Kubota?
We can't. Kubota does not allow us to ship serial numbered equipment.
Does the same hold true on the 2601? Or completely different decks? Thanks
totally different
@@MessicksEquip It'd be really interesting to see a video on the differences between the 2601 and BX decks - I've been told the 2601 deck is quite a bit stronger build. And then I think the 2650 in the next size up is a ground riding deck, where the BX and 2601 are suspended?
Hi Neil (or anyone who has the 60” deck). I’m trying to find out the width of the deck with the plastic grass chute pulled out of the way: I’m in lockdown here in New Zealand, my tractor is 3 hours drive away, and I’m wanting to bid on a trailer that is only 1.60m wide. That’s 63” in American…. thanks if anyone can help!
How did you go? Im wondering if one will fit in my 8x5 Trailer here in Aus
Thanks for the intel, make it a 60 incher then eh 🙏🏿🇺🇸🇨🇦
will a rck54-22bx fit on a bx2350 kabota?
no. needs -23bx
How easy is it to connect and disconnect? Does it have a mulch plug option and a rear discharge option?
I have connect videos. Yes on mulch, no on rear discharge
Do wheel spacers work with mowers?
Need to check your clearances on the rear scalping wheels. Small ones usually work, but you can't go much.
Do a video on how to win a tractor from Messick's.
That's easy, comment on the videos!
Interesting.I would say this,if you have to have a need for a 60" deck, that means your cutting a fair piece of turf.go to a zero turn, and keep the tractor for tractor jobs.Good info though.
A vx is faster at mowing than a same hp gravely zero turn and the box is way safer on slope
I am not sure it would fit but i know the 60" will not fit in the bed of my truck. My crappy 48" lawn mower fits without any problems.
Yeah if you are buying a tractor you aren't loading it into your pickup anyhow LOL. Even my lawn tractor gets loaded on a trailer if I need to haul it anywhere, far less height to climb going onto a trailer VS up into the bed of a truck, so less likely for slipping off the ramps incidents.
to me, more flex in the mower deck attachment points results in less stability especially when mowing a hill side.
you should not be relying on mower lift linkage to keep your tractor from rolling. wheel spacers, ballast, etc.
If you follow that line of thinking wouldn't it be better to use a 72" deck rather than a 60" deck?
The difference here is that the two decks don't attach to the tractor in the same way
@@MessicksEquip Gotcha. Keep up the good video's.
But doesn't the 54 inch mid mount mower deck have beefier components than the 60 inch?
physical construction is the same. There is a 'fine cut' version that is 'less beefy'.
@@MessicksEquip thanks. I bought my BX25D back in 2014 with the 54" deck, the dealer had told me the 54" would hold up better for my application because it was "beefier" with thicker sheet metal and bigger spindles.
I know I opted for the 54” due to width clearances around my property. It is super beefy. The gauge metal is the same but because it’s smaller it is tougher. Feels like a bush hog under the tractor but cuts like a zero turn. I love it.
if you don't have limitation for gates, 60" HANDS DOWN!!! is the best
At 2:45, that's more like 8" than 3". Better study up on your ruler some more.
60 inch deck is six inches wider than the 54 inch deck - three inches on each side, when talking about trimming difference.
@@daveball3081 I was referring to where he marked with his hand. ✋
