yeah, i did the same with Scorbunny and Passimian ... I also released any crap route 1 pokemon i received instead of feeding it back into the system. I think it's a nice gesture to try and help people get the starters and the version exclusives, and i wish if people would do it more often.
I also put a lot of 5iv pokemon in the surprise trade. All hatched while going for the 6 perfect iv

When I first started sword, before I even got out of the wild area, I was surprise traded a Charmander and it completely made my day! That Charmander is now a level 100 G-Max Charizard and I love it!

Instead of doing it every 2 minutes, you can do it once every 30 seconds, here's how:
Go into handheld mode
Connect to the internet
Search for a single battle
Hold the home button
When you get a match, immediately enter and exit airplane mode
Enter a Pokemon center
Change the day every time
It removes the time to go to the raid den

What I do when I shiny hunt, is I release all the Pokémon in my party (Except my flame body Pokémon) before moving on to the next set of eggs. It keeps it from becoming disorganized :)

@@ryannicklos634 To get different trainer IDs? Each of your friends will only have one trainer ID, the reason surprise trade is so great for it is because you're trading with someone new every time.

I am so glad I use suprise trade a ton, I'm currently collecting pokemon to finish my dex and collecting Japanese pokemon as well, no wonder I almost always win the lotto!
Gave Pokemon Sword to my son for Christmas....so naturally I'm playing it. Just want to say that mystery trades have been better than I expected. I've got all 3 starters, a bunch of Shield exclusive pokemon and a Japanese ditto that I haven't checked IVs on (haven't bothered with the battle tower yet). I also paid it forward, caught a stack of farfetch'd, bred a box of mawile and sent them out.
The community seems pretty good.
Rare candies are not totally useless. I tend to save them for my last few levels to reach 100 since they are more efficient than the XL candies
Just a small piece of advice for anyone who thinks they're not worth saving.
You know there's a method to level up ur pokemon a lot by giving them jobs then skipping time so u get like 30000 xp per pokemon every minute

I won it like... 50 times today. Time travel sure makes a lot of things easier.

@@SittingDucksOW a living dex is when you fill your boxes with every single pokemon in the pokedex. So all the stages of each evolution must be present. Which means I will need all 400 pokemon in the PC at once!
I have almost 150 from other people only obtained via surprise trade and most of the rest are my own

@@ratchetcrafter1021 Yes, just set your date to auto obtain from internet and go to a den to open and cancel multiplayer. Then you can start from the current day again.

It is true, I did surprise trade near the beginning of the game and ended up getting a Scorbunny and a Dreepy. They are now a few of my best.

Oh, it's so true that Masterballs are important in this game. In Pokemon GO you usually get >10 balls after winning a raid battle, but in Sw/Sh it's only a single one and the catch rates on those five star raids are usually not the greatest...
I found myself extremely lucky when I somehow managed to get into a G-Max Gengar raid before the lobby was already full, and guess what, that G-Max Gengar was a Shiny. I wasn't sure if I should use the Masterball, but I decided to use it, since I didn't know when I'll ever encounter a G-Max Gengar again and because Gengar is one of my all time favourite Pokemon in general. This was also my first G-Max Gengar raid ever. I couldn't believe it was a Shiny and it really surprised me.
Anyways, since I used my only Masterball, I had no Masterball left. Though what do I end up in the next day playing the game? I was very happy to see a G-Max Centiscorch raid and I was lucky to be able to joyn the lobby and... it's a shiny G-Max Centiscorch (which has a design I really like). Quite crazy. So we managed to beat it, but even with the fitting ball it ran away... somehow I managed to get into the same raid two more times in the next half an hour or so - giving me hope - but even in three tries, I couldn't catch it... Pretty disappointing :/ I'm extremely happy about my Gengar though..!
From the surprise trades I did after this videos release I would say the community is definitely with this idea!

This is everything I ever wanted!
I’ve been doing this for surprise trade. I toss any regular Pokémon and trade off any starter, foreign, gmax, version exclusives, or good iv pokemon I no longer need. I’m just a casual player btw. I’ve been saving a box up of some real good ones to send off on Xmas too.
It's actually not 1 out of 31 chance but 1 out of 32 because it's 0-31. This is only when using two 6 iv parents. But if you're not breeding for a specific nature, you can use a power item and destiny knot with a 5 iv and 6 iv parent to have the odds of 1/32 instead of about 1/55 (7/384).
Maybe we should also encourage people to trade version exclusive Pokémon

The only reason to breed for comp pokemon now is for moves because you can hyper train for perfect IV's and the mints from the battle tower mean you don't have to worry about nature
I always surprise-trade my breedjects away. I release everything with 4IVs or less and only trade the ones with 5IVs. Thankfully plenty of people do the same so I have a bunch of 5IV foreign males to use for breeding. I wouldn't say surprise trade blows, and thankfully the amount of Dreepy you get from it has also finally gone down xD

also update instead of walking to the den you can do the link battle airplane mode exploit to not need to reset in dens
You also could get master balls by trading a Pokémon for a Pokémon that holds a master ball and you could take the master ball away from it and into your inventory.
