    Hi Nadia! Thanks for making this video! I'm currently a high school senior, and I just submitted my U-M application for Fall 2015! It's my dream school honestly. Oh and congrats on being admitted 😊

    Just a couple more tidbits that I can think of:
    1) If you're being housed in East Quad for your orientation like we were this year, you'll have temperature control over your dorm room! So, don't worry about it being too hot or too cold!
    2) Pack light. You probably don't need to bring as many clothes as you're thinking of bringing! Pack comfortable clothes that you don't have to worry about too much.
    3) You can bring your laptop if you'd like! I did, and it was nice to relax late at night with the free wi-fi!
    4)DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SOCIALIZE. I was really awkward the first hour because, although I didn't think I'd act this way, I felt extremely anxious being surrounded by people I didn't know. But, after an hour, I literally forgot about how nervous I was and met so many wonderfully kind peopl!
    5) Do NOT drink. It's not worth it. People were kicked out of my orientation, and are going to be having to go to the last orientation date and get the worst schedule. Plus, how embarrassing is that? To start off your college years by being kicked out of your first official college event?
    If you have any questions, please ask!

    Hey Mariam, CZcams's not letting me reply to your comment but, I will answer your questions as best as I can! Don't worry about how many questions, haha, I wanna help :)
    1) How are people at U of M?
    Okay, so first off, I'd just like to let you know that I'm starting in the Fall of 2014, so I don't have lots of experience. But from what I have gathered through spending time at Campus Day, and Orientation, everyone seems really friendly! I didn't get a negative vibe from anyone; but then again, I haven't started living there yet to get a chance to! But, I'm pretty sure it's a majority of friendly people :) Everyone seemed really excited to simply be at U of M, and it's nice to feel part of a community that seems so united!
    2) I don't know if i'll fit in?
    U of M is filled with so many people from all walks of life and everywhere in the world. You'll eventually find your niche. Just stay true to yourself and never feel pressured to be something you're not.
    3)What's housing like?
    I don't yet know much about the housing. But I do know that all the dorms come with, one, two, or three beds (depending on the room size), a desk and chair for each resident, a closet and/or dresser, computer data port, wastebasket, recycling tote, window treatments, and overhead lighting. Bathrooms can vary from private to community depending on the actual dorm hall that you get assigned to! Here's a link for more information directly from Umich: housing.umich.edu/faq
    I'm sorry my answers aren't as good as they could be! Once I actually start living at U of M, I'm sure they'll improve :)
    Good luck with applying! :)

    Hi Nadia! I'm a going to be a sophomore in high school next month and I've been interested in umich since I was in the seventh grade. Anyways I want to become an intensive care nurse and I know uofm has very high standards to get in and it's a competing school I've taken honors and ap a lot my freshmen year and still kept all a's and b's and I plan on studying a lot on my act to get a good score. But I live out of state :( and uofm is very expensive it's like 40k a year right? I actually work now and I know I'll be able to pay off the deposits and everything but if I leave home I don't know if I'll financially survive. Anyways good luck and hope you have a great time at uofm!

      Hey Farah! It seems like you're well on your way to being accepted into Michigan! I actually got accepted into their nursing program, so yay for nurses! :) Also, the attitude you have about the tuition costs, with getting a job and saving money, sounds like you're the type of person who'd be able to have the drive to lower their costs as much as possible! It sort of stinks with how expensive it is, but people say that it's worth it! Just try and apply to every scholarship that you can; those help big time! If you can, join clubs that have to do with the medical field and volunteer at a hospital or shadow a medical professional!
      Thank you so much for the best wishes, and I hope to see you at U of M in the future!

      Thank you so much Nadia! I will work hard and see what happens, and I do volunteer at a hospital now(: I've been doing it for 4 months now. I started off at the gift shop now I actually volunteer in the nursing unit! (:

    • @Wfarah4
      @Wfarah4 Před 10 lety +1

      And sorry if it's personal and sorry for asking to much questions but I heard the nursing school has very high academic requirements, and only a hundred people are chosen?

    • @MangoesAndTea
      @MangoesAndTea  Před 10 lety

      Wfarah4 Honestly, I want to help you, so ask as many questions as you want! And yes, the nursing school is extremely competitive! I believe that my class only has 120-something freshmen! If you take challenging classes in high school, are well-rounded, do volunteer work, score well on your ACT (our nursing school's average is 28), write good essays and show genuine passion for becoming a nurse, I think you'd have a good shot! You seem well on your way to completing those things :)
      Nothing's ever guaranteed, but I think it'll help your chances! Test scores are important, but I sort of got the vibe that they looked more at how well-rounded you were :)
